Ok I just went and grabbed the Pamala's out of my cupboard just to be sure, and It is not the cornmeal like texture that I thought it was, so I may be thinking of something else. I felt it and it feels lighter and fluffier then wheat flour and I also tasted it and there seems to be no taste, so this stuff might just work. Now do I use the same amount that...

Now see I have Pamala's Baking and pancake mix right in my cupboard, and when I used it for pancakes I nearly barfed, so I haven't used it since. It seems more like cornmeal to me and I don't like cornmeal at all.

ARCHIVED Delayed Growth, Vomiting For 2 Months
Electra replied to sez's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
My son has been vommiting since birth often more then once a day. As he gets older it slows down, and we have yet to get a diagnosis. After I was diagnosed with Celiac I was convinced that my son also had it, so I got him blood tested and it came out negative. I'm still afraid he has it, but at this point we can't seem to get a positive result on anything... -
The thing is that I absolutely LOVE my apple crisp recipe and I do not like apple crisp with an oat topping. I like it with a very crispy buttery cookie like topping. I'd rather not change recipes at this point, but I would LOVE to get the one I have to come out like it used to before I had to make it gluten free. On another note, I just can't stand grit...

ARCHIVED My Mom Tested Positive!
Electra posted a topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Hello all. I don't get to come very often anymore. I'm super busy, but I just wanted to share that I finally got my Mom to be tested (a year after I was diagnosed lol) and she tested positive on the blood test. The control number for her tissue trans was under 20 and her number was 53.3, so that makes her positive. I convinced her to see my new GI doctor... -
The flour I bought was sweet brown rice flour, but It is very gritty. I knew from the second I opened the package that it was going to leave my apple crisp gritty but I was hoping that the fluid would absorb into it like it does with rice and eliminate the grit, but no such luck. We have very few options here for flours and that was the only brown rice flour...

Thanks for the tips everyone!! Mamaw-Can you buy betterbatter locally, or do you have to order it on line? I just looked it up and it's super expensive and when you add shipping it's even worse. It will cost me $21 for 2.5lbs. If I knew I would like it the money wouldn't be an issue, but I've spent tons of money buying things I absolutely HATE, and that...

I have an apple crisp recipe that I absolutely LOVE and miss with a passion. The other night I bought brown rice flour to make it with because brown rice pasta is my favorite and doesn't seem to be gritty like white rice pasta. I was disappointed when my apple crisp came out gritty YUK!! Does anyone know what is a good flour to use that has little to no taste...

ARCHIVED Pasta In The Micro
Electra replied to sammers1's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I have found one gluten free Mac N Cheese that is DEVINE and it comes frozen. It's by Amy's and I can only find it in certain Hannaford stores in the frozen health/organic food section. It's very creamy and YUM!! It's the ONLY gluten free mac and cheese that I've found (besides home made) that I love. I haven't even found another brand that I can tolerate... -
Thanks everyone. I had a blood test and it appears that my B12 number is where it is suppose to be, but if I remember correctly that doesn't necessarily mean anything. My symptoms have gotten better for the last few days, but it usually comes and goes with no pattern what so ever. I can't make a doctor give me the right dosage, and I can't continue to live...

Ok so I've been diagnosed with pernicious Anemia on top of Celiac and I am not getting the B12 that I need. I would like to have links to any articles from "reputable" sites that have factual information I can bring to my GI that will convince him that B12 shots once a month are not working for me. He never gave me the initial 3-4X's a week shots all he perscribed...

