ARCHIVED Dog Treats
tammy replied to tammy's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Your very welcome! P.S. When I asked the doctor if it would be dangerous for me to touch dog snacks that are wheat-free but do contain oats or barley, he didn't think that I needed to worry. -
ARCHIVED Celiac's Can Cause Infertily And Low Testosterone.
tammy replied to a topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I just had my testosterone blood serum levels checked and I am 38 years young! Besides the emotional upheaval and physical symptoms that can manifest, it is a subject worth looking into. There are labs that do saliva testing and it might be worth your time to have your testosterone levels checked. ZRT is one lab that does saliva testing. The real... -
ARCHIVED Hormone Imbalance With Gluten Sensitivity
tammy replied to tammy's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
TESTinME thanks for your input, it was enlightening. It does answer some of my 'why' questions. I just had my testosterone levels checked too. I can't wait to see the test results. What, if any, nutritional supplements do you take to meet your health needs? -
ARCHIVED Skin Cream And Hair Products
tammy posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
For optimal health, I need to be sure to use skin care and hair care products that do not contain wheat. Do they also need to be free of oats and barley? Ironically, both before and after my gluten sensitive diagnosis I did not show any signs of skin allergies. Does anyone fall into this category? Am I being too careful? -
The doctor doesn't want me to touch or use products with wheat. Since we plan on getting a dog that would include not touching most dog treats and dog food. What about dog treats that are only made with oats or barley? Has anyone had any problems when touching dog treats made with oats or barley? I know there are 100% liver treats, which I plan on buying...

ARCHIVED Hormone Imbalance With Gluten Sensitivity
tammy posted a topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Since my diagnosis, I am on the most nutritional, herbal and medicinal support that I have ever been on but I still have food cravings, especially carbs! I realize the hormonal imbalance complicates matters but I am treating the other conditions. So what I want to know is does anyone else have problems with food cravings? Mine seems to be worse in the... -
ARCHIVED Wrigley's Big Red Gum
tammy posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I chewed 1/2 a stick of Wrigley's Big Red Gum today and the top of my tongue feels funny. Almost a very mild numbing sensation but I can feel the roof of my mouth with the top of my tongue. I suppose I will need to try a different gum. I don't remember this happening years ago before my diagnosis but things change. -

ARCHIVED Drinking V8
tammy replied to mario's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Mario, I don't see the connection between bloody stool and drinking V8? Is there a correlation? Thankfully, the hemrrhoid cream was all that you needed to soothe the wound. Gee, do you need a different source of fiber? -
ARCHIVED Gf Married Couple
tammy replied to tammy's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Insight???!!!!!! Personally, how long does one watch a spouse harm themselves...one month, six months, I say when their symptoms start sending out warning signs. I am not referring to flatulence and a little itchy skin. I mean, persistent stomach cramps, chronic loose stool, chronic fatigue etc. Does everyone make lifestyle changes overnight? Are my... -
ARCHIVED Gf Married Couple
tammy replied to tammy's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I can only imagine the frustration that you experienced when you visited relatives most recently!!! I was diagnosed by Enterolab and had the gene test also. My husband tested positive for the IGg blood test taken by our primary care physician. So at least he did get tested and it did show positive. It is a start! Companies are making tasty gluten... -
Hi all of you courageous people, I love this site and it has been a great support! I am fortunate in that both my husband and are gluten sensitive. It makes life easier when your partner can relate to your disease. I was diagnosed about one year prior to him and was shocked when he too tested positive. As irony would have it, he was diagnosed with...

ARCHIVED Different Topic!
tammy replied to YankeeDB's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I agree with Mariann. I asked my Doctor the same question. This is a valid question. It is what becomes digested that matters most but I would take the same precautions as stated by Mariann. Most people want to look and smell their best before kissing anyway, so a quick mouthwash and gluten-free chapstick sounds great to me. Alcohol free mouthwash seems... -
Hi, I am gluten-free since December 2002! Although, while I had my stool test for celiac's I ate two products that contained gluten. One was my milk substitute drink that had barley malt and my carob bar also contained barley malt. My stool test showed positive for gluten sensitivity along with my gene test however, I didn't have intestinal...

Yesterday and today I tried about 1/4 cup of cooked oatmeal by McCann's. So far, so good!!!!! A wheeze is my usual red flag for gluten and dairy or too much of a good thing. My pattern is that if a new ingredient doesn't cause a wheeze within the first two days, then it won't at all. I will eat the oatmeal a third day but this is a great sign!

ARCHIVED Hunts - Distilled Vinegar
tammy replied to cyberbec's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I use Heinz Ketchup and Hellmann's Mayonnaise. I do not have any problems with either of them. We love them both. I will be trying Gold's products. A recent e-mail response said that all of their products are gluten-free! French's website claims to have a gluten-free mustard. So I will let you know about that too. Currently we use a horseradish... -
ARCHIVED Gf Vaginal Yeast Creams
tammy replied to tammy's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I see Sarah's point. I agree with the fact that anything that compromises my immune system is not worth using. Of course, how far does one wants to take this standard is completely a personal choice. Until I feel stronger or research proves otherwise, I prefer to be sensible but cautious. Although I have never had any skin reactions to touching any... -
Thank you for the reply. I will try them soon. I will start out with a small amount since I haven't had oat products in over 13 months!
