  1. Oops...after I had posted this I went to check my e-mail. Completely forgot that I e-mailed Interpharm about the ibuprofen. Here is there response (04/13/07) Kelli, Interpharm's Ibuprofen 800mg does not contain wheat gluten. Corn Gluten <0.5% Tami Taylor Customer Service Manager Interpharm, Inc. 75 Adams Avenue Hauppauge, NY 1178...
  2. Why can't we search for words that are four characters or less. I've had a tough time finding certain information because the word isn't enough characters. A good example was trying to search for "ham" posts around Easter dinner. I had to search for "easter" in order to find threads that also included ham. It's a little frustrating. Am I doing something...
  3. Does anyone know if Chapstick is gluten-free? (Medicated or Moisturizing) If not, do you know of any lip balms that are?
  4. Does anyone know if the generic 800mg ibuprofen is gluten-free. When I did a search, I found a few things that said the 800mg's were not gluten-free, but they were a little dated. They are made by Interpharm. I may need to give them a call to make sure.
  5. Interesting....I'll have to ask my doctor about this on my next visit. I always assumed it was from my allergies.
  6. Do you have sinus issues right now -- primarily post nasal drip?? I have a lot of allergy issues and this happens to me quite often.
  7. It took me well over a month to get a response from them. However, I got a nicely detailed response today (04/12/07) regarding their products. Here you go: Thank you for taking the time to contact M.A.C. We now consider wheat, barley, oat , rye, corn, rice and soy. While a formulation may contain no wheat, oat, barley or rye derivatives, for the benefit...
  8. I have a question regarding the breath test for lactose --- who actually gives the test, which doctor? I asked my GI guy about testing for other intolerances (ie, lactose) and he said he wasn't aware of any other testing and referred me to my allergist. From what I'm reading it sounds like the folks that have had this testing have had it done by their...
  9. I've actually been gluten-free for almost two months. I think part of the problem for me is that I'm much more aware now of my stomach -- more than I ever was before. But, I swear that I'm having more issues and more discomfort now. Maybe that is all just part of the healing process? I notice that my stomach gets more 'gurgly' and gassy now. It doesn...
  10. Hi there- I'm going on a cruise in a week and a half and am very nervous. I'm going on Carnival. I've spoken with them and they are aware that I have a special diet and have advised me to work with the head chef when I board the ship. That was the easy part. I'm not sure what types of foods I should bring with me to snack on for one, but I'm sure...
  11. Just read this about the CT Scan: Q2: I had a CT Scan two days ago. I drank 3 glasses of what I believe was diluted iodine and was given an IV with another tracking substance at the time of the scan. Yesterday evening, I began to have diarrhea. It has continued today. I have done nothing different from my normal routine and have not eaten anything unusual...
  12. How do you determine if you have an intolerance to any other foods (dairy, soy, rice)? I know enterolab can check, but it's a bit pricey for me right now. Is the only other way to figure it out by elimination diet? If so, how long do you have to go without? I ask because I've been gluten-free for about three weeks and seem to be feeling worse. It seems...
  13. Hi guys- I'm still very newly diagnosed and am having to try my hand at cooking/baking. Does the gluten-free stuff go bad quicker than regular foods? I made a quick bread last weekend and put it in the fridge. I am wondering if I'm supposed to freeze it right away to maintain it or if I'm okay eating it throughout the week while kept in the fridge?...
  14. I'm really hoping it's not Rosacea - it doesn't seem to quite fit with Rosacea. It seems to happen mostly in the winter, which is why I thought that Raynaud's had something to do with it. I'm honestly not sure. What I am sure of is that a dermatologist would tell me it's Rosacea and I'm not convinced that's what it is. I'll just wait it out and see ...
  15. It's interesting you should mention that, because that is something that has been on my mind lately as well. I had half of my mercury fillings replaced. I had such a hard time with one of them that I don't want to do the remaining ones. I had horrible teeth as a kid, so I have quite a few fillings. Hmmmm....something to think about further for sure. ...
  16. Hi guys- I wanted to check to see if this is happening (has happened) to anyone else -- my nose will get very hot and red for no good reason. The redness/heat will move to my cheeks and when it happens it looks like I've been roasting in the sun. I really can't link it to anything in particular when it does flare up, so I'm not sure it's related in...
  17. Thank you for all the feedback guys! Does the book provide information other than names of restaurants? I was just reading that the info is only good as of November 2005, so it's rather outdated. If it's a good guide to ordering from restaurants, it may be helpful to me. But, if it just provides names of restaurants and lists of foods from those restaurants...
  18. Hi guys- I'm trying to decide if the Triump Dining Restaurant guide is worth buying. I was going to get it and then I started to read the FAQ's about it and read that they don't verify the information that they publish. It's all word-of-mouth. At the very least, should I buy the dining cards? I'm getting ready to go on a cruise in a few weeks...
  19. Hi there- I finally got an official diagnosis this week. Prior to that, I had already started the gluten-free diet and had done quite a bit of research. I wanted to check with you guys about something I read. Can you truly get glutened from your partner? By kissing them after they've eaten gluten? If so, is this experienced more by folks that are...
  20. My doctor called today and left a voicemail telling me that the results of my biopsy came in and the findings were consistent with Celiac Disease. He recommends that I see a nutritionist and "have a nice day." I was a bit annoyed that he left me the results in a voicemail. Though I wasn't surprised that he didn't offer up any other support (based on what...
  21. Hi guys- I had my biopsy today. The report says: Nodularity and atrophy of the first part of the duodenum and second part of the duodenum compatible with duodentis, ? celiac sprue biopsy. Otherwise normal egd to third part of duodenum I'm not quite sure what that all means. But, the doctor said that between the scope today, the fact that I got...
  22. Good luck tomorrow Angie!!!
  23. Update: I spoke with the nurse yesterday at my GI's office and explained that two days back on gluten and I'm worse than I was before. She spoke with the doc and called back to tell me that the doctor say's to "eat whatever you want." If gluten is making me sick, don't eat it. Ok, but that goes against the reason he asked me to eat it again in the first...
  24. Jayhawk -- thank you so much for that link. It explains in that link that those two tests, IgA & IgG, are specific to gluten. Therefore, the doctor telling me that the positive test results could be due to IBS or Lactose intolerance is completely bogus!! ARGH!! What the heck is wrong with these doctors??? Seriously, this frustrates me even further...
  25. Thanks to everyone who responded. It's very nice to have some support from people who have already gone through this. I just get so tired of fighting with doctors and essentially doing their job for them -- if they had it their way all these years, I would have resigned to their diagnosis of depression and never pushed back. So, yesterday I was feeling...
