  1. Hello Georgie:)

Iam waiting to go back to Barts for Pituitary MRI and other tests aswell, Aldersterone etc...

Its been a nightmare as been going on for so long now that some specialist pay more attention to the last doctor than to what you are saying ....but I am sure ill get there in the end..4 years now lost my first part of my 30's..

Iam also seeing an intestinal infection specialist for the candidas but i dont think it will go until they sort my hormones out..seem to have to jump through hoops before they actually take you seriously sometimes!! Either that or they dont like to tread on previous endos toes..

Ive seen 3 endos but was on the pill, also I smoke and that was also affected tests where teh smoking raises metabulisum..also my diet alters the tests..

If I dont do candidas diet, dont smoke my TSH is very low T3 and t4..but if I smoke before, drink caffine and stay on teh diet its highish tsh...

    Dont get it!!

    Thanks for your response xx

This is now sounding like HypoPituitary.... Have you had a MRI of your Pituitary ? It will need contrast dye. Is your Dr supplementing the hormone failures ? Open Original Shared Link has a lot of info. You will need Thyroid meds to raise the Free T4 to mid range. Has Dr tested Free T3 ? Once you are dx as HypoPit - the TSH must be ignored and thyroid meds balanced to the level of the Frees. You will need all the hormones checked and perhaps some replaced. What are they doing about your adrenal and adrenal crisis ? Are you dx as Secondary Addisons yet ? Addisons can be fatal if not managed correctly. The gold standard test for Secondary Addisons is the Insulin Stress Test. Low GH can make you feel really ill and that is also tested with the IST. Good luck! I have HypoPit and its fine once you balance all the meds and get the regular tests done.
  2. Ive also got systemic infection I was told by a gastro that you can only have a systemic fungal infection if you have: Autoimune disease, imune deficency, cancer or hormone disease!!!

I was fobbed off with this just a shame no one went on to investigate other reasons why I would have it!!

I am now waiting to see a intestional infection specialist..mine went mad after 3 courses of antibiotics but i think probably due to something wrong with me any way!

  3. HI,

Iam being investigated for endocrine problems, I do have big problems with foods, bread, yeast, fats etc but have been tested via biopsy and donthave celiac.

I do have a systemic candidas intestinal infection.

When i ate a gluten free / candida diet drunk coffee and smoked a cigarette before blood test my tsh was high 2.94 low T4

Every time ive eaten gluten / caniddas foods my tsh has been low 0.60 low T4 and low T3

BUT I also didnt smoke before tests or drink any caffine

So I dont know if the smoking and coffee elevated my tsh / metabulsium as i know smoking raises cortisol etc and coffee.

    ALSO

I had a bad infection last week, started antibiotics and then had flu symptoms, dioreah and suddenly started have pain in my tum. Admitted to hospital, put me on a drip as infection was so bad and I got even worse - dioreah, pain in stoamah every 20 mins and vomiting aswell, lost weight too..

I also had high amylase indicating pancreatitis but when they stopped teh antibiotics it seemed to go back to normal!!!

I was on a gyne ward and thay said that it was a endocrine problem and didnt help any further as Iam under the care of a london hospital (supposed to be anyway)..

Id really appreciate your thoughts, I know AI can go hand in hand with celiac but its hard to know whats causing what, especially when you have a negative celiac biopsy and blood tests.

They think I ve ended up with servere candias due to so many antibiotics at the begining.

Thank you for listening to me

    Mandyx

  4. Hi,

Thanks for your replies. I dont have PCOS. I do have cysts on my ovaries but have been tol dI dont have it and also my tesosterone is low, estrogen low, dhea low..my skin isnt greasy its dehydrated, thin I do get spots / boils but not greasy skin.

So, it just dont add up..

Barts have mentioned Cushings food induced or maybe cycling cushings also need thyroid scan and parathyroid tests or something..

I just wondered if any one on here knows what could cause High Androsteninone (male steroid hormone)..

Maybe my food problems are just all hormonal then i know it upsets the balance..maybe my problem is more candidas..

  5. Hello,

Ive not been well a few years now but got worse two years ago with right sided spasm on my body.

Ive had biopsy, 7 blood tests but have been on and off the diet..However, I also have a low TSH, Low t3 and low t4, they have just found i have high androsteninone (male hormone), Low tesosterone (but cysts on ovaries), low DHEA, Low Estrogen

I also have big probelms with food and normally follow gluten free, fruit free, low gi veggies, candida type diet but find i do best with hardly any carbs..

Ive been down as sick of waiting Iam being investigated for cushings, thyroid scan and pituitary stuff..

