  1. Hi, I take Extra Strength Tylenol, fast acting. It has helped MOST of the time. The other night I was in so much pain I was almost ready to take 2 more. But I wouldn't. Anyway, they help most of the time and they are gluten free. The pain sucks, doesn't it? And is frustrating.

    ARCHIVED Doctors At Dartmouth (dhmc)

Hey Sara: sorry about my last post, but as you can imagine, it's an emotional issue for me. I should have just politely said, "No, I don't know of a good pcp at DHMC". But, if you want, I can tell you where my neice went to get tested. He's a pcp about 40 min south of dartmouth. One of my sisters says he's a granola, but another sister and her...

    ARCHIVED Doctors At Dartmouth (dhmc)

  4. Doctors! I know just how you feel! How do you feel about going to Columbia University Celiac Center in NYC? I don't want to steer you in the wrong direction, because as someone else on this site has said, Dr. Green is great but not good about calling you back. However, they may take your insurance and if it's a diagnosis you're looking for, this might...

ARCHIVED Dr. In South Western Nh?

Hi, I'm sorry to here about your ongoing symptoms. However, this is interesting to me because I have been going through something similar--with the being off balance and the memory problems, etc. I am also trying to find a doctor, a new primary care doctor for now, that will address these symptoms so I can find out how to get better. I would be willing...
  6. Here's a link from this website (Celiac.com) under the Unsafe food list. Go to the bottom and you'll see info about Natural Flavoring. https://www.celiac.com/st_prod.html?p_prodi...-55107355257.e3
  7. Hi, I know you have already received many great responses, but I thought I'd respond anyway. Prior to going gluten free, I wasn't even aware of what celiac was. Many, many people in my family are anemic and have trouble taking iron. My mom used to say it just builds up in our intestines and we don't absorb it-- and apparently she was right. I was very...
  8. Bloating- my mom had skinny pants and fat pants, depending on what she had eaten. Also, the best ways I can think of to describe it is a really bad beer gut (that seems to go away) or you look pregnant (you know, if you were a woman). My daughter asked me, before I knew anything about Celiac, why so many people in our family have a gut! I would definatley...
  9. My main question is, how would you define the fatigue?
  10. Welcome to the board. Although none of us wants to find out we have a disease, it is good to have answers. If it is celiac, it will help you find out what to do to help yourself heal and begin to get better. It will take time. But this is a great place to start! Dee
  11. Thank you for helping to protect our country! We are all very grateful for people like you. I don't know all the rules & regulations of the military. I pretty sure that if you have diagnosed celiac before joining, you can't join. But I don't know how it works once you're in. I was reading the "Gluten Free Bible" last night and there's something...
  12. I know what you mean about the stairs. I work on the second floor and there are stairs and an elevator. I take the elevator because the stairs make me anxious -- especially when I'm glutened. Some people at work have made some rude comments. But I don't care. I don't take the stairs if I feel uncomfortable about it. It would be awful if the two...
  13. Hi, Sherry. Thanks for this informative reply. I think you might be right. I've heard that some of the neurological symptoms are from a certain gene. I know my mom had this same problem too. She kept walking around like she was drunk-- just like you said. (She never drank in her life) I'm going to mention it to my specialist though and see what he thinks...
  14. Thank you. This helps alot. Mine were 366. Just show you'll know, the lab the Celiac Center used states the reference levels are 279 to 996. So, by this lab, yours is way too low!

    ARCHIVED Dentist

Right. And this is good. I had already called the dentist's office prior to my appointment. But I think she was asking as she was reading my chart and hadn't noticed that yet. I think it should be on the outside of the file and big and bold somehow like they do with your allergies.
  16. Hope some of you out there can help me with this. I've been gluten-free since maybe Nov/Dec (it took a couple of months to get the hang if it). But my son's home from college now and it's the first time we have gluten in the kitchen. I've been screwing up or having lots of cc issues alot lately. So, my question is about equilibrium problems. Whenever...

    ARCHIVED Dentist

That's really good! It's funny, last time I went to the dentist (about 3 weeks ago) the hygienist asked the same thing, and I said, yes, Celiac Disease. And she said, "really? me too!" So we spent a lot of time discussing the disease, diagnosis, foods, shopping. Best time I've ever had at the dentist!

    ARCHIVED Doctor Won't Test Son

I guess it's hard to know if he's really asymptomatic until he's tested. And if he tests positive, it may be like you said, and he'll look back at things and understand better why he had those things going on. It's easier with my daughter, who I also have to get tested (and we're working on it) but she has hip pain and other things going on. And I think...
  19. Sorry!!!! here's the link: Open Original Shared Link
  20. Here's an interesting link for you. Go to C. Additional Conditions. Then you can right click on the first one if you want more information. It definately can be related to celiac disease.

    ARCHIVED Doctor Won't Test Son

Thank you so much! Because I was actually wondering about this: if you went gluten free would symptoms start to slowly appear. Right now I'm in kind of a rural area and trying to find a celiac friendly doctor isn't easy. But I think I will try to bring him to the doctor that was willing to test me. He seemed pretty open about it. Thanks.

    ARCHIVED Doctor Won't Test Son

"Family members who already have an autoimmune disease are at a greatly increased risk to have celiac disease (25%)." Yeah, try telling this to my sister with Lupus and celiac symptoms who refuses to get tested!! I think she should meet Jerry's brother! Anyway, thank you for the valuable information. This is good to have.
