  1. You do have the possibility of cross contamination due to the fact they make non gluten-free food here. I've had the Hoeny Rice and I've been fine. You just have to make sure you get the Hoeny Rice. The other flavors have oats in them and are not gluten-free.
  2. Welcome, I am from NJ also. Here are some places to shop for gluten-free food if they are near you. Wegmans - By Woodbridger Center Trader Joes - Westfield Whole Foods - Short Hills - Milburn Good luck with everything.
  3. Did you call Heinz or the TGIF restaurants? I could see the restaurant telling you they are not gluten-free due to cross contamination etc? I was talking about the ones you buy and take home and cook yourself. Thanks, Kevin
  4. I think its a CYA. Not related to gluten but I was checking Chips Ahoy and Keebler cookies. (Son is allergic to tree nuts) and all bags state "may contain peanuts".
  5. Does anyone know if the store bought TGIF potato skins & spinach dip are gluten-free? The box states allergins as soy and milkon both. They are distributed by Heinz. Are they a company that won't hide gluten? The only questionalbe thing I see is MFS. Thanks, Kevin
  6. Had success with SBD. Lost about 30lbs. Put it back on and more when I went back to carbs. Be careful when you go off it.
  7. You really should check it since it is flavored. There could be gluten added with the flavoring. Distilled alcohol loses the gluten in the process but this theory is debated here back and forth. Some people can't even have the distilled alcohol as you stated. I've had vodka since being diagnosed and I think its ok for me.
  8. Some of the hard ciders are gluten-free. You can search this message board for the exact ones. Its kind of like a beer. Also, Ramapo Valley Brewery used to ship gluten-free beer made from honey. The website is Ramapovalleybrewery.com. You can contact them to see if they still ship. It was expensive when they did. I doubt Rolling Rock is gluten-free...
  9. Hello, I give you some pointers even though you are a Jets fan. Only kidding, I'm a Giants fan here. There is a gluten-free beer called Bard's Tale. The website is bardsbeer.com. The only problem is they had some sort of problem with the beer making process and its currently off the market. They state they are working on the problem and will have...
  10. Most Black Bear and Thumans are gluten-free also. Check the websites for details.
  11. Joe, I PM'd them and got no reply. I guess they don't want to sell their beer. Guess you have to ride up to them if you are in the area. But I also thought someone said you can't buy the beer at the bar only to take out. I have had the Bard's Tale which is good but it was recalled for the bottles exploding. They are suppossed to be working on the...
  12. To all: Here is an official response Absolute and its good news: Dear Kevin, Thanks for your email and your interest in ABSOLUT VODKA. The ingredients for the production of ABSOLUT VODKA are grain (winter wheat), sweetening enzymes (in the mashing process), yeast and water from our own well. It does not contain any gluten as it is removed...
  13. Sorry you body will not let you indulge. In a previous post I had listed the "no gluten in distilled alcohol" as a theory but I was quickly corrected by other poster's that it is a fact. I guess everyone's body is different so as the previous poster stated be cautious.
  14. Your welcome - it took over a week for them to reply. Guess it takes time for emails to come from Sweden. Enjoy!!! Absolut Vanilla & Diet Coke is a great drink.

  16. Hello, I actually found it in my local Shop Rite in Clark, NJ. They have a new organic section and there it was. Its great that these gluten-free items are becoming more mainstream.
  17. I'll go be the guinea pig for this test. You get to eat all the gluten you want and pop a pill. Sounds like heaven. I guess there is always the chance I could grow a second head or something. On a serious note I hope this works!!!
  18. I thought the Bellini was a house drink at the Macaroni Grill. Its a national chain that serves Italian food. Much better that Olive Garden if you have those in Canada. Obviously, I don't eat there since I was diagonsed with celiac disease. Hockey??? What's that?? Only kidding - I'm a Ranger fan and there isn't much to root for with them for like the...
  19. Skoki Mom, Those Bellini's are from Macaroni Grill - right? They are good. The alcohol part of the drink sounds gluten-free but maybe you should check with the company to see if any of the flavorings contain gluten. Also, most of those Smirnoff coolers are malt based which are not gluten-free. Unless you are in Canada. Just double check them before...
  20. To all: I guess it's a personal choice if you agree with the "distilled liquors do not have gluten in them" theory. Here is Bailey's response on their web site: Q. I am allergic to Gluten/Egg/Lactose/Nuts does Baileys contain Gluten/Egg/Lactose/Nuts? A. Gluten: Please be advised that the whiskey used in Baileys is manufactured by fermenting...
  21. Hello, Just an update. I went to my Whole Foods store in Manhattan and they told me another month before they get another shipment of Bards Tale. I wonder if this delay has something to do with the exploding nature of their product. I hope they get it straightened out so we can enjoy beer again.
  22. I did notice the extreme foaming on some of the Bards Tale Beer I've purchased. First time I thought maybe it was warm. Then I left one in the freezer and it was worse. Never had one explode on me. I'm wondering if it may have to do with the fact that they were warm in your pantry. The Whole Foods I purchased mine at specifically stated to keep the...
  23. The Whole Foods store I go to in Manhattan told me around 2 weeks ago that Bard's had a bad batch of beer so their shipments were being delayed. He did tell me to check back in 2 weeks when they expected a new shipment. I haven't made it over there yet to see. I hope they are still around.