So, Cheated agin on diet ate toast last night and sugar puffs.

Today feel like have hangover, very moody swollen hard belly (always got belly fat) all my normal symoptoms..but what i wanted to ask about is:

When i do cheat i notice Iam very dry down below, when i got aroused it was very painful and ive had this everytime ive eaten wrong!! I dont have a libido oftern any way but it felt as though my bits down tehre were trying to work but its was causing really bad pain inside around the bone of vagina..can this be something from gluten or do you think its candidas from my hormone stuff

:( Thanks for listening Iam worried

  6. Hello Thanks for your help guys...

Iam bumping this up again as Iam now waiting for a pituitary MRI scan...

The only thing thats confusing is my tsh is different on two sets of blood tests:

    Thyroid Tests

    TSH.....2.94 (0.27 - 4-20) OCTOBER

    FT4.....13.6 (12.0 - 22.0) *only 16% in range

    TSH:.......0.68 (0.27 - 4.20)NOVEMBER

    FT4.........13.2 (12.0 - 22.0) *only 12% in range

    FT3...........3.5 (4.0 - 6.8) *deficient

    TGAbs.....<0.9 (0-4.9) *Negative

    TPOAbs..<0.25 (<9) *Negative

October tests were done at 4pm which ive been told is not a good time of day to do it anay way and i had been drinking lots of coffee to function and smoking - i think this alters the test???

The second one NOVEMBER - was at 1.10 pm and i hadnt drunk any caffine..

I have beentold taht these tests shold be done in the morning really tahts when they are at there lowest and before drinking caffine etc????

If thats the case my November test would be even lower..

Thanks sorry only just come back to reply not been so good

  8. Ive just thought of something..ignore me if this sounds silly..XX

Addisons has high potassium right!! Well, due to such bad candidas, swelling, nausea..etc..anxiety, change in personality..i stay away from candida foods..

Well, all my symptoms sound like addisons even got the black freckles didnt realise til last few days that was a symptom..but my potassium is bottom of the range..so i thouhgt it cant be..

I googled potassium foods and i dont have any apart from chicken and i dont have that everyday..so could i be treating it and messing tests..i eat lots of sea salt and no potassium foods!!!!!

What do you think..and thinking about it..the symptoms iam getting when i do eat them foods is swelling, muscle weakness, spasm, nausea change in personality..etc..

Maybe its tme i started eating bananas!!!!

    xxTHanks for listening Mand

  9. Well at the bgeining I went to a homeopath for 8 months she took everything out that i had problems with but I was having bad cases of hypoglycemia and tiered etc..

I know i cant eat: sunflower oil, wheat etc, processed foods, tomatoes, carrotts (I seem to really react with hi gu stuff) sometimes i even get up in the night needing sugar thats hypoglycemia..

I have a low thyroid and deficent estrogen tried using soya to get my estrogen up but then I have thyroid problems more, feel cold etc..but soya is a goitrogen..so its affecting my thyroid, which ive been taking armour for..

My skin problems etc came about whilst doing gluten challenged and stopping birth control this is what tells me even more so its hormones. The hospital in london said its Ovartian Failure or pit problem as my estrogen is at menopause levels and has been for a few years..

The right sided muscle problem isnt just a little spasm here and there its locked has been since june 207..but its does fluctuate with the fatigue that comes on..if i try and excerise I dont sweat really and afterwards it wipes me out and i notice the cravings for salt even more must be dehydration..

Iam constantly going for a wee 15 times a day..i think I have gluten intolerance not celiac. MY brother has been ested for celiac and he hasnt got it via bloods, he has been having problems also dioreah and some foods affect him. We just did gluten free and its not celiac..he has problems when stressed or when he has a cold it makes him very ill for a t least a month..looses weight etc..and he has the jaw problems aswell

Thanks hun..going to take some more bvits anyway like you said but my diet that seems to make me okay is

meat, veggies (no carrot or stachy veggies), eggs, fish, pumkin seeds, oilive oil, olives cant eat any fruit!! I cant eat like this forever!!!

    Thanks hunx

Addison's has been associated with Celiac. Check here for more info on that:

    https://www.celiac.com/categories/Celiac-Di...-and-Disorders/

Given the symptoms of your relatives, I'd say it is a genetic problem, and I wouldn't rule out Celiac just because of negative tests. You wouldn't be the first one on this board to have negative tests. However, have you considered additional intolerances? Many need to avoid more than just gluten to feel better.

