ARCHIVED New Gf Fiber Bar
tammy posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I tried three great new fiber bars today. The lemon bar was good but too strong a lemon flavor for my liking. The ones that I purchased are gluten-free, Dairy-Free, Soy-Free, Raw Food, No added sugar and no preservatives. I tried the cranberry and purchased it. I also tried the chocolate dream, wow, chocolately, sweet, packed with 14g of fiber in one... -
ARCHIVED Gluten In Buckwheat Flour?
tammy replied to SabrinaLuvsGluten's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Both my husband and myself need to be gluten-free. We use the Arrowhead Mills brand of Buckwheat flour and we do not have a problem. The taste is tolerable. My husband seems to like the taste especially when he adds brown rice flour to make the flatbread less gooey. I hope that helps you out. -
Hi, I am so sorry to hear that you did what seemed right to me and still you were sick. I do know how that is soooo frustrating. With that said, I must admit that I decline all catering hall events even from relatives. In the beginning of my gluten-free dietary changes I used to go to the Olive Garden and order Shrimp Primavera without the bread. ...

I knew that at some point my gluten-free special modifications would be thrown into my face by my Mother. At the beginning of the year my Mother informed me of her desire to throw a graduation party for my sibling but at a restaurant that he would enjoy and one that would accomodate me and my husband's ALLERGY. She found one!!!!!!! She made numerous communications...

I see a few different options: 1.) don't go 2.) Offer to bring a dish that you can eat and of course, share with everyone. 3. ) Call them up ahead of time and ask what they are serving and see if it can be made easily as a gluten-free order. 4.) Tell them the truth. 5.) Ask your fiance' to tell them that you are allergic to certain foods, see...

Outback Restaurant offers a gluten-free menu. I called ahead to speak with the Manager to find out what I need to do to assure a gluten-free meal on a Holiday. They decided to leave a note by my name alerting the waitress to my gluten-free needs. Secondly, I can tell the waitress my requests. Third, I need to mention to the waitress, to not include certain...

I found this great recipe for a new twist on beef. I loved it and so did my gluten-free husband. P.S. The cucumber dressing needs to be prepared according to your taste buds. Ingredients 1lb of lean ground beef 1/2 bell pepper, cut into strips 6 mushrooms, quartered 2 green onions, diagnonally cut into 1-inch pieces 1 clove of garlic 1 tablespoon...

ARCHIVED Gf Rice Vinegar
tammy posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Does anyone know of a good, gluten-free rice vinegar? I often use apple cider vinegar as a substitution but I do like variety. -
FYI- I just ate at the Chili's restaurant in Monroe, New York and was pleasantly surprised by their service. Although the beverage server did not know what to say when I asked, " What substitutions or policies to you have for people allergic to wheat?" He did go and get a person who I believe was either a Manager or Kitchen Manager. This person politely...

Hi, I currently take two synthetic thyroid hormones to manage my hypothyroidism. But I am considering switching to Armour if it will improve my health and make me feel good too. Have you switched your thyroid hormones? How did it work for you? Thanks!

Hi, I am considering trying this integrative doctor but first I wanted to know more about him. Any feedback from patients would be helpful. Especially patients with gluten intolerance, hypothyroid, adrenal fatigue etc. THANKS!!!

HUGS FOR EVERYONE!!

Hi, I am a female and I have not had that skin sensitivity however I have read some people with celiac do have a lower testosterone level. Even if the testosterone levels have nothing to do with your current symptom, I might suggest waiting it out and try noticing if you are eating a lot of soy or phytoestrogen foods in your diet. Just a thought, but...

I had to chuckle quietly when I read one of the latter posts about eating the same foods for a few days. I too have done that because I actually enjoyed what I was eating. May I suggest Kasha, buckwheat, by Wolff's. We enjoy it for breakfast, lunch or as a side dish for dinner. We also make our own Roti's, an Indian flat bread, that is of course, gluten...

I simply thought that perhaps I could get some sound support. I am soooooooooo saddened by the complexity of my disorders and the thought of going to a doctor that doesn't take our insurance is astounding. I have finally been able to get my headaches significantly reduced within this month and my anxiety is also significantly reduced for several months...

ARCHIVED Green Barley
tammy replied to flower's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Hi Flower, I wanted to try green barley too so I contacted one company and they did not recommend their barley drink due to gluten. May I suggest an aloe vera drink to help your intestinal tract become less inflammed, Lily of the Valley Whole Leaf Aloe Vera Juice. It is approximately $8.00 and comes in a one quart size. This product is usually available... -
I am blood type O. I was quite diligent in following the diet, no gluten,no corn, no peanuts, the only dairy was butter, figs, prunes, dark green leafy vegetables, certain meats, very little soy, eggs, certain starches, etc. I suppose I did feel better in one regard, but I became so very saddened by the significant permanent dietary changes that now...

ARCHIVED Cleocin Ovules
tammy replied to tammy's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I just read that Cleocin (I quess they are referring to the oral medicine however the precautions are also in my patient leaflet included with the Cleocin Ovules prescription) is recognized for causing C. Difficile (bacterium). This bacterium causes infection of the colon. Pseudomembraneous Colitis is the name of the effects of this bacterium. The solutions... -
My gynecologist prescribed Cleocin Ovules with full knowledge of my gluten sensitivity. The package insert makes it clear that a patient should notify their doctor if they have the following medical conditions: enteritis, ulcerative colitis and pseudomembranous colitis. It also clearly states that cleocin ovules (rarely)might cause a severe intestinal...

Hi debmidge. We usually decline invitations to weddings except for certain family members. I contacted the bride, my cousin, and informed her of our dietary restriction. She was very understanding and said another relative had a special restriction also but that something could be worked out. I asked for the name of reception and called the caterer...

Hi All! I was wondering if anyone has experienced sudden, sharp pain that starts in the toe and lasts up to a minute or more. It happens when walking, sitting or laying down. It is so bad that when walking, my husband will need to stop and lean against an object. Touching him or his foot makes him feel worse. He just has to wait it out. Does anything...

Hi All! I am not certain if there is a definite correlation between hair growth and Selenium, the mineral. But I starting taking 50mcg about 6 weeks ago and I started on support for my adrenals in August. Now in December, both my hairdresser and I see new hair growth!!!!! I certainly do take many supplements so who knows. I used to have thick hair...

Hello, I wanted to start an informal recipe exchange. I thought we would meet once a week, perhaps a Tuesday, and exchange recipes. Most of us are quite busy and anything that decreases our workload and increases our choices for tasty, healthy, and gluten-free meals is always appreciated. RATING SYSTEM Tasty!= T Preparation Time...
