  1. I emailed Bob's Red Mill about the recall. Here was the response. "On Tuesday, September 10, 2013, the Canadian Food Inspection Agency reported that a random test of Bob's Red Mill Sweet White Sorghum Flour (623 g / Lot 150772 / Sell By: 11/07/2014 / UPC: 0 33978 30642 5) was found to contain 32 parts per million of undeclared gluten. The product was...
  2. I've read on glutenfreedrugs.com that the generics for Singulair do not contain gluten, but that the manufacturers do not test for its presence. Has anyone encountered any problems taking a generic form of Singulair? I'm mostly interested in Aurobindo (5mg) and Teva (10mg) as those are the brands my pharmacy uses.
  3. Thanks for the suggestions. I appreciate the help!
  4. I recently learned that the 3 oz. containers of Kraft Mac&Cheese cheese topping (yes - the powdery orange stuff) has been discontinued. It was my quick go-to product to make mac&cheese in the morning for school lunches. Does anyone know of a similar product? I've contacted Kraft asking them to reconsider, but I'm not expecting much.
  5. I found some information on glutenfreewatchdog.org that you may be interested in. The tortillas mentioned were tested and there was a product alert. Open Original Shared Link
  6. Just wanted to point out that there is some interesting info in the recent newsletter on glutenfreedietitian.com. Tricia posts some findings from Gluten Free Watchdog.
  7. I saw on this site (https://www.celiac.com/articles/22275/1/Contamination-of-Naturally-Gluten-Free-Grains/Page1.html) and recently attended a celiac conference where this study of contamination in naturally gluten free grains was referenced. This got me thinking about the products I use, specifically Riceland rice. According to a recent visit to Riceland...
  8. I called Mars a few days ago and asked if the pretzel M&Ms were made on the same equipment as all of the other M&Ms. The answer was yes. She said that the equipment is broken down, cleaned, and sanitized after runs. That being said, there is always the chance of cc. Needless to say, I am extremely disappointed in Mars at the moment.
  9. We use Kahn's hot dogs.
  10. Just an fyi - when I checked shortly before Halloween, Nerds and a few other Wonka candies were no longer on the gluten free list. Based on the ingredients, I'm not sure why since they look ok. I did see some bags that had a made in same facility as wheat statement, but other bags didn't. Maybe that's why?
  11. All great ideas! Thanks everyone for your responses. I appreciate the help.
  12. I appreciate the comments, and I know I may come off as sounding like a mom in denial, but I do not believe that he's taking treats from friends and cheating on his diet. He wants his tests to come back negative as much as anyone. Although good ideas, he has no interest in Playdoh, and he was using the same toothpaste (same ingredients) as when he tested...
  13. Thanks for all the responses and suggestions. Our house went gluten free in April 2007 when my son (who is now 10) was diagnosed. He's had repeated bloodwork every 6 months or so, and sometimes even after only 3 months. He was finally negative for the first and only time in March 2009. We have a spreadsheet with all the foods that he eats and after some...
  14. My son's ttg was elevated at his last check-up. His doctor suspects he is getting gluten from somewhere. I keep a diary of everything he eats, and am desperately trying to figure out where the gluten is coming from. I'm convinced it's a cross-contamination issue. After looking at what he ate a lot of in the month prior to his test, I noticed he was on...
  15. Just wanted to say that I got a different response by e-mail from General Mills on 7/17/09 when asking about cc. Here it is. "General Mills offers several products that are labeled gluten-free. Please check the package label for the gluten-free statement on the front/side/back of the package. Only products that can be verified to be gluten free will be...
  16. I apologize Gemini if I have somehow offended you. I wasn
  17. I'll share my son's experience. He was diagnosed in April 2007 with Celiac at 8 yrs old. His major symptom was falling off the growth chart. He also had stomach aches, but nothing that would keep him from his activities. His initial EMA results were 1:20,480 and was confirmed Celiac by a biopsy. Over a year, his EMA numbers came down and he grew back...
  18. I went online to order some products this past weekend, and noticed that the FAQ stating that everyday minerals products were gluten free was no longer there. I e-mailed the company and thought I would share the response. Original Question: "I used to see a question in the FAQ that said that Everyday Minerals products were gluten free. I don't see this...
  19. Thanks for the suggestions. I've been calling companies and rechecking everything. Sometimes it's so hard to get a straight answer out of anyone. I don't think it should be so difficult to say if a product is produced on dedicated lines or a dedicated facility, but that's just me. Also, there's really not much if any arts and crafts projects in his room...
  20. I've posted before about my 9yr old who has been on a gluten free diet since April 2007. His EMA (IgG + IgA) results started out at 1:20480. In May 2008, he was down to 1:160 but the doctor suspected he was still getting some gluten since it had been over a year. The dietitian said to continue as is and that he probably would take longer to heal. We just...
  21. I also got the "need a doctor's note" response when I called a few weeks ago regarding Pantene products. So, no more P&G products for me!
  22. Thanks! I'll look into Burts Bees and Garnier.
  23. Does anyone know if Pantene's Pro V total control gel is gluten free? Nothing stood out on the label. I called the company and they said they would label wheat and wheat extract. I couldn't get them to say that barley, rye, and oats are also clearly labeled. She even said that if I wanted to know if one of these was contained in the fragrance that I would...
  24. I live in Hilliard and frequently check out the Gluten Free Gang's website: www.glutenfreegang.org It has links to the local resources mentioned earlier, Raisin Rack, etc.
