  1. OMG- too funny (not the experience but the way you phrased it). I had the same response from my first two GI's. It could be Celiac, it could be Chrohn's and it could be colitis. But if the Chrohn's and colitis get ruled out (and even if they get ruled in) you might want to TRY going gluten-free for a time to see if it helps at ALL. That's basically what I...
  2. I'm going to miss you Chelsea even though you're not going to read this. I haven't been on as much lately due to personal stuff and travel, but when I do come on I get frustrated too. I'm going to miss you, but I totally respect and understand your decision. When I came on, this board saved my life and it continues to do so because of the warm, ssupportive...
  3. thanks everyone- You guys are so good to me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Welcome Jen- definitely let us know when yours comes around. Yikes!!!!!!!!! I was so FREAKED out. Uhm... defending just means you go in and they "challenge" you by asking you questions about your answers- they either ask for clarification or "How would blah blah theory apply...
  4. Thanks everyone!!!!!!!!!!! Funny thing is.... you only get to feel important for about an hour before you realize you still have to do the laundry, clean the cat box, cook Carrie- I'm not done yet. I still have to do a dissertaion but YES I am so glad I am doing this. It's been my dream for a long time and there have been several times where I thought...
  5. I was diagnosed with FMS back in February but the doctor who diagnosed me said he was convinced that it was secondary to something else (i had already been gluten-free for a year). I woke up every morning feeling like I had run a marathon and then been run over by an 18 wheeler. It was EXCRUCIATING. Finally with the help of this board I figured out that...
  6. OMG- funniest response yet. One of my co-workers said "I wish there were more PhD's like you. You're a valuable loose canon" I almost bust a gut laughing. I like the you are one smart Mountain Dog even better. You're a pretty smart dingo yourself (that sounds like an oxymoron )
  7. Wow- What a day! I had the meeting today to defend the qualifying exam I took back in June for my PhD in Literacy. I was terrified. But the defense went pretty well and I was aked to leave the room so they could discuss the outcome. Longest 5 minutes of my life!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They brought me back in and told me I passed without revisions (most...
  8. Susie Girl- You CAN start a thread about Nervous Breakdowns. I'll bet there's more than one of us that for multiple reasons had had one or close to one. I'm sorry you had such a scary experience! I do have some good news for a change today- I'll start a new thread (see I'm oficially a PhD candidate!). It, of course, was a bittersweet moment. My fourth...
  9. hi- Just wanted to send some love vibes to everyone who needs 'em 9which is everyone here!). Rachel- What I admire so much about you is your perseverance..... you will find out what it is and you will win. I've NEVER doubted that even if you're frustrated! Keep us posted. Andrea- I'm sorry you're having such a rough week between your dad and Mitch's surgery...
  10. We could start a new thread called House of Terrors. really. But it's not MY thread...this is a community Dingo chick!!!! Vent away (unless of course it's something you'd rather forget!)......... Puppies (gluten-free like Patti's kitty) bounding through my backyard and kissing my face........

  12. I have a herniated belly button- YUCK!!!!!!!!!!! Yes- I agree...more dogs... I was at the house we're renting today doing some cleaning and I sat in the baackyard dreaming of a big fluffy one bounding through the snow this winter!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WAIT- HOUSE OF TERROR? i haven't heard about it? Do tell what you mean!
  13. Oh my gosh! I'd take the sauna too! They really are good for you. I'm feeling better with a few blips here and there- I legumed myself to pieces the other night when I ate 4 Reese's pb cups. I was stressed out, they were here and I thought "oh maaybe it was just the apartment." Wrong! I was in screeching joint pain the next day and LEARNED my lesson...
  14. Hi Sweetie!!!!!!!!!!! Aww shucks, thanks for the compliments. I've been trying to get that photo up here for so long because I was so HAPPY when it was taken. Lynne- I can just hear you now when you get to the Pearly Gates (A VERY VERY VERY LONG time from now) "Hey Big Guy, you got some 'splainin to do" (in your best Ricky Ricardo voice twinged with a Southern accent). How the heck would that sound???...