Spasms are common, and can be a sign of nutritional deficiencies. Magnesium and B12 are just two which you may need. You may need lots of B vitamins too. I had a lot of twitching and spasms until I started taking those. I was also constantly thirsty, and used a lot of salt for awhile. However, I eventually discovered I needed potassium, and it has helped tremendously. The fatigue can also be caused by deficiencies, as can many of the other symptoms you've mentioned.

The distended belly does eventually subside, though it can take awhile. I'm sure you already know the connection to Celiac there.

How long have you been on a gluten-free diet? How strict have you been with it? Have you eliminated other suspect foods at the same time?

  10. I think MIllet is high GI and if you have PCOS you have insulin reisistance whilst your insulin is high it will effect pcos..i reckon you stablised your blood sugar / insulin with diet change!!

    Hi everyone:

I hope everyone is doing great on this beautiful Saturday.

I have posted about Amennorhea before, but things are a bit different for me this time.

An ultrasound showed polycystic ovaries, so my doc says that I have PCOS. I have always had amennorhea right from day 1. I went years without a period until I stopped eating gluten. As soon as I stopped, I started getting my period roughly every 5 weeks. But then, it stopped again and I couldn't figure out why. Turns out I had switched to Millet bread for 1.5 years. I decided that maybe it was the bread and switched to a different gluten-free bread, and what do you know....I have had 2 periods in a row after 1.5 years of amennorhea.

My doctor wants to put me on birth control pills because of the PCOS, but I don't think I need them. I am convinced that the problem is gluten, but she thinks it's just a "coincidence".

I don't think I have PCOS, even though I have the Polycystic Ovaries. I think the ovaries are the way they are due to years of eating gluten and more recently, millet. Something was preventing the eggs from fully releasing, and I am certain that eating gluten was directly the culprit. What I want to know is how this all works from a biological standpoint. My doc thinks there is no relationship, but I am not convinced because I know that as soon as I start eating wheat or millet, my periods will stop again. Anyone know what the scientific connection is between gluten and amennorhea? It seems crazy that I would have a systemic reaction like this, but I know that the problem is the wheat.

  11. Hi guys..I am waiting to go into barts havent been here a while thought i had celiac but now had 7 blood tests and a biopsy..they think its relating to endocrine..maybe its the candida giving me the food probs dunno what do yuou think:

    Addisons??

Estrogen very low 33 yearsold no period for 1.5 years

    Thyoid low

Diagnosed systemic candidas by GP - in finger nails, bottom, thrush, oral thrush and feet..

    Fatigued

    Nausea

    Thin

Distsned belly (more so wjhen very teired (which i get on gluten free) so I think its low cortisol

    Sudden shock last year :

Right side of face spasm causing facial weakness, neck spasm, spasm arm and leg right side causing weakness

    Dioreah

    weight loss looked anorexic

    Tremors

    Out of it

    Change in personality

Back pain right side back bottom of ribs area

    nausea

I keep getting espisodes noticed more so wheni am stressed muscle weakness, nausea, dizzy..

If excersise my salt craving is very bad feel bit better once eaten some salt..

Have to keep drinking tea for energy

I am not sure whether I have just gluten intolerance or whether the foods I eat making me ill are affecting me if iam an addion patient!!

    So confused:(

My nan ha had problems for years collpasing with shock, fainting with upset, allergies to foods, anemia, big swollen belly, very thin etc..

and now my brother is showing signs also been tested for celiac he is worse with stress, dioreah, lossing weight, tired fatgued, weak, some times a bit constipated feeling..symptoms all worse with stress..

I think we have polyglandular automiune disease with candida, addisons and parapthyroid

But has anyone heard of the spasms??

    xxx

  12. Do you think this could be due to the high potassium content in bananas? I thought addisons affects your electrolytes and potassium / sodium??

I think I have addisons, I have been tested 6 times for celiac and a biopsy, been diagnosed with systemic candida and waiting to go endocrine at barts as have deficent estrogen and low thyroid..

I ve had a spasm which has caused weakness in my right side face, arm, leg since june 2007 which was triggered by a big shock, i suffered chronic dioreah, tremors, lost weight very fast, anxiety, change in personality, nausea, dizzy ..also suffer bad hypoglycemic episodes and had seizure..

Ive had a scan and its not a stroke so I cant help but think I have polyendocrine ..

My weakness fluctuates with my fatigue that comes on ..i crave salt very badly especially when ive tried to excersise aswell..

Iam going into barts for testing should i eat gluten free do yuou reckon? Dont want to screw the results. Docs were gonna put me on hrt (32yearsold) but they then deciede this will screw my results and endocrine i went to 2 years ago never took me off pill which masked my low estrogen..

