  1. The gluten-free bread at Whole Foods is much better than the others I have had. They have a garlic / sundried tomato bread which is delicious. Melt some cheese on it and it is like a "pizza sandwich". Also, wrapping G/L deli meats in a corn tortilla or even in lettuce is another alternative so lunch time. As far as snacks, most of the Lays Stacks potato...
  2. Roo, I just googled it and they do exist. They state they are washable and reusable also. www.Toastabags.com and they are available on amazon .com Good luck - don't set your toaster on fire. Kevin
  3. Roo, I was actually wondering the same thing. Anyone with any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Kevin
  4. I just went to PF Changs in Weehawkin / Edgewater, NJ. It was great. The host handed me the gluten-free menu without looking at me like I had three heads. The server made sure she brought out the G/L soy sauce. THe sauce on the table is not gluten-free. I asked the server if any of the beers were gluten-free? Hey, there were alot of Japanese beers...
  5. Hello, Well - it appears to me that Ramapo Valley Brewery has moved. They used to be in Suffern, NY & now the website says they are in Hillburn, NY. Maybe they are going through a moving process. They also changed their website. It used to be very straightforward with the ordering process. Hopefully this is a temporary occurence. They do still...
  6. Hello, I've had Bards Tale Beer which is gluten-free. Its pretty good. You can order it online at internetwines.com. Although they are currently out of stock. Bardsbeer.com states that online ordering is under construction. So there is hope there. Also, Ramapo Valley Brewery sells their gluten-free beer on the website. I have not had that one yet...
  7. Hello, I did not mention beer specifically but the Carnival rep said I could bring one bottle of alcohol. Again, I left it very vauge so I would not get a "no". I felt if they called me out on the beer I would tell them it was part of my gluten-free diet. I have read that other cruise lines - the more expensive ones than Carnival - would make specific...
  8. Just got back from the Carnival Legend and they were very accomodating. They told me I could bring my own bread, snacks, bagels etc. Which I took advantage of. They even said if I brought my own pasta on board they would cook it for me. Which I did not do. I even brought on gluten-free beer. They do not offer a g/ free menu. However, they will prepare...
  9. All Black Bear are gluten free except some hot dogs and one of their chicken meats. You can go to their website as it is clearly listed. Also, Thumans state in their radio ads that their cold cuts are gluten free.

    ARCHIVED Rash

Thanks - for all the replys. Answers to some of the questions: Yes - I was on the gluten free diet (about 95% of the time) and I have already been diagnosed with celiac disease. My allergist knew I was diagnosed with celiac disease but he obviously did not know about DH. Maybe I need to find a new allergist? He kept going back to the peanut allergy...

    ARCHIVED Rash

Hello, I've had some occasions of a bad rash on my legs and stomach while experiencing severe diarrhea. Does this sound like symptoms of DH? I'm not sure if I was exposed to gluten when these occuried. I was tested for a peanut allergy (which was negative) since it was at a time I was snacking on nuts heavily. The allergist actually said he knew...
  12. I know what you mean about the family. My wife & sister both bought me those bars on separate occassions. The Honey Rice puffins are very good. I even find myself snacking on them out of the box.
  13. To all looking for a gluten-free beer. Just an FYI about Sappora beer. This is directly from their website in the FAQ section: Q. I have heard that Sapporo is gluten free. Is it true? A. No, our brewing process is traditional and uses malt. All beer brewed from malt contains amino acids, peptides and proteins. Therefore Sapporo is not 100% gluten...
  14. Wandering Hermit - Sorry to hear you had a tough time finding it. I think there are websites you can order it from. Also, Ramapo Valley Brewery has a gluten-free beer which they do ship. I haven't had it and unfortunately it is expensive when you add in the shipping cost. By the way - great AVATAR. I'm glad I have found a beer I can drink at my next...
  15. I am drinking a gluten free Bard's Tale Beer Dragon's Gold as I type this and couldn't be happier. It is stronger that I was used to. (I was a Bud man in my pre-celiac days.) But its good to have a beer again. I picked it up in a Whole Foods in Manhattan. A little expensive but isn't all the stuff we have to buy.
