  1. @HAUS, I was at an event in the UK a few years back. I remember ringing the restaurant ahead to inquire about the gluten free options. All I wanted was a few gluten free sandwiches, which they provided and they were delicious. The gluten-free bread they used was Warbutons white bread and I remember mentioning it on this site before. No harm in trying...
  2. At a family wedding in Italy last year I was drinking gluten free Peroni which was fine for me. From the Daura Damn website ... " Our guarantee less than 3ppm: each batch is analyzed and certified by the CSIC using the R5 Competitive ELISA test before hitting the market. This way, we ensure that its gluten content is always below 3ppm "
  3. Hey @Butch68, I also have dermatitis herpetiformis but don't suffer from it anymore. I used to drink Guinness too but I drink Cider now when out on social occasions. I assume you are in Ireland or the UK. If it's any good to you ... 9 White Deer based in Cork brew a range of gluten-free products including a gluten-free Stout. I'm not sure if they...
  4. I cut out the rice because it was affecting my stomach at the time ... not necessarily dermatitis herpetiformis. It was Tilda Basmati Rice, sometimes wholegrain rice. I was willing to do whatever it took to heal. Too much fiber also disagrees with me as I have UC.
  5. @klmgarland, My dermatitis herpetiformis didn't clear up until I became meticulous about cross contamination. I cut out gluten-free oats and all gluten-free foods, dairy and gluten-free rice. Additionally, getting the right amount of protein for my body weight helped significantly in my body's healing process ... along with supplementing with enough...
  6. Some interesting articles regarding the use of Zinc Carnosine to help heal gastric ulcers, gastritis and intestinal permeability. I would consult a medical professional about it's use. https://www.nature.com/articles/ncpgasthep0778 https://www.rupahealth.com/post/clinical-applications-of-zinc-carnosine---evidence-review https://pmc.ncbi.nlm...
  7. I also take Paracetamol. I haven't taken an NSAID in years since being diagnosed with UC. The can cause UC flares.
  8. Folks, Does anyone know statistically, how common Thyroid issues occur in Coeliacs? Hypothyroidism, subclinical hypothyroidism and Hashimoto's. Thanks in advance.
  9. A friend of mine is in the bar trade most of his life and has never heard of lines being mixed for different type of beers and ciders. Better to stick with cans.
  10. I've never had an issue this side of the pond. If I'm out I drink Bulmers Cider. Sometimes draft and sometimes bottled. The draft cider lines are for Cider only.
  11. @Celiacpartner, I agree with Scott. We have a food festival yearly in the town I live in, with artisan food stalls everywhere. I spoke to the owner of one of the artisan burger stalls, enquiring if the burgers were gluten-free when I said I was Coeliac ... he said he had a serious anaphylactic allergy to fish himself. He possibly carries an epi-pen or...
  12. I can confirm this. I no longer have any issues with Iodine since being strictly gluten and dairy free.
  13. Hey @annamarie6655, I think we've all glutened ourselves during the learning process of what it takes to be truly gluten free. Don't be hard on yourself. You're not glutening yourself purposefully ... it takes time to figure it all out. You should stand up for yourself and advocate for yourself at all times. The family dynamic can be very difficult...
  14. I'm afraid not. Try the Atly app free trial ... or blog posts by gluten free travellers.
  15. @Theresa C, I was in Italy last year for a family wedding. There were several Coeliac's on the guest list including myself. Never had any issues both days and the second day was a pizza party. The gluten-free pizza was excellent. Italy is one of the best countries in Europe for Coeliacs. The Coeliac Society of Italy have regional offices and branches...