    ASny addisons with spasm, constant..??

    xx

I don't know much about Addison's, but I do know that banana's are very high in carbs. Celiac's don't digest carbs the best. Eat banana's that are very very ripe only - lots of dark brown spots. (Who like's them this way???)
  13. Hi,

    Thanks ever so much..

Okay, I didnt realise about the chick peas I'll stop them and the soya milk then I dont eat raw veggies anyway..and see what happens. Ive gone right off tuna so only have a couple of times a week..

Surley, eating a few chick peas wont of caused my hormone problems?? I suppose what you mean is my diet is making the problem worse ??

I'll drop the chick peas, I just feel better with hardly any carbs and pulses dont seem to bloat me as badly. Praps ill try butter bean, flogot and lentils and stuff like that next then.

I did start drinking teh soya as it contained so many vitmains and Id read that it can raise etrogen and mine is very low and i am feeling symptoms from teh low estrogen and seeing them my skin etc..

Thank so much for your support Id love to become a nurtitionist when i am all better.

Ive just seen an oral consultant as my jaw is out of line, he said its due to my muscles in my face he said the muscles are very tense in the right side and has given me some antidepressant that they use as a muscle relaxer. I ve checked it to see if its okay with celiac, canddia etc and it is but i dont really want to take it to be honest..Id rather wait another two weeks and find out exactly whaqts caused it cause iam scared taking things when not diagnosed yet and i am seeing so many different doctors..

Thank, you advice is greatly appreciated guys..

    Big hug

    mandxx

  14. Wow... that really is confusing. :( Your diet looks quite good, although with malabsorption it's possible that you still have some vitamin and mineral deficiencies.

One place you might try for help is this: Open Original Shared Link

    Hi ya.

Ha ha thats where I go for help Lethal Lee has been excellent..

I am apparently not celiac either!!! I had a blood test at the begining before taking foods out and was negative. The after homeopath candida diet doctor said do biopsy but had been on the diet and I had only been eating for the challenge : porrige and then 4 slices of bread at lunch as was trying to do low carb..silly moo lol..

Then it came back negative..but during teh 5 weeks of eating gluten etc I came off the birth control pill and my face started bloating out and other weird symotoms like sweating and stuff oh and my skin changed dry, loss of elesticity, pale and very dehydrated looking whith fine wrinkles on my cheeks ....I am only 32 years old..

So thats what makes me think its more hormones..I have read that fine wrinkled cheeks and pale skin is a sign of hypo pit and also growth hormone deficency...

I also had a car accodent a year before this all started and I had noticed the constipation and sinus allergies and some fatigue a while before it all kicked off big time 3 years ago after my operation for a big cyst in my groin!!!

I am a very complex pateint i think..

    Thanks

    Take care

    xx

  15. Since your TSH is well within range and you're negative for thyroid antibodies, but your free T3 is below normal... I would say your pituitary gland is not stimulating your thyroid enough. The MRI might help. A visit to a good endocrinologist might help too. The adrenal-pituitary-thyroid cortex regulates your reproductive hormones, so that could explain why your other numbers are off.

Another thought... how is your intake of essential fatty acids? (Omega 3, 6, 9) Is your cholesterol low? People get so worried about high cholesterol that they forget about the opposite problem... a certain level of cholesterol is needed for your body to produce reproductive hormones.

    Hello,

Thank you for your reponse :)

Well, I use oilve oil with my cooking, I eat tuna and salmon once a week. I cant tolerate sunflower oil it blocks my nose and swells my belly dont know why so i do steer clear of sunflower oil..

Ive had high cholesterol several times but thats been mainly after being very down about not knowing whats wrong and going on a little binge chocolate etc..

I am now using flaxeed, oilve oil and taking cod liver oil and also trying to eat a few brazil nuts a day..I cant tolerate fat on meat i feel really queezy when i do ..

Barts - They are doing a complex scan of my head so I am hoping they will be able to see my pituitary glad to see whats going on. It seems crazy though I have been seing a pituitary specialist who has said my hormones are all normal!!?? Apart from not having periods and teh cysts..they have just scanned me and i have pcos, bu Iam not hariry spotty, over weight and my testosterone is certainly not high!! So Iam confused at how teh pituitary woman can say its all normal..

However she was testing me for hypopit - but didnt test my growth hormone so I questioned why she didnt test it and she said its not idicated at present??!! So, I dont know if due to teh normal T4 results she didnt go on to test me for hypo pit..I had my T3 tested privately ....

    I am so confused..

