Brother,
From what source do the opiate peptides arrive? Wheat?
Mentally I have long been subject to depression and angst. The basic turnaround time for me post-poisoning is about one month for major symptoms and four months for intestinal renewal (reviseration - my term). I keep hoping lately to make it to four months as I keep getting re-exposed. I get pretty manic at times (and love it) when I get beyond the fatigue induced depresson. I can't address your larger question as to how long for a mental turn-around.
I have experienced a syndrome I call mis-fires when I get these flashes of extremely violent images. They have gone away largely after one month clean. We can't be sure but it is possible your mental woes are not YOU! Rather, the integration of inappropriate proteins in the brain jacks with your head.
Best of Luck, Keep the faith.

Hi All,
When people ask me what are the symptoms of Celiac I say, "All of them." And certainly this is borne out by the notations in this string. I have two to add: 1) tounge swelling and mouth soreness (spicy food BURNS!, shot of Rum INCINERATES!) and 2) Eye infections (itching, swelling, white pus stings). Is there a comprehensive list of symptoms somewhere on this site?

Belinda,
My best hopes for your brother and his most challenging condition. The MS connection is only at best an insightful layman's theory and has only a few medical studies to suggest a causal link. There is a study which indicated a correlation of leaky gut syndrome to MS. Celiac wreaks havoc on the gut causing bleeding, inflammation and leaky gut. Here's the deeper concept. In all auto-immune disease the body attacks and strips away proteins - the myelin sheth in the nerves of MS sufferers. Perhaps these (in my guess) inappropriate plant proteins from wheat are not actually appropriate for the body - like putting leaded gas in an unleaded car.
History suggests that wheat proteins have only been consumed for only the last 4000 years having been developed in Mesopotamia then Egypt as slave food. 4000 years (1500 in N. Europe) is but one 500th of the time in which recognisable humans have hunted and gathered food on the earth. We were raised on meat and ready vegetables (which don't need cooking.) Grass seeds must be cropped and cooked to be made edible termed the Neolythic era. Corn, beans and potatoes are New World foods (from the americas) and little adaptation has occured to them as well. Anyways the thought is that these proteins mimic meat proteins and are used by the body but poorly. We celiacs have the sensitivity and recognise them in the gut and nearly ruin ourselves to get it out. In other people the "bad" proteins reach other places in the body and are stripped out by our immune systems. I can't think of other auto-immune diseases but this theory explains alot.

David,
I noticed u mentioned MS?
Could u explain why .......We have a Celiac Sprue 17 year old son, hubby,I,and 2 other son's which all show signs
But the reason I ask about MS his brother (hubby's) was DXD about 10 years ago and us having celiac disease could this be his reason too?
My mother-in-law and mostly all of his side kinda think I'm nuts when I say they r culprits too, and in September I will be able to say well I told ya so
(Hubby's gene testing)
Hubby quit smoking about 6 years ago when this awful D showed it true colors, he always has the DH just was told it was exzema lol
I too have the DH and the boys
Thanks for the info u can supply !

I have greatly diminshed the fog, fear and depression since largely gluten-free. When I get poisoned it all comes back. I also used to have what I term mis-fires which I get these paranoid, often violent thoughts while thinking about otherwise benign situations or talking calmly with even a sweet person. I thought I was possesed by the devil but it was just bad protein.

Mike and Everyone,
I am new to this disease and this website. I must say to mike I share most of your symptoms and then a few. One that I get that I haven't heard yet is what seems to be an opportunistic eye infection that I get a few days after I get poisoned. I get serious itching and white gooey stuff then swelling. I have tracked the weirdness of this disease pretty well as I live somewhat in isolation. No restraurants or family to throw off my observations.
As reflected in my name I take a fairly radical postion to this so-called disease. I suspect that this sensitivity is actually an advantage - that our guts are sensitive enough to ward off an inappropriate protein at the immediate level. In others the grass proteins go more into the body and are later stripped out by a variety of seemingly auto-immune functions. Multiple sclerosis in the myelin sheaths and a host of others.
I entertain a number of radical perspectives perhaps out of self-preservation, perhaps wrongly, but I am on the fringe of most ideas. That my notions are taken seriously or purported to be true is not important, but I hope to bring some new concepts and possibilities to the table.
Among the perspectives of note:
- Doctors are inDoctrinated by the pharmalogical biz and treat symptoms only.
- Health insurance is thus the leading cause of death.
- Celiacs are "canaries in the coal mine" and are sensitive to a larger problem.
- Testing reflects only the "gut" reaction and the poisen of grass proteins reflects in other people elsewhere in a vast array of symptoms and illness.
Anyways, thanks for the oppotunity to not feel alone. I am self-diagnosed and won't go under the knife and anethesia to prove what I know. I am thus shunned from the local support groups oddly.

Hey,
A shill is specifically, I believe, a person who fakes an illness and pretends to be cured to support the sale of patent medicines. Like, Michael Jackson in that insipid Paul McCartney music video of old, or like the current posing of actors on drug company ads on TV.
