    ARCHIVED Scd Diet

I got very sick a back in January with intestinal troubles. Lost about 40 pounds within a month, constant D, nausea, couldn't eat or drink, had to have weekly IV's. Doctors said they thought it was celiac (negative blood tests) but I didn't get any better on gluten free diet. Had to go on medical leave because I was so weak...wound up in hospital for 6 days...
  2. I have to agree with capshert. I too was plagued by constant fatigue & sleepiness for years. I kept going to doctor after doctor saying "I'm so tired I can't get through the day, I have to take naps all day, then I sleep 8-12 hours a night and wake up feeling like I ran a marathon!" They kept saying I was depressed, most never tried to find any apparent...
  3. Donna- how did you finally figure out what all of your intolerances were? Going gluten & casein free was nothing compared to actually doing the SCD by the book. It's REALLY tough not to have any of the contrabands! Oh well I'm so miserable now in my current state I guess it doesn't really matter how restrictive a diet is because I can't really eat...
  4. These looked super yummy when they made them, I can't wait to try out the recipe! The bakery is in NYC and is all gluten & allergy free because she's a fellow celiac, I wish we had one of those bakeries here! I just had to share the recipe though! Makes about 5 dozen mini brownies Note: This recipe is free of wheat, gluten, dairy, casein, and eggs...
  5. This was on Martha Stewart today, normally I don't care for her show but I had to catch it because they looked so yummy! The girl has a bakery in NYC with nothing but gluten-free & allergy free food in it, could you imagine! She's a fellow celiac. Cinnamon Toasties Serves about 10 Note: This recipe is free of wheat, gluten, dairy, nuts, casein...
  6. OK so I've always had GI problems but never thought that I had Celiac, call me naive but I just always thought a 6 minute digestive track was normal. Then about 2 months ago I abruptly starting having continuous D, nausea, loss of appetite, tachycardia, weakness, worsening symptoms of my dysautonomia- to the point that I've required weekly IV's and have lost...
  7. It is probably definately related to the new Mg supplements. Try cutting back to just one a day for awhile and maybe work up to two if you need them. Classic symptom of too much magnesium is diarrhea. That's usually how a lot of people who take Mg kind of know how much they need to take is when they reach the point of D, they back up until their stools return...
  8. I too have been wondering if I am also suffering from Addison's disease. I go back to my doctor tomorrow and am going to ask him to check my cortisol levels. My health severely diminished about 2 months ago and have had to go on medical leave due to D, weight loss, nausea, loss of appetite, dehydration etc. We immediately suspected Celiac because I had always...
  9. I think this is pretty common among celiacs but also many people with other autoimmune diseases. It can be pretty scary when you quit feeling your feet and hands like you should and can't remember things like before! I have a lot of neuropathy issues also. Mine are mostly caused from malabsorption and pernicious anemia (low B12). A good fish oil omega three...
  10. I am still in the beginning stages of finding out if I am celiac or not. However, my question is about dairy. I have always known that I am lactose intolerant but have been able to eat some things without "apparent" consequences. If I'm going to eat pure milk products or processed cheeses then I take Lactaid and I'm usually ok. For those of you with dairy...
  11. So I'll try to keep this fairy short but I've been diagnosed with a long list of problems throughout the last few years and my doc finally decided maybe it was celiac. My dx & sx include Vit D, Vit B12, and Iron Deficiencies, severe fatigue, peripheral neuropathy, fibromyalgia (recent onset since the stomach stuff has gotten worse it seems), GERD, narcolepsy...
