  1. Welcome! I'm also from the Halifax-Dartmouth area and gluten-free so I'll do my best to help you out. As for purchasing gluten-free things, Superstore and Sobeys both have a GREAT selection of items. You can find breads, doughnuts, tortillas, ect in the natural section. Same thing goes for Pete's Frootique (Spring Garden Rd) and Planet Organic (Quinpool...
  2. As soon as I read this, I knew I had to try it. I got my cheese-free, but the crust is pretty good. Although they could be a little more generous with their toppings...
  3. Frank's Red Hot Bufflo Wing Sauce is gluten free and makes FANTASTIC wings. If you go to the website, it's confirmed under the FAQ section.
  4. Happy birthday and may God bless you today!

  5. I didn't see them mentioned yet, but Open Original Shared Link chips are amazing corn chips which come in a large variety of flavors and are certified gluten-free. My personal favorites are the olive or the jalepeno, but like I said, there are tons to choose from and they are very very tasty!
  6. I heard about that! Zooey Deschanel was the guest host, and she apparently can eat gluten (and is vegan, and doesn't eat soy). That's really cool. Especially because she's my boyfriend's favorite actress. Must find this episode now.
  7. The Simply Bar could be a good investment if you can find them. They all are gluten-free, dairy-free, low fat, high protein and I just checked and two of the flavors are under 10 grams of sugar (Lemon coconut, which is my favorite, and the cinnamon raisin). Here is the website for you to check out: Open Original Shared Link Hope that this helped!
  8. I'm from Halifax. =) Representing the east coast.
  9. Wow that's not good at all, especially at my local grocery store they have them labeled as gluten-free in the freezer even though it doesn't say it on the bag. I should tell them that these are not safe.
  10. If you read her blog, Meg Cabot (writer... wrote the Princess Diary series) has recently been diagnosed with celiac. She talks about dealing with it on her blog.
  11. I've never had the Cheddar flavor, but I adore the vegetable and multigrain flavors. I think the multigrain may be my favorite. So good.
  12. These are my FAVORITE burgers ever. Way better than Sol Cuisine burgers. Barbecue is my favorite flavor. Yum yum yum.
  13. I'm not sure how many people here watch the new 90210, but on last night's episode there was a reference to gluten-free bread! It was just a silly little moment thrown in there, when two of the characters were discusses living in Beverly Hills, but I thought it was cute. It went something along the lines of this: "...And gluten-free bread... and I don...
  14. I agree with making sure you have lots of things you know you can eat. I know when I'm around friends I always make sure I surround myself with foods I know are safe--like for popcorn, make sure you have your own bowl of it to enjoy, and that it's not near the other kids foods.
  15. Thank you so much. You guys are dolls.
  16. I'm searching for something that tastes like pumpkin pie. My mother usually makes crust-less pumpkin pie (weight-watchers recipe, and fabulous), but because it contains evaporated milk--and I'm recently dairy free--I won't be able to enjoy it. Does anyone know any good recipes for something that tastes like pumpkin pie. Oh, and did I mention it needs to be...
  17. The website I found said the bars are both gluten and milk free, and says that the bars are even produced in a milk free factory. These bars actually look pretty awesome--some of them, along with being gluten and dairy free, are also low in fat. I wish it were possible to by them around here (Nova Scotia).
  18. The envirokids rice crisp bars are pretty good, but taste more like a rice crispy bar more than a granola bar.
  19. Usually I eat fruit with protein for breakfast. One of my favorite quick breakfasts is "pizza eggs". Easy to whip up, enjoyable, and can be made in a variation of ways so it never gets boring.
  20. I love mushrooms, bell peppers, hot peppers, olives and tomatoes on my pizzas. Oh, and sometimes a little chicken sausage sliced up is good too. This really, really makes me want pizza.
  21. I remember going to McDonald's with my mom, and we asked about the fries and they said they were perfectly safe so I ate one, and got SOOOOOOOOO sick. That was before they admitted there was wheat in the fries. I definately avoid McDonald's like crazy, although I have bought a couple diet cokes there when I'm dying of thirst.
  22. They're very good, at least I think so. Warm is nice, but these.... just fantastic. I also like freezing my Glutino Chocolate Breakfast bars--I find they are more brownie like if you pop them in the freezer for a little while.
  23. I absolutely adore the chocolate frosted gluten-free donuts, and the cinnamon sugar donuts. They are so good, that I actually don't buy them often because I know I'll just eat them all up. Does anyone else eat them frozen? I just love them frozen. Yum-yum.
  24. It was the chocolate greens one. Man, I'm usually so careful and read everything, but seeing the gluten-free check mark just made me feel safe, you know? I definately won't be making that mistake again. I'll be reading everything three times over from now on. Thanks for the feedback everyone. You guys are sweeties.
  25. I'll start from the beginning--yesterday, after work, I went to the Health Basket with my dad to pick up some gluten-free goodies, and I was looking for something quick and tasty to eat and saw some Organic Food Bars, which I remembered from one of my magazines as being gluten-free. I flip it over, and see a little check mark on the back saying "gluten-free...