Alos I was wondering could my hormones be affected by my diet with regards to iodine..lack off

Ive been reading and since I have swtiched my diet due to possible celiac I only really eat:

    Sea salt no iodine

    Eggs - 4-5 times a week

    Chick peas, kidney Beans etc

Meat white, red once a week

Tuna every day, salmon once a week (fatty stuff makes me feel sick)

    Brazil nuts

    No milk - allergic

TRying to use soya milk more when i remember

    Veggies

No fruit - get reactions with candida

So, I am going to go back to table salt and see if that helps as Ive read has iodine but hoped the eggs would be giving me enough??

    Thank you

I am so confused and have so much going on. I had a sudden attack of right sided weakness last year which s why Barts are scanning me but he thinks if nothing pressing on anythingits due to something else..

  16. What about Cushings ...do you have moon face, hump, big belly, anxiety, trouble sleeping, stretch marks..??

Dont want to put something else in your mind to worry you but people really get the run around from nhs with that I thought i had it and when you go onto cushings-support.com they all have seen loads of endos..

  17. Hello, Christmas greetings to you all..

I havent been here for a while, following gluten free diet but still not feeling well!!

I was taken off the pill as getting menapause symptoms, no period over a year, loss of skin elasticty, dry skin, puffy face, fatigue, foggy brain, muscle weakness, depression, loss of muscle mass, belly fat but slim else where etc..

My results showed very low estrogen 6 months after stopping the pill and they sent me to a pituitary specialist. The bloods came back with my t4 13.2 (12-22) so it was low but NHS said all normal..

So after speaking to a few people I went to a private doctor and he said teh NHS dont test your T3 and your hormonal panel like we can. So I had a full hormone panel private and my T3 is low and all my hormones seem a bit low..

He has put me on 1/2 a gram of armour & DHEA said my thyroid is causing it all.

Then I had a scan of my ovaries and have lots of cysts and the london nhs hospital said I now need testing for diabtes and insulin resistance for pcos syndrome..I dont have oily skin, spotts of hairy body and i seem to be loosing weight (diet is quite restrictive though having to eat very low carb)..

The private doctor doesnt think I have pcos syndrome as my tesosterine isnt high..I am so confused just wondered what you guys thought as you all make much more sense than doctors!!!

    Thanks everyone

  18. Hello Thanks guys..

They have also checked: Growth Hormone, Thyroid antibodies and CRP and something else. I got these results as I hasseled the blood department but they only faxed half the tests over. When i spoke to the hospital they couldnt believe Id managed to get them. They told me the pit consultant will be writing to me with results and a follow up apointment and hopefully know whats wrong.

The thing is I dont think I am always hypothyroid if that makes sense, I can relate to many of the symptoms but I have massive crashes of hypo symptoms and also weeks where I am manic all the time!! NIght time I am wide awake even if I ve been fatigued in the day. Its weird. I wake in the night quite a bit aswell and keep having episodes of waking up as if with adrenaline, jumping up. I hurt my wrist the other night, my heart was racing it was scarry.

My skin has gone vefry thin aswell, loss of elasticty, boobs have deflated i m not that over weight either really but its all in my belly, i m about 10lbs over weight , feels like ive lost muscle tone ...its all a nightmare..

I'll post my results when i get them. I went to a highly recommended Pituitary Specialist who lectures for the pituitary foundation. She was ever so nice so hopefully shes gonna be able to help me.

    Fingers crossed

    xx

  19. HI

Ive seen pit specialist, the week leading up to it i stayed gluten free for the first whole week for a year since my right sided weakness hit me last year. I know i m stupid but been so depressed and kept going off diet hoping they would help me..

Anyway I have some of the results not all of them. They sent me there due to low estrogen and no periods, the funny thing is I had a one day bleed the week before my appointment and I was gluten-free..so poss to do wth celiac but I am not diagnosed that either and theres no way i can go back to eating for 5 weeks again..

Heres my results just wondered if anyone could see any thing strange. She has mentioned hypopiturisum, hasmitos encaplitis ..

I think my cortisol looks a bit high for 5 pm. My T4 is low normal and tsh normal could this mean i need synthroid??

I am waiting the rest of results and havent had letter yet from pit specialist so gotta wait and see. My potassium nd sodium look a bit weird..

Thanks alot really apreciate your help ...xxxxxxxxxx

    Hi Guys,

I just wondered what you thought of my results I havent received them all yet. Ive still got growth hormone and some others. Some one noticed that my FT4 is a bit low but my TSH is normal - Ive goggled it as you do and it does mention central hypothyroidisum..
