Interesting fact... #1 contributer to the Bush campaign; Pfizer
  3. man , my story is almost identical to yours. Except my "acne or DH" is on my scalp. It just started like 2 years ago. (I'm 28yo). So instead of retyping my "medical" nightmare" Here is the link to an earlier post...There is more than this , but this will give you some idea... Open Original Shared Link Anyways, a gluten-free diet completely makes me better...
  4. Check out this clip from "The View". The Dr. actually mentions Europe in relation to gluten-free resteraunts, ect. It's twords the end. Open Original Shared Link

    ARCHIVED Rip Off

Welcome to America!!! This is a perfect example of the rich get richer and the poor get poorer! We actually have one of the worst health care systems in the civilized world (financially speaking). Even celiac disease in Europe is WELL known and restraunts are very well educated on food preperation technique. I am a paramedic on an ambulance and it currently...
  6. RedBridge beer is the best !!!! A large liquor store in KY called Liquor Barn has it for $7.49 a six pack (bottles). I bought 60 bottles!!!! I love this stuff , and it tastes great. Even my non gluten-free friends like it. I don't agree with it being light, as mentioned in an earlier post. I drank 5 of them and fealt full. But I like a "heavy" beer.
  7. I wil totally bring some food with me......but I am still bringing my cherished bottle of red wine... maybe 2 ! Me sober+family gathering = headache!
  8. Family Dysfunctional Day! I love it! I can definatly look forward to my annual reminder that the ONLY thing that my family has in common is genetics!!! lol
  9. Thanks, I definately need some "outside the box" advice. Thanks again, brizzo
  10. Well, here's the skinny. I have what I think to be DH. I have a positive Enterolab test. And my symptoms get MUCH better on gluten-free diet. Well , here's the confusing part. My Dr. took a blood test on me ( iga antibody) for celiac. I had been gluten-free for three months at the time. Doctor said , "it takes like 6 months being gluten-free for you to get...
  11. Thanks to all for the good and kind words. I have faith this will NOT be as hard as I think it will..... Happy turkey day!
  12. Well, this is my first upcoming Thanksgiving since I have been gluten-free. I can't wait to go to Grandma's house and explain to every relative why I am not eating. Then they can all think that I am anorexic or sick. And then I get to explain what Glunten Intolerence is 350 times, again and again! I guess I will eat before I go and bring my favorite...
  13. My mom cooked corn chowder yesterday and assured me thet is was gluten-free! I even looked over every ingredient myself. Today she called me on my cell and she says, "you're going to kill me!" I forgot to tell you that I used 1 chicken bullion cube in the chowder yesterday. It contained wheat. My heart sank!.... Back to square 1 again. This really sucks...
  14. self suspected DH with positive enterolab
  15. I had a positive result to being gluten-free. I have DH, and my skin has been about 90% clearer since going gluten-free. I still get the occasional irritation, but I have only been gluten-free for 3 months. My derm says that he can put me on Meds to clear up that other 10%, but I am not going to "poison" my body by taking meds for the rest of my life. (sorry...
  16. If you "have" to eat there. Order a glass of milk and bring some Carnation instant breakfast along. Stir it up , and it's a gluten-free meal in it's self. All flavors of Carnation are gluten-free except the Chocolate Malt. PS... only use the dry powder. The pre-mixed cans are not gluten-free.
  17. I seem to agree with you. I just don't know why Dr. Fine doesn't look to "standerdize" his testing methods through the FDA.
  18. Just curious as to why most MD's laugh at enterolab's fecal antibody testing. Is there something "screwey" about Dr. Fine that I should be suspect about my results? When I showed my derm my enterolab results. He said, "I've never heard of a fecal celiac test." "You have to watch that garbage on the net." He asked me to take a blood serum test. I told...
  19. Very interesting stuff here. I believe one reason that the medical community fails to research this idea any further, is that cataracts surgery is about 98% successful. It is also the most common surgery done today. It is almost always "treatable".It would be interesting to see if the countries of the world with a higher prevelance of cataracts also have...
  20. thanks j.a. I know that we are not all Dr.'s on here.... but it is nice to get the occasional validation of my own "crazy" thoughts on here lol thanks again brizzo
  21. yea, normally I am a rum/red winer... but it was good to drink something "safe" and different for a change
  22. I went to the eye doctor yesterday for having something called a pinguecula. It's just a benign mark in the eye due to not wearing sunglasses and being out in the sun too much. No big deal... Here's where it get's weird. The opthamologist is looking at my eyes through the scope and kind of stops for a second and is like... I have good news and bad news...
  23. I finally found a 100% triple distilled potato vodka. It's called Luksusowa . It's a polish vodka. Check it out at www.Luksusowa.net . I found it here in Kentucky in a Liquor store in B.F.E. So I am sure that it is very easy to find. It gives me NO symptoms. That is a first for me. But , I warn you, as with all vodka; it packs a BAD hangover.
  24. 1 ingredient in your spice could be of a questionable source. Maltodextrin="Maltodextrin can be derived from any starch. In the US this starch is usually corn, elsewhere such as in Europe it is commonly barley or wheat. This is important for celiacs since the wheat/barley derived maltodextrin can contain traces of gluten"... wickipedia You need to...
