  1. Well, I am sad about diet choices. My low oxalate trial seemed equivocal; although improvement in bloating, no help with the fatigue and brain fog. But when I tried a significant amount of almonds (crackers made of flour, and a peach crisp) I immediately bloated severely. I also bloated slightly after yogurt today when the last 2 times I tried it was fine...
  2. Peas are easier to digest than the other legumes in the pecanbread list. I do okay on them.
  3. Also, lentils are a legume and thus an advanced food for SCD. Maybe it is too much for you at this point. I haven't dared try legumes.
  4. Wow, thanks Pele. Perhaps that could explain my fatigue!!! The timing fits for when I got worse, and the timing each day could relate. Another "maybe answer" to try.
  5. Welcome, Hippo. I second what Ali says, the cravings right at first can be very high. Mine subsided in a week or 2, but at first it feels pretty awful. Jello, fruit juice (legal), and especially the fats can be helpful. With your level of exercise, you may need to snack regularly. Perhaps drinking juice instead of water initially? Raisins and nuts...
  6. Yes, I've been hypothyroid for years. Do well on Armour.
  7. Yes, my purchased local raisins could have additives-likely do. In this country there is no way to know. I used my probiotic (Kirkman acidophilus) for the initial batch of cabbage juice although the recipes say you don't need starter. I soak my cabbage leaves in water with apple cider vinegar and salt (supposed to help remove pesticides), then in clean...
  8. I might have made some progress with bloating, C and fatigue, though I have to give it longer to make sure it is a shift. I went to all low oxalate foods last Sunday (SCD compliant). So far this has been the best week in quite a few. I did bloat last night; my explanations is raisins. I ate quite a few, and though low oxalate, on SCD is it more advanced...
  9. Pele, after reading your post I am homesick for the NW! Ali, have you considered the oxylate issue? A friend just mentioned that again, and I looked over the list. A few things did click, so I'm thinking of trying tracking that next week and see if it makes a difference.
  10. Ali, yeah, this is also my experience. Like I cut back on the yogurt and bloat anyway. Eat the same stuff the next day and don't bloat. I do think that the food combining idea may have merit. The next 2 days will be very light with just carbs for the liver f., and even though it is "carbs" my swelling and bloating have been going down when I do that...
  11. Well, I think I have to try making the probiotic cabbage juice I'm reading about on many sites. That sounds palatable, and would give me an alternative to goat milk, at least for a DF trial. Also just the liquid I should be able to tolerate. Was doing fine for a couple of days and today, another bout of nausea, bloating, achy. I'm still thinking it...
  12. Pele, what do the fermented veggies taste like? I've never cared for sauerkraut, and kimchi is so spicy hot here I've not even been interested. Chinese cabbage is common here of course, so that would be a good thing for me to try, I suppose.
  13. This looks awfully good if you can handle nuts and seeds! Open Original Shared Link I'm saving a copy for later, (with hope, lol)
  14. I have a similar question for Portland, Oregon. I'd love to find a safe place to eat out that isn't hugely expensive, so I can meet friends/family for a meal. I get tired of carrying my food to any and every social event. Rhoger1, how far advanced are you on the diet? If you are handling nuts, and have access to a fridge, you can make muffins or other...
  15. Pele, good question. I've pondered the connection of stress to my symptoms but it doesn't seem to have a direct pattern. If I am not feeling well, my tolerance of stress goes down, and yet when I feel better it seems to bounce right back. Also sometimes I'm sick in a non stress period and fine in a stress period. Unless my responses are quite delayed...
  16. Hi Michelle, The broth days did help, and things are somewhat better. I did one day of broth, and one day of broth plus carrot/chicken pureed soup. Toward the end I started adding back a little yogurt. I don't think its enough nutrition, so I've gone back to eating some nuts (homemade crackers) and some soft veggies, and bananas and homemade apple juice...
  17. Wonderful! What an encouragement. In my case (1 year on SCD), my improvement isn't so dramatic but there are multiple factors in my health problems. SCD has made a clear difference, and I stay very strictly SCD compliant--still on the easiest to digest foods.
  18. Welcome, glutenfreeineugene, The fatigue at first is a familiar symptom, and you might have more symptoms when you move into intro. Cravings may be high also for a couple of weeks. Remember that the diet helps kill off parasites and the bad guys in the gut, all of which cause symptoms. I hope you'll stay with it for awhile. What were the symptoms...
  19. Rhoger, It could be part of the adjustment process. Elaine mentions healing crisis are common at the 1 month and 3 month points as I recall, she couldn't expalin it, just observed it often. I agree about the Magnesium, extra vitamin C can also help. On the www.pecanbread.com website is Elaine's protocol for constipation, you could consider that. ...
  20. Yes, soon; toward the end of August for 6 weeks.
  21. Michelle, I didn't do a special kidney cleanse but that part has seemed pretty functional. For me, SCD helped a lot with parasites, but I also did several rounds of treatment recently for strongyloides and protozoa. So I felt pretty confident that I was okay to do the liver cleanse. I'm trying to figure out if it is the amount of yogurt that is the problem...
  22. You're welcome, Michelle. I appreciated receiving Mia's information, it was very similar but I liked several things that I want to incorporate next time. I think anyone who is trying it needs to do their research about what the side effects might be and contraindications. My hope is that ultimately this will help improve my bile salt production,...
  23. Jan, No coffee or tea for me, other than coffee used for detox purposes. I suppose it could be mixing foods, or simply that my system overloads easily or an enzyme problem. My enzyme levels and bile levels are low. In terms of the bloating, I don't think it is the foods themselves, but maybe the amounts of the foods. Its weird that the same food...
  24. I'm still frustrated with trying to figure out how to prevent bloating. I'm wondering if it is a time of day thing, if it has to do with acid/alkali balance, amount of fat in the diet, etc. I was doing fine on my basic SCD foods the last several days, then bloated badly yesterday evening after having yogurt with banana (which I had eaten for breakfast...
  25. Jan, yes that's fine. I already told Ali she could let you know my address. Michelle, I'll need to somehow get an email address in order to send you that information, since I am not allowed to PM here. Basically: I simplified the Hulda Clark protocol to what I had access to. I also did only apple juice for one day before.
