  1. Thank you for sharing your sleeping remedies..it helped! I recently started having an increased inability to fall asleep once I went to bed. I thought that perhaps taking my calcium/magnesium supplement before bed would help to at least relax me enough to fall asleep sooner. Tomorrow I will take my supplement before bed.
  2. Wow! It is sooooo funny to hear that we are not the only people dreaming about our food choices since we have gone gluten-free. I don't dream about it frequently but about a month ago I did dream that I was about to order a pizza or bagel and realized at that very second that I was about to commit a terrible gluten-free error. Soon afterwards I awoke with...
  3. This is so important that it bears repeating. Please have your B 12 and Folic Acid levels checked. My husband's levels started to interfere with his homocystine level. But after daily supplementation he feels better. I didn't feel a big difference but fortunately my doctor did check my levels. He found that the B12 was low. He recommended B12 100...
  4. There can be a connection between hormones too. Natural progesterone can be a wonderful tool for females with seizures and celiac.
  5. Gee, I'm sorry to hear that any of you have symptoms at all. Both my husband and I are gluten-free! Funny neither of us knew we were gluten sensitive when we met. Anyway, I seem to be okay with distilled vodka and vinegars. But I can not have a single piece of gluten touch my plate otherwise I will have a mild wheeze for many hours and then it changes...
  6. We just ate a gluten-free sandwich that was delicious! This health food store has a small-to moderate menu selection. They make both gluten-free and non-gluten-free foods. We had the daily lunch special- Chicken breast with Bacon, lettuce, onion, tomato, and dressing on gluten-free bread. DELICIOUS! They sell high-quality vitamins, beauty products...
  7. Thanks for the tips!! I recently spoke to a customer representative at Arm & Hammer and they assured me that all of their toothpastes are gluten-free. It is good to know that Trojan's are gluten-free but check the lubricants. I haven't checked this year but in the past some of the K-Y Lubricants were gluten-free and others weren't. The customer...
  8. Hi, I have hypothyroid, gluten sensitive, casein sensitive, adrenal issues and hormones issues. I manage my thyroid with Levoxyl and Compounded Sustained Release Cytomel. I seem to feel better when my TSH is around 1.5 but it is a balancing act at best. Yes, you should feel much better once your levels are in a normal range. Are you getting adequate...
  9. Hello, We just had a bad experience at the Smokey Bones Restaurant. We explained our "allergy" to the waitress. However, only later did we realize her lack of understanding and perhaps training in this matter. I ordered a SALAD but declined the grilled chicken due to the marinate. My husband ordered mashed potatoes, steak and steamed broccoli. When my...
  10. I found a website that might shed some light on managing multiple health symptoms: DR. MAJID ALI He is located in NY, NY and Denville NJ. He uses a variety of treatments, mainly oxygen therapy and vitamins. I hope this brightens your day!!
  11. Hi, Yes, I have very similar reactions when I eat gluten-free bread. I am most certain that the yeast and natural sugars in the bread add to my candida problem. Enterolab offers tests for Candida and Yeast. But the thing to consider is that every body needs a healthy amount of yeast in their GI tract. Finding your personal balance is key. I will...
  12. Hi All, I was curious to know if anyone has experienced a successful outcome when using homeopathy for the treatment of their moderate to severe adrenal fatigue? I do realize that some symptoms such as allergies, usually have an adrenal component as the root cause. But I am more specifially interested in hearing from people (especially women) who have...
  13. Hi All, If you are looking for a new gluten-free dining experience, then consider Nellie's Naturals. It is a small healthfood store packed with inventory and a lunch menu. The store just opened and they have an attached patio for outdoor eating. Here are some of the menu choices:( Wheat-free and Gluten-Free is always an option!) Salads: baby greens...
  14. Hello, I plan on travelin' from out of town to Brooklyn just to shop at a gluten-free Bakery. Does anyone know of any place in Brooklyn that could serve a gluten-free meal? Thanks!!
  15. Hey Rob, Thanks for your input! A gluten-free/WF bakery in Chester, hooray! We are going to check out a gluten free bakery in Pennsylvania soon. Thanks for your availability!
  16. Hi, I switched dog foods to the brand Sensible Choice Adult Chicken formula. I believe that their ingredients did not contain wheat. I wanted a better food for my dog but I also was tired of wearing gloves when scooping out the food and I did not want any gluten in my kitchen. I had to switch the doggie treats for the same reason. I used cheese and...
  17. I think it depends on what you are looking to obtain from an appointment with a Nutritionist. My nutritionist was definitely worth seeing and paying out of pocket(OUCH) But I believe he had extensive knowledge, wisdom and experience. I believe he had a PhD. in his field of education. But I also do agree that there is so much information here and...
  18. Wow, I see that we are really spread out. But be that as it may, it is still a great opportunity for us. I ate at Bugaboo Creek when I was first diagnosed with gluten and the Manager and staff were great at accommodating my dietary needs! Once in a blue moon we travel out to Poughkeepsie because it is a bit of hike for us. They do have a great...
  19. Actually, I have had cycles like clock-work since my teen years but then in then since I reached my 30's the changes started. I have been gluten-free since 12/02. And I really don't remember there being any changes in my cycle. But you know the progesterone cream really helped stop my menstrual cramps!!! Now that I am in Perimenopause who knows what...
  20. Hi, I enjoy our local Thai restaurant. But I have never eaten Vietnamese food. What is sate? And what is Nuoc Cham Sauce? I do like tamarind and peanuts as well as coconut but I don't know if these sauces are gluten-free. I suppose I have to ask for each dish. Does anyone know the vietnamese word for gluten or wheat? Thanks!!

  22. I have a few ideas for eating more protein at breakfast: tofu Silk Soy Milk hummus-the bean is already partially broken down and they come in so many tasty varieties! Eggs, boiled, fried, scrambled, omelettes(Omelettes are great for adding veggies and garlic to them) gluten-free Protein Drinks (I think ALL in One is a gluten-free drink mix??) Turkey...

    ARCHIVED Gf Dining Out

Happy Mother's Day I took my mom out to Outback's and I must say it was an all around good dining experience. The waitress wrote down all of the do not do's on her note pad and told her manager and she claimed that the manager followed through to ensure that there was no gluten in my meal. I ordered the gluten-free ribs and specifically asked...
  24. Improved health and feeling much better is proof enough. I know that chronic health issues are well...chronic. I also know that a gluten-free diet healed bowels will make a difference. If your thyroid is stable and managed well that is wonderful. My osteopenia has not shown any significant positive changes in my past two dexascans even with the gluten...
  25. I baked a gluten-free cake made with chestnut flour, excellent! I am not sure of the name of the mix, I think it is Dowd & Dowd. If I use it again I will post it for you. I love Carob, it is close to cocoa but seems to sit better with most people.
