ARCHIVED Have Any Of You Had Problems?
vampella posted a topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I called safeway to night to ask if there was gluten in their paper towel. I called and said Hi, Can you tell me if there is gluten in this product? she said, why does that matter, more than ONCE and she was so rude about it. I was blown away by her comment and said some paper towels contain it as a binding agent or something and she said well why does... -
ARCHIVED Which Caugh Syrups Are Okay?
vampella replied to Esther Sparhawk's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I know I was told dimatap(sp) is not gluten free ( it's in the drug book as containing gluten) but it's formula could have change..not sure. My husband said last time he checked he thinks triminic was gluten-free but call the company and make sure. I would call now because they aren't open on weekends and late nights when you really need it. I will be... -

ARCHIVED Hoping For A Dx's
vampella replied to vampella's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I have been tested NEG but I am thinking about going gluten-free because I have some symptoms. My husband has MAJOR symptoms and has all his life, no on ever worried about it or had it looked at so I told him he's going to be tested on the 20th. we have a strong family history on my side though. I have your survival kit, it's a god send, thank you... -
ARCHIVED Home Schooling?
vampella replied to hannahsue01's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
You could take her to a mommy and me play group if there are any near you. I take Emmah every tuesday from 9:30- 11:30 here where I live, if I wanted to I could go to one 4 times a week but, I'm good!! lol I have to say though, for the safety of all the children in that program you need to report them. For the safety and well being of your daughter you... -
ARCHIVED Home Schooling?
vampella replied to hannahsue01's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Firstly I am so sorry you have had to see and hear about the horrible things happening to your daughter. SECONDLY....You need to pull her right away and REPORT these people for child abuse. They have no right to yell, hit or belittle these children. I would have grabbed my child the first time I saw something that wasn't right..and then...I would... -
ARCHIVED Should I Get Other Dd's Tested?
vampella replied to ptkds's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
IMHO, you are RIGHT. why do the testing if there is such a strong history? Plus, the blood tests come up with false NEG's all the time. There is no harm in getting them tested but, why does your DH care so much..if the diet works what other proof does he need? I'm with you, let them be and put them gluten-free. Char -

ARCHIVED How Long For Your Kids React To Gluten?
vampella replied to kimber's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
My DD hasn't been "medically" Dx'ed she was Dx'ed with diet, it's been a month now. We saw HUGE improvments right away after changing her to gluten-free. She got I guess trace amounts of gluten or got something at the halloween party other than what I sent (the teacher said well I can't watch her 100% , then get more people or let me be there... -

ARCHIVED How Much Juice Does Your Toddler Drink?
vampella replied to Fiddle-Faddle's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Actually it has be found to be a factor is developing diabetes as they get older, or so some studies show. I'll see if I still have the artical about that study, if I do I will post it. doubt I still have it but I will look around. Either way, it leads to obesity and obesity can lead to diabetes. so like I said, that much juice can cause a child to... -
ARCHIVED How Much Juice Does Your Toddler Drink?
vampella replied to Fiddle-Faddle's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
That is a ton of juice. Giving that much juice puts their children at high risk for diabetes as they get older. Also sever tooth decay. 1 glass of juice has as much sugar and sometimes more than a soda drink. When you have a sip of juice or soda your teeth are literally attacked for 20 MINS by cavity causing bacteria....from juice. NOT GOOD. ... -
ARCHIVED What Were Your Child's Symptoms?
vampella replied to elaine33's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I hope you get some answers. From what I have read in many books (though it seems not to be the general consensus here) is that one should not undertake such a strict diet on a self diagnosis. On the other hand, when someone (child or adult) has been suffering with symptoms for a long time and undergone many medical procedures already, then a diet that... -
ARCHIVED I'm So Frustrated!
vampella replied to ptkds's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Hi, I'm sorry you have to go through this. I know how you feel. it plain SUCKS. there is no better way to put it. How old is your DD? Mine is 3 and we are NOT doing a biopsy because I took it upon myself to get my DD better and put her on a gluten-free diet. I couldn't sit around any longer while they "tried" to figure it out, she was dying..or that... -

BUMP. Had a meeting with Emmah's preschool today. not of much use, not sure why they had me come in. Then the teacher tells me I can not watch her 100%. well that would explain her CC yesterday at the halloween party and the big D last night. I'm gonna have to build a big bubble around her. From now on they like it or not, Iam going to these... -
