  1. Just wanted to update this to say that it is now available for for online viewing.
  2. This is a new presentation. It includes discussion on gluten intolerance and wheat allergy as well. I only caught the last 45 minutes or so, but plan to record and watch it this weekend. The part that I caught seems to be better than the first presentation I posted back in Feb. It is not yet available for online viewing so you need the channel to see...
  3. I was officially diagnosed with Myoclonus a few years ago ('04 or '05 I think). I don't have an official celiac diagnosis, but tested positive for gluten intolerance with Enterolab and elimination diet (in '07). The treatment plan the neurologist wanted to take made me really apprehensive (several horse pills a day) so I didn't go along with it, and just...
  4. If indeed the smoking is causing it, it can take a while before it is completely out your system, and the side effect goes away. Medications could possibly be the culprit as well. The asthma inhaler albuterol would give me the same head twitch only it would jerk to the left side. It would also give me shaky hands, roaming muscle spasms, and nightmares...
  5. I lost about 20lbs in about 2 months. It ended up being about 15% of my body weight. I started at about 156 (was as high as 163 at times) and ended up at 135 stable. I hadn't been at that weight since college. Before going gluten free I couldn't lose weight, and I was running and weight training 4 days a week! I wasn't really exercising much during...
  6. Hey I knew about Sickle Cell and Italian ethnic subgroups. I don't know that blacks are dismissing it as a "white" only disease. I know I certainly didn't when I learned of it. However there is still a lot of language out there that can lead one to that implication. And that implication can have an affect on not only the black community, but *doctors...
  7. I agree with you. I am black and my GI looked at me like I was crazy when I suggested celiac. Most American blacks know nothing of celiac disease. I believe my sister and cousin are symptomatic, but neither take it seriously. I am pretty sure my uncle had it as well, and that it played a hand in his early death. Bravie & gfp I don't think the...
  8. Yes, I had issues with my gums and teeth, but it was not from gingivitis in my case. For me it was acid reflux. I didn't even know it was acid reflux until my doctor figured it out. I would wake up sometimes and my nose would burn like crazy, like it was extremely dried out. Never any pain in my throat. Sometimes I would wake up coughing from aspirating...
  9. I recorded this earlier this week. It was a pretty good show. They had a nutritionist, a research MD, and a GI. They covered a wide variety of information. hmm.... I found a link to it online. Check it out here: Open Original Shared Link
  10. Nope you're not the only one. I used to get bad hunger pains followed by the shakes and irritability, followed by headache or migraine. That was if i didn't eat every 2-3 hours or so. I can now go 4-6 hours between meals, and I don't ever get that severe hunger I used to have. I don't miss it!
  11. Some ginger tea might help as well. I used that with some success.
  12. For the interim flare ups after I got off the PPIs I took good old Pepto Bismol. Before that I was trying TUMS! That just made the reflux worse, and gave me a nasty stomach ache, nausea, and a migraine to boot.
  13. I am now off all PPI's. I was taking Prilosec daily, but it stopped working, and I was then put on Nexium daily and that worked. When I went gluten free back in April, I also went casein and soy free as well, following the Enterolab results. Now that I think back my GERD would *really* act up when I ate chinese (with lots of soy sauce). I have since been...
  14. Ignorance is bliss. I don't necessarily understand it either. You know you are just around the corner from me. Have you ever participated in any of the Harrisburg GIG meetings? I have never attended one, but was wondering how they were.
  15. I could not agree more! My take is I am not looking for a doctor to lead me to good health. I am looking for one to help me make informed decisions. If the doctor is not informed, how the heck are they going to help me?
  16. No, but I am not surprised. I know it can cause heartburn!
  17. Thank you Gentleheart. I needed to get it all out, but didn't want people to go OMG I don't want to read all that! I just hoped I struck a good balance. I also wanted to explain the why's and how's Enterolabs testing was useful to me.
  18. Me too! Thanks so much for the welcome!
  19. I am just a lay person, but I read that completely different! 23% chance of false negative with total villous atrophy and 67% chance of false negative with partial villous atrophy. Am I interpreting that wrong?
  20. Since a lot of folks have questions about them, I figured my first post would by why I went with them. I started having major diarrhea with alternating constipation in my mid 20's. Docs diagnosed me with IBS and lactose intolerance and sent me home. That diagnosis stuck. I was told to eat more fiber and take a fiber supplement. Of course most of...
