  1. Hi, I have a 22 yr old son who has been gluten-free for over 2 years. It remains to be determined how thrilled he is with me when he finds out I did this. I am NOT posting to find him romance, (he can take care of that fine himself) but it would be nice if there is a celiac or 2 at wyotechs campus or vicinity for ya'all to maybe get together. He is a 'motorhead...
  2. Please see your gyno, I started perimenopause at about your age and by 41 my periods had stopped. I was told it (the peri) was 'in my head', just like my IBS, fibromyalgia and incontinence. Everything has resolved in the 2 years since diagnosis and my gyno told me he sees signs my periods may start again. (at 48!) Stay gluten-free and talk to your doctor...
  3. Please get yourself tested, I could have written what you wrote only add ataxia, (that made everyone think I drank!), and severe arthritis. I thought only my upset stomach would go away after diagnosis, everything did. Even my hair grew back, and what is growing back is brown, not the white is was before. Times a wasting, get tested and you might get your...

I hope you get him to be tested it sounds like he will be positive. It also is much easier to clear the 'demon wheat' from your kitchen if no one else brings it in. He also would not need to give up his bread. There are many good gluten-free breads on the market. And pasta and cookies and crackers etc. Good luck, if you are not feeling like a new person...
  5. Malt definately is a no-no. Also, although I keep reading that distilled vinigar from grain is okay I ALWAYS have a reaction from distilled vinigar unless it is from corn or grapes. I avoided all condiments for a long time and still use them sparingly. The first few months on a gluten-free diet can be daunting but it gets a bit easier with time. Good luck...
  6. Well here is one person who has had a definate reaction form licking an envelope. I also have DH though and because I was so sick for so long (15 yrs)- ('it was all in my head-have an antidepressant' was my ex-doctors mantra) I am very sensitive. For me 1 envelope caused DH sores and a flare up of the 1 day depression with 2 weeks of joint and muscle pain...
  7. Yes, What they found on your MRI is called, and I kid you not, UBOs - Unidentified Bright Objects. I was sent to a neuro for ataxia, (feeling off balance), peripherial neuropathy and what they thought were migraines. They found the UBOs, three of them, but said they didn't know what they were from and then said I was depressed! In Europe these are diagnostic...
  8. One thing that noone has mentioned yet is you need to make certain that all your toiletries are gluten-free. Anything that comes in contact with your skin, I even check laundry products. I ended up throwing away most everything after I was diagnosed. The blisters should improve soon but may take awhile to go away completely. Also make sure everything you...
  9. I am not a expert by any means but I would not chance it. Perhaps youjr celebrant could bless a seperate small glass for the celiacs?
  10. My hair fell out also, it got to the point where I estimate I lost about half of it before diagnosis. It is now almost two years and it has grown back, and the best part is the hair that has grown back is brown not grey. ( I started going grey at 16) The result is I now not only feel 20 years younger I look it too! Also many hair products contain gluten...
  11. Hi, My name is Krista I am 48 and I have the Celiac Difference. I was shunted from doctor to doctor from childhood. I was repeatedly tested for diabetes as a child and suffered my entire life from severe episodic depression, ataxia and stomach problems. After my daughter was born I became very ill and they decided I was manic depressive even though I didn...
  12. I have been on the gluten-free diet for almost 2 years now. For myself all symptoms from diarrhea ,gas and bloating to headaches, to fibromyalgia and joint pain resolved within the first two months. Whenever my adult children or myself accidentally ingest even a microgram of gluten we react with symptoms such as the acid reflux pain, joint pain and depression...
