  1. Help! I'm hosting a huge Grand Opening party for my new dance studio next week and I need some simple gluten-free appetizers that I can make up quickly and easily. I have very little time or money to devote to this, but would like to have a few finger foods along with some beer and wine for the guests. Thanks in advance!
  2. My son is watching this weeks episode right now. My husband and his friends have been playing a home-made role playing game of Heroes for over 10 years. They were a little upset to see all of their ideas on this show, but also strangely amused. LOL We're hooked!
  3. Yes I have and its "normal". Remember that MOST humans end up having some sort of bowel blockage in their lifetime. Autopsies often show that we do not digest properly and end up with massive amounts of waste lingering blocked in our intestines. You want to be eliminating large amounts everyday so that your system is detoxing properly. What I wouldn't give...
  4. I just rechecked the label and it does have the gluten-free green thing on the back. (having a "duh!" moment!) I guess it was the restaurant... but I've never had it hit me late and last long like this before.
  5. It is Coffeemate's new flavor Coconut Creme.
  6. I've gone and glutened myself again! I've had D for going on 3 days now. Luckily it isn't compounded with the stomach ache or nausea. I'm trying to figure out how I did it though. 2 things I can think of... one is flavored coffee creamer that I bought to put in my cream of rice, the other is eating a salad and side of mashed potatos at a restaurant. I read...
  7. I haven't worried about candies up until now. I guess I didn't realize how they can have gluten. I thought chocolate was safe... now I know better. I'll have to try some!
  8. Trader joes readily admits that they can't keep their lists up to date. I purchased several things there that had not been on the list but did not list any suspicious ingredients. I asked the manager about it and he said that everything is properly labeled, so even if it isn't on the list it should be fine. I had no reactions to any of it, and the enchiladas...
  9. I just saw this on the Food Network... they specialize in making chocolate candies for people who eat Kosher or have food alergies. Open Original Shared Link
  10. All of the cornbreads I have seen are made with wheat flour. PLEASE enlighten me because I love cornbread and this could make the meal easier on us!
  11. Thank you!! I'll try that Ener-G flour too.
  12. I did not do a blood test, but a fecal one, so the results may differ. But my test said that anything under 10 was normal for an Antigliadin Antibody. Now I'm curious to know if the numbers differ on the different tests.
  13. I told my husband about the Funyun idea and he loved it! We'll let you know how it goes. My dad used to make a sweet potato casserole with cornflakes, pecans, and a brown sugar mix on top and it was WAY better than the marshmallow kind!! I think he mixed the cornflakes and nuts with just brown sugar and butter. We have decided to do a little extra cooking...
  14. Thank you so much!! I feel better now knowing that I can relax a little bit. My first intention is to have taste trials. I am sure one or two of the lectures will interest me since I am new at this, but I spend so much time researching on the net that I don't feel like I really need them. I did place an order with Everybody Eats... I can't wait!!!
  15. Usually I eat 80-90% organic... but that green bean recipe sounds awesome!! I think that's what we'll do!!
  16. Thanks mucho for all the suggestions! I also forgot to ask... has anyone looked to see if the canned fried onions are fried in batter or just onion? My husband and I were on opposing sides... I say they have a batter on them and he thinks they are just onion.
  17. This is my first ever gluten-free holiday season. My husband, who happens to be a fabulous cook, and I are hosting the traditional Thanksgiving dinner so that we can carefully construct the meal. We are pretty sure we can figure out most of the meal, but we area little stumped on green bean casserole. How are we going to make a good creamy mushroom sauce...
  18. I've used this "all purpose" flour for cookies twice now, 2 different kinds, and they just aren't good. What is the "best" all purpose gluten-free flour for making simple things like cookies? I've just placed my first order with allergyfoods.com and ordered several of Miss Roben's mixes. Are they any good?? I'm not a fabulous baker, but before the gluten...
  19. I have a question about the conference. Is this the kind of thing that you can arrive at whenever and just spend time doing/seeing what you want, or is it an actual sit in a lecture all day type of thing? I'm confused even after talking to the hospital about it on the phone. Would someone who has been before please tell me what to expect! I have a huge Grand...
  20. I am guessing from a lot of things I have heard from people across the country that other Wild Oats markets must be bigger and better than the one here near Columbus, OH. The one we have here is small and expensive. I've never seen a price difference between it and WF. Are the Wild Oat markets independantly owned? Anyway, our Raisin Rack beats them both hands...
  21. When it comes to the gluten-free products I found Whole foods to be less because they have several gluten-free things that they make themselves. However, I can easily spend over $200 and not fill up the cart!
  22. I did go to their website and emailed them. the pictures make their food look so incredibly yummy!! Very pricey though. I'm waiting till the holidays to get the expensive bread machine so maybe I can start making something decent at home. It probably is only 12 miles, but you have to navigate through downtown from Hilliard. Its just the lay of the land...
  23. I'm so glad you posted this because after last night I was coming on the board to ask similar questions. Here is my life at the porcelin goddess.... 6 out of 7 days I am somewhat constipated with those little rabbit poos that are difficult to get going, sometimes skipping a day or 2 with no movement at all. Then my bowels scream "EVACUATE!" and I rush...
  24. Whole foods has more, but you won't find the prices any better. gluten-free foods are incredibly expensive no matter where you buy them! I have a Wild Oats and a Whole Foods about the same distance from me and I would choose Whole Foods for their selection. They also offer an 11 page gluten-free list of products they carry that you can get at the store or...
  25. I've never had anything rom Everybody Eats. What do they have that's good? Hilliard is probably not the closest spot you could get, but if the price is right its only a 15-20 minute drive.
