  1. Sandi I sent you an email. I need your real email address so I can send you the attachment. The packet is really too long to post here as text.
  2. I like this idea. My sister's favorite color is orange and the wedding won't have "colors" per se. I could probably decorate the cake with orange gerberas or orange astromeria. Maybe even an orange or apricot filling in the cake. Ohhhhhhhhh now I'm getting excited.
  3. Yeah, accutane is a witch!! I always looked beautiful on accutane (except for my lips, of course!!) but neither treatment "stuck." My skin is just mega-oily. But casein has made a difference for me. It couldn't hurt to try. :-)
  4. Thanks for all the ideas everyone! I actually think this is going to be fun.... I think I'm going to bake a few test recipes for her this week and see which one she likes best.
  5. I just love, love, love my family doctor. I saw her this morning and made her a packet of my GI history, symptoms, tests and treatments. Also my non-GI symptoms and treatments. I gave several reasons for not wanting the traditional celiac workup, which she accepted as solid. Then I explained my enterolab results and why I think Dr. Fine is onto...
  6. I'm more concerned about CC at McDonald's than the molecule of gluten that might be left in the beef flavoring (the flavoring has been tested and gluten is below detectable levels). I ate McDonald's fries after reading The Gluten-Free Bible (before doing internet research... gosh this is a learning process!!). I definitely got glutened. I doubt it...
  7. If anyone can help, that would be great!! My sister is getting married to her live in boyfriend in a very casual picnic at the park setting on July 1st. I just found out today. She and my mom are gluten-free. I'm Gluten-free Casein-free. She's asked me to make the cake, and of course I'm honored. She wants a traditional shaped white cake (probably...
  8. apologies if anyone has already posted this: The Absence of a Mucosal Lesion on Standard Histological Examination Does Not Exclude Diagnosis of Celiac Disease. Dig Dis Sci. 2007 May 9; Mohamed BM, Feighery C, Coates C, O'shea U, Delaney D, O'briain S, Kelly J, Abuzakouk M Some patients with undiagnosed celiac disease have minor mucosal...
  9. Hi Wooly, I know how you feel... I'm casein free as well as gluten-free starting just this past Tuesday. I feel like I can't eat ANYTHING and it's hard to get used to it. BUT!!!! I have had some surprising good health events after going off casein. My skin is clearing up. I have had two strong courses of accutane in my adulthood, neither...
  10. Found this article that had an interesting snippet about DQ7 (most of the article was about DQ2). It's almost ten years old, though. Discrimination between Celiac and Other Gastrointestinal Disorders in Childhood by Rapid Human Lymphocyte Antigen Typing Clinical Chemistry 44: 1755-1757, 1998; "Eight of the 122 celiac disease patients lacked both...
  11. I have just pulled a batch of Roben's snickerdoodles out of the oven for a group of friends. (Three "regular" folks, two gluten-free and one Gluten-free Casein-free-me). Fabulous, fabulous, fabulous. I wish there were a way to make them calorie free. :-P I followed the recipe exactly, using a stand mixer and stoneware cookie sheets. I did omit the...
  12. Is this a common reaction from doctors? I drove my granny to a doctor appointment today (which was about a wrist injury). He was a family doctor. She mentioned to him that I had celiac and he said it was almost impossible that granny has it because he's never diagnosed a celiac in their 30's let alone in their 60's. He said it was a child-teenager range...
  13. Hi all, I'm curious who else has my same genotype and what their symptoms are (were). I just got my enterolab results today. I haven't pursued the traditional diagnosis. My symptoms: sometimes D, sometimes C mouth sores depression anxiety fatigue bloating belching flatulence I've also had my gallbladder out 4 years ago... anyone else...
  14. Hi Everyone! I'm having a great response to my gluten-free diet and of course my Enterolab results concur. I put the results in my signature. I hadn't expected the casein intolerance, so as of today I'm casein-free as well. I don't feel 100% well yet, but I feel much better than before I started this journey. Maybe I'll improve faster without the...
  15. I hope I'm not the only one to make a mistake like this... For the past 13 days I've been so careful with gluten-free and I've definitely seen an improvement in symptoms. I'm still waiting on my Enterolab results to confirm. Today my husband and daughter and I ate at PF Changs and we all ordered off the gluten free menu so that we could share everything...
  16. I just served this recipe hot to my family straight out of the oven (with butter, of course!) and it was fabulous!!!! EDIT: I subbed three whole eggs for the two eggs and two whites. It even smells like wheat bread while it is baking, and that's a treat. I hope there's no such thing as a psychological glutening...
  17. This is one of the first surveys I took before deciding to investigate gluten as my problem. I'm so glad it's there!
  18. I am seeking a diagnosis and I also had to have my gallbladder out. Mine came out about 4 years ago. That's only anecdotal, of course... I have nothing other than my gut feeling (pardon the pun) to believe that they are connected. I was having very clear celiac symptoms when they found my gallbladder polyp. I think I let them take my gallbladder out...
  19. Huh. I also had sores on my woo-woo (sorry TMI, too!) a few years back. They definitely weren't STD because they tested me for everything and they weren't yeast, either. It resolved on its own. I wonder if it was related. I have a very itchy scalp with no flakes. I also have been through really bad acne (2 courses of Accutane to clear it up) which...
  20. Thanks for the responses! As for cosmetics... I'm a soap & water girl. Hardly ever wear make-up although I'll read the labels well before any special occasions that require it. I also don't use lotions or bath products or anything like that. But if I get a hankering to smell like Bath & Body Works, I'll check first! My DD feeds the...
  21. Hi everyone! I have landed on celiac as a strong possibility for my myriad "mysterious" symptoms for the past eight years. I'm surprised I hadn't heard of it before this year. I'm waiting on my results from enterolab - I did the full gluten panel plus casein and genes. I ate "normally" until the moment I deposited my specimens and I went gluten free...