ARCHIVED Why Am I Still In So Much Pain?
Electra replied to Electra's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Thanks everyone for your replies. I have started eating some new product and I've cut those out since I first posted this and so far I seem to be getting better. One of them was Honey Ham and I think whatever they use to flavor it may have some CC in there somewhere. According to the label it's safe, and I've eaten it before with no issues, but I'm just not... -
ARCHIVED They Messed Up The Samples On My Daughters Biopsy
Electra replied to Electra's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Thanks everyone for the support. She has actually had the cream before and it didn't help at all. She's only 2 and a half so the fact that they are holding her down to stick a needle in her outweighs any chance that she may not even feel it. She just freaks out because they are trying to hold her still and stab her, so she's not reacting to the pain as much... -
ARCHIVED D-amphetamines Or Dexadrine
Electra posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
According to the pharmacist NO they don't, but I'm having more and more pain everyday since I started taking them again. Does anyone know if they are suppose to be safe or not? Thanks so much to anyone who can help on this one!! -
ARCHIVED They Messed Up The Samples On My Daughters Biopsy
Electra posted a topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
They sent the wrong skin samples for the opposite testing, so my daughter screamed and cried and got emotionally scarred for life with the IV's and crap and they have to re-do the damn biopsy. She has a scar now that I didn't even want her to have and now they tell me that she will have another one. I'd like to scream right now UG!! What in the hell are these... -
ARCHIVED Why Am I Still In So Much Pain?
Electra posted a topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I was diagnosed a while ago and seemed to do pretty good for a while. About every other week It seemed as though I had been cross contaminated and I had a little pain in my upper abdomin under my rib cage for a couple of days. Well I cut everything out except for fresh fruits, veggies, and meats and now I'm in almost CONSTANT pain. Under my ribs on both sides... -
ARCHIVED Why Won't The Weight Come Off?
Electra replied to Anteau25's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I'm right there with you. I gained 20 pounds since going gluten free and I am having such a hard time getting it off. I have to keep my calorie intake at around 800 calories a day or I gain weight. UG I'm starving to death here and I've only lost 7 pds. It's taken about 5 weeks to lose that much too. My philosophy is that our motabolism is so screwed... -
ARCHIVED My Daughter's Having A Biopsy!
Electra posted a topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
She's only 2 and has tested negative on the blood test and biopsy, but today I took her back into the skin specialist because she finally broke out in what appears to be a DH rash and the skin specialist completely agrees. She thinks it looks like classic DH and she wants her to be biopsied right away. The spot is on her back and they need to do two biopsies... -
Ok guys you have convinced me to get my thyroid checked. I'm also going to have him re-check my B12 to see if that number is rising at all. My mother actually has thyroid issues, so she may be the one in my family that has Celiac, but since she's dragging her feet getting tested we may never know UG!! I've printed out some sheets from your thyroid...

ARCHIVED New Celiac With Yeast Infections - Help!
Electra replied to terob254's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Your very welcome. I'm not convinced that's what mine is but I have had this mild itch for over a month. It's only at the front of my lips (TMI-I know), so it's not typical of a yeast infection to me. I definitely have the discharge going on, but that's normal now UG, and it's just starting to drive me wild. I feel like I can't go out in public without a... -
ARCHIVED New Celiac With Yeast Infections - Help!
Electra replied to terob254's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Here is some more info I've found. Again I'm not sure how reliable it is. "In extreme cases, the reaction to candida can cause other auto-immune conditions like celiac disease, thyroiditis and even rheumatoid arthritis. In a study published in the Lancet, it was shown that candida contains protein called HWP-1 which is has a gluten like structure,... -
ARCHIVED New Celiac With Yeast Infections - Help!
Electra replied to terob254's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I just happen to have been looking this one up today, because I have had unexplained itching that would not go away even with yeast infection meds for over a month now. It seems that there is a HUGE link between Celiac disease and Candidia. Check this link out (I'm not sure how reliable this source is, but I found other info on this too)!! Open Original... -
ARCHIVED Never Ending Yeast Infection
Electra replied to Electra's topic in Related Issues & Disorders

The weird thing is that I had all the nerve damage symptoms before I went Gluten free and since then those symptoms have drastically improved. Even the info the GI specialist gave me on perniciaous anemia said that you should have B12 shots a couple times a day for the first part of it and then taper off to once a month... -
ARCHIVED Never Ending Yeast Infection
Electra replied to Electra's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I just realized something else too. I pealed the pantiliner off and then thought OMG I bet the glue they use to stick those buggers on has gluten in it !! I had to go up and change my underwear too, just in case lol!! Maybe I should stay away from them all together, because the glue may even be what's causing a reaction. I hope this does it lol!! -
ARCHIVED Never Ending Yeast Infection
Electra replied to Electra's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
OMG I didn't even think of that. The itch got better when I was on my period last week and has persisted since I went back to the pantishields. You may have figured this out for me. I'm going to take the darn thing off right now. Thank you so much and I really hope that's the answer!!
