Electra replied to larry mac's topic in Board/Forum Technical Help
Nope no issue here, but the board format changed for me today, so maybe it has something to do with that!! -

ARCHIVED Search Flood Control Sucks!
Electra replied to larry mac's topic in Board/Forum Technical Help
No no problems here, but the board format changed today. now when I click on a topic to view it I get the original post and a drop down that I have to click on each individual post to read them. I used to get frustrated with the old way, but I'm not sure I like this format either!! It may have something to do with the new format, but then again I could just... -
ARCHIVED How Many Kids Tested Positive At Around 2yrs Old?
Electra replied to Electra's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Wow that does help. My daughters bloodwork came back normal, but I'm positive she has Celiac. She has all the classic signs and then some. I'm just hoping (if she indeed has it) that it's confirmed on the day of the biopsy!! -
ARCHIVED Ok Is This Doctor Clueless?
Electra replied to Electra's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Oh man I really don't like it when this question comes up LOL!! This is a testy subject hehe!! It's just a personal decision based on experience. The reason that I want a diagnosis when she gets in school is because the chances of her becoming cross contaminated are VERY high!! I NEED the school to know this is not just an ordinary "I'm allergic to cats... -
ARCHIVED How Many Kids Tested Positive At Around 2yrs Old?
Electra posted a topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I'm just wondering because my daughters pediatric GI swears up and down that the endoscopy is just as reliable in a 2 yr. old then in any other age? All the literature says otherwise!! How many of you have children who tested negative with a biopsy or blood tests at the age of 3 or younger and then later found out your child did indeed have Celiac? Thanks... -
ARCHIVED Ok Is This Doctor Clueless?
Electra replied to Electra's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Yah and the gastroentologists office TOTALLY denies that an endoscopy in children as young as my daughter are unreliable. They say that is COMPLETELY NOT TRUE!! I guess a diagnosis isn't really necessary, but when she gets in school she WILL need the diagnosis, and I just do not want to have to put her back on gluten (after being off from it for years) just... -
ARCHIVED Ok Is This Doctor Clueless?
Electra replied to Electra's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
LOL I've been trying to get her in with one of those too. I tried calling my GI's office so I can beg, but they are at a meeting. Lets hope they agree to take her as a patient!! My concern is that "if they think you can diagnose celiac with an esophogus endoscopy" then how do I know that they will take the right biopsies and look at them through a microscope... -
ARCHIVED Ok Is This Doctor Clueless?
Electra replied to Electra's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Man I just did a search on the net and there are no other pediatric gastro offices in our state. I'm just so tiered of the charade. How in the heck can they tell me that my son tested negative for Celiac when they were testing for EE. There is no way in heck they would know that. If they think he's negative because they didn't see it during the endoscopy... -
ARCHIVED Ok Is This Doctor Clueless?
Electra replied to Electra's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Good question lol!! My daughter has not officially been diagnosed with DH, but I know in my heart that is what she has. One of the reasons I KNEW I was positive for Celiac is because when I first stumbled upon information about the disease my daughter had a rash consistant with DH and we couldn't figure out what it was. There was just way too much of a cooincidence... -
ARCHIVED Ok Is This Doctor Clueless?

Ok here is the scoop. I took my daughter to a pediatric GI last week and it just so happens that it's the same office that my 5 yr. old went to back when he was 2. They tested him for Eosinophilic Esophagitis because he vommitted after every meal for the first two years of his life. Well they said they could look back in his records to see if he had Celiac... -
ARCHIVED Gluten Free Formula
Electra replied to betsy7's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
My daughters GI doctor swears up and down that for years he worked where they studied the effects of formulas on babies and (his words not mine) NO formulas have wheat or gluten besides the ones that contain cereal!! I KNOW this is incorrect because I picked up a can the other day and the first ingredient I saw was wheat. I almost passed out because my son... -
ARCHIVED My Symptoms-- Help With Some Questions
Electra replied to Sunrunner's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
My opinion is that YES, being gluten free WILL, (for me), cure the brain fog completely. I had brain fog so badly that I would actually have blackouts where my hubby and kids would tell me I said things that I had NO RECOLLECTION of saying, and they told me that I would say things out of left field that made NO sense what so ever, and that is so unlike me... -
ARCHIVED Gluten Withdrawal
Electra replied to JerryK's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Jerry, thanks so much for being honest and stating what you feel. I apologize for not staying on subject ;-)!! When I first went off gluten I had a full week of shakes, jitters, tremmers, not being able to focus, sweats, and feelings of being freezing. If I were to describe my symptoms I would say they seemed to me like what I've seen on TV when people come... -
Abdominal pain in one side and Anemia are both signs of Celiac, and some people have NO physical signs at all. If you are gluten free then you should NOT be having signs from Celiac, but if you have it you could have intolerances to other foods which will cause Celiac like symptoms!! I'm sure others here can lend more insite into what's going on....

WHEN GIRLS DON'T PUT OUT! This was written by a guy... it's pretty damn smart. Girls -- Please have a sense of humor! I never quite figured out why the sexual urge of men and women differ so much. And I never have figured out the whole Venus and Mars thing. I have never figured out why men think with their "head" and women with their heart....

Marlene, Tell them to get a new GI doctor. If I heard an absurd statement like that about long hair, I would be out of there quicker then ever!! PLEASE, PLEASE encourage them to go to a new GI doctor especially if a diagnosis is that important to them!! Good Luck!!

ARCHIVED Gluten Withdrawal
Electra replied to JerryK's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
You are right on that one, but we also have a duty as board members to make sure that we give factual information. If we have experiences that contradict statement that could be detrimental to the the health of others here then we have a duty to state those and make sure that both sides are heard. If Jerry has a problem with what is being posted here... -

ARCHIVED Gluten Withdrawal
Electra replied to JerryK's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
What I see NO EVIDENCE for whatsoever is that 2-3 days of glutening does ANYMORE damage than being accidentally glutened by a single breadcrumb, some CC or accidentally sipping someones beer on a regular basis. Just wanted to say that there are a lot of us on this board who are living proof that eating gluten for 2-3 days is so much worse then just eating... -
ARCHIVED Dark Circle Around Eyes
Electra replied to elisabet's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
ABSOLUTELY!! I have always had them really bad, I haven't even had time to notice if there has been a change since going gluten free, but my daughter gets them something aweful and when she isn't being glutened they are barely EVER there. -
ARCHIVED Alaskan Klee Kai I Just Love These Dogs!
Electra replied to Electra's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
Oh man I've found a breader that's actually only a few hours away, but she hasn't had a litter yet, so if her dog is pregnant that will be their first breading litter. I'm kind of hoping since it will be the first litter that maybe they'll be cheaper. Wishful thinking anyways lol!! -
ARCHIVED Eye Tic?
Electra replied to eleep's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Yup I used to get them too. I also started getting them in my sides around the bottom of my ribs. Man those were so annoying. Since going gluten free I haven't had any ticks, but I still occassionally have a prickly finger tip (which is a tell tale sign I've been accidentally glutened)!! -
ARCHIVED Alaskan Klee Kai I Just Love These Dogs!
Electra replied to Electra's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
LOL I know I saw them and fell in love!! I really want one, but I usually rescue pets and have actually had really bad luck buying them !! I'd even take a mixed one as long as it had mostly AKK traits!! -
Wow we've never gotten them on the face. We always get them inside the mouth, lips or in the back of the throat. They like to swell up the lines in the sides of our cheaks too so it feels like you have an entire vein running down the inside of your cheek that's infected OUCH they kill!!
