Ocd making gluten fears unmanageable. Need advice
Dora77 replied to Dora77's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
What really bothers me is if worrying about getting cc‘d from touching the same door knob as others touched is valid. Seems like an extremely unlikely way to get glutened but i read people saying that. If thats true then theres realistically zero chance i dont get cc‘d in a non gluten-free household unless i Cook Everything myself and wash my han...- 8 replies

Sorry for the long post. I’m 18, and I was diagnosed with celiac disease and type 1 diabetes (T1D). My transglutaminase IgA was >128 U/mL, EMA IgA positive twice, and I’m HLA-DQ2 and DQ8 positive. I’ve been completely asymptomatic since diagnosis, even when I cheated with gluten sometimes in the past and used to eat out(2-5 years ago) I don’t get...

Hi everyone, I have celiac disease and I’m asymptomatic, which makes things more stressful because I don’t know when I’ve been glutened. That’s why I try to be really careful with cross-contamination. For almost a year, I’ve been having yellow/orange floating stools consistently. I’m not sure if it’s related to gluten exposure or something else going on...

There were small spots (stains) on the drinking area at the top of the energy drinks can from the store that looked as the same color as milk — maybe oat milk (Hafermilch) or a wheat-based drink (Weizendrink), but I’m not sure what it was. There were also some particles that looked like either flour or dust, but not many. Could it have been a gluten-containing dri...

I’m an asymptomatic celiac— I didn't show much symptoms even when I was eating gluten (prior to diagnosis), but I’m still worried about malabsorption if I’m exposed to gluten. My mom made gluten‑free dough on the kitchen table and then later worked with gluten dough on the same table. When she was forming the gluten‑free dough into a wrap (before cooking it ...

For some context: I have type 1 diabetes (T1D) (since 11 years) and celiac disease(since 4 years) For about a year now, I’ve been experiencing permanent floating and undigested stools. I’ve had a pancreas elastase test done. The first result was extremely low at 44, but a second test came back at 236. My doctor said that since one result is normal, it...

Hey, the pan is scrubbed with soap and water, and after that wiped with vinegar oil. Is that ok or should I consider switching pans and only cooking glutenfree there? The oven is wiped with vinegar oil. Is this enough? Also different celiacs have different symtpoms and reactions, does this also mean that maybe some celiacs only react at lets say...

When cooking pizza, first a regular (gluten-containing) pizza is baked in the oven. Before the gluten-free pizza goes in, the oven is wiped down with a cloth soaked in vinegar oil. Is this method safe for avoiding cross-contamination? Similarly, if gluten-containing bread is heated in a pan, and before gluten-free food is cooked, the pan is wiped with...

I am an asymptomatic celiac, so even if I eat gluten I feel no pain. But since 6 months I have stools which are very similar to malabsorption stools. Which could mean my small intestine is damaged which would lead to my body not being able to absorb nutrients. I live in a gluten household but we look out for not like dipping gluten bread in butter...

Am I overexaggerating or is it normal?

Theres a bakery, but its a big supermarket so the bakery is avoidable. It just scares me to think theres flour in the air while I work as a cashier, but then again this would mean everytime I go buy grocery from a store I get glutened. (which isnt the case I believe as not all celiacs wear masks while purchasing grocery). Do you think flour spreading... -

@trents hey i got one other question regarding the cashier job, do you think there could be air floating around where I am? Its a big supermarket, I will only work once per week in the weekends. Could there be some airborn flour from people who bought flour? -

I also read about this on the internet. Would it be harmful to take pancreatic enzyme capsules without diagnosis? I will tell my doctor about it. -

I read somewhere that dairy can cause symptoms with celiacs, but won't damage them. So is it really needed to do a elimination diet? Last time I checked my vitamin D levels were 30 ng/ml. I take 10000iu vitamin d3 softgels daily. I plan to switch to liquid. Should I take more? -

Do you think the pepper will most likely choose cc or maybe the gluten in there is so little that it wont do much? I was dignosed with a blood test when I was 14. I have celiac since 3 years. If I do the job it would be just as a cashier, nothing else. I scan products, including flour packages, and then handle the cash. I also think it could be... -

You think the cashier job is safe? I don’t really know, at home we always cook glutenfree, only sometimes premade gluten pizza in the oven. Gluten bread we buy from the grocery store. Like when we cook noodles we cook them in separate pot, no gluten bread in butter or peanut butter. Do you think pepper is safe even though it says c... -
Hey, I am 17m. I have diabetes, celiac and fluctuating low t4 levels (but normal tsh). This sommer I did a summer job at a fast food restaurant which serves breaded pork/chicken. My glutenfree diet and mindset changed dramastically after this job. Almost everywhere is flour, even in the salad. They used the same handshoes for making salad which they just...
