  1. I asked that same question a few months back. The health food store said it was the same thing. NOT TRUE. when a recipie calls for potatoe starch flour, what you want is potatoe starch. In my little experience, most recipes will say potaoe starch and note not flour. Potatoe flour is usually used in very small amounts, starch is used in larger quantities...

  6. I don't know about that brand. My vanilla said the same thing so I called to ask what the alcohol was made from, they told me it was from corn. Get the companies # and call them. It might be safe, but other brands I have called about are gluten-free but not made in a designated gluten-free line, so their is the cross contamination thing also. Good...

The Bette Hagman, Featherlight mix also seams to be the best I have found for a scratch...
  11. After reading your post I was so angry. I have work with the public for numerous years and think ( everyday ) they can't get any worse, but they do. Some people are just so inconsiderate, can they not think of the childs feelings. Not quite the same thing, but 2 days before Halloween my son recieved a birthday invitation for halloween night. My...
  12. hi everyone. I have a question but first I'll give a brief history... My son has been gluten-free for about 2 months now. He does not get sick to his stomach when he eats Gluten ( to my knowledge). Anyway, the first week being gluten-free, his stools were firm and for the first time ever, did not have a fowl odor. I got excited at the thought that this...
  13. My son is now 6, diagnosed in October 2003. He was diagnosed as Hypothyroid at 3 months, no known cause. He never slept, was losing weight and short stature and never had normal stools. At about 3 years I started asking questions about his distended abdomen, was told he just did not have the muscle tone yet. Oh ya, he was also diagnosed asthmatic at about...
  14. I live up north, a few hours from Prince George. My son is the one who is Celiac, diagnosed in October. Your lucky to live on the lower mainland, at least you have places to buy food. I like this message board, but find that alot of the gluten-free food info does not help much because most of the info, I believe pertains to Americans consumers. ...
  15. Is anyone out there from BC?
  16. My son was not diagnosed by biopsy, we went through the motions but the biopsy had to be aborted due to an asthma attack. The DR. said to go ahead with the gluten-free diet and try doing the biopsy next year if I felt comfortable about it. I am scared to try it again because the anesthetic brought on the asthma attack and I have heard that going back on...
  17. Its wonderful you have such thoughtful friends. I am not a teenager but was checking out this posting just to see the views on other children. My son is only 6 but I am so concerned about other peoples reactions to his illness. Children ( and Adults can be so cruel about something unknown). We live in a very small community where their are no other...
  18. I purchased the" Incredible Edible Gluten Free Food For Kids". I was so excited when it came in the mail. I am now disapointed in the book to say the least. I would like to know who proof read it before it was published. I have only tried about 6 of the recipies so far . Four of them have errors. For example, In the directions it would say to add gelatin...
