  1. Well thank you for thinking of me :-) Haven't heard of vasculits but to be honest when I read the description of every ailment & disease out there I think I have it, so if I have to throw yet one more condition into my encyclopedia neurotica I'm probably gonna but a gun in my mouth. The reality is I will never truly know if I have celiac disease unless...
  2. Just to refresh your memories...Ive been on a gluten-free diet for almost two years, but not 100% strict....meaning I wont tell wait staff I have a gluten allergy and will just order things on the menu that I know are safe based on research and contacting kitchen managers via phone or email in advance. Anyway, 3 weeks ago I decided that I want to be even...
  3. Never occurred to me that some of my symptoms could be caused by mercury in my fillings but I just had an idea. A few years ago I remember suddenly developing pressure headaches after eating certain foods and would also experience a dazed/lethargic kinda sensation. It seemed to bother me the most with acidic foods and fermented foods but I then noticed...

  6. Going to Charleston and am looking for safe places to eat...not chains but some of the popular local restaurants. Any suggestions?
  7. I actually think it happened differently...I think the infection (Giardia) caused lactose intolerance and gastritis, which is a common complication of Giardia ,and then my system broke down..consequently causing leaky guy, food sensitivities and possibly celiac since i have the genetic predisposition...but that's just my theory and i could be wrong
  8. The first stomach issue I had after I contracted a parasitic infection was severe lactose intolerance...and I mean severe! At that time my celiac bloodwork was negative but I always wonder if LI is implicated in celiac disease since lactase enzymes are produced on the villi. Can LI be a diagnostic marker?
  9. Unfortunately I am forced to eat out a lot - i work in sales and am on the road quite a bit. When I'm on my own I do fine and usually hit Whole Foods or PF Changs or somethin like that. But traveling with colleagues is what gets me everytime. They all know i'm picky w/ food and have dairy issues , but I never told them bout the gluten thing. Also I always...
  10. No when I had the stool test done I was still on my regular gluten diet and as far as the depression/anxiety..Ive had that all my life...way before I developed stomach issues. I'm just prone to anxiety & depression. I also forgot to mention that I had the celiac blood panel performed back in 2002, but that was right after I got hit with all my digestive...
  11. Ive posted here various times and you all probly think i'm nuts, and you might be right, but Ive reached a point where I am just clueless about what I should do. I have been off gluten for almost 2 yrs and never had a celiac test cause I am stubborn and dont want to have the diagnosis. I had a slight positive on a stool anti-gliadin assay and I have...
  12. Hello- I travel a lot and Whole Foods has been my salvation while on the road. I always go there since I get quality food and know exactly what all the ingredients are. Has anyone had negative experiences with their gluten-free hot bar/pre-cooked food? I assume all the stuff they cook that does not list wheat on the labels is gluten free. i know they...
  13. is it possible to experience Steatorrhea if you are non-celiac gluten intolerant or is that specifically a symptom of celiac?
  14. I am American - Its an insecurity not a language problem
  15. Why do I have such difficulty telling a waiter or waitress at a restaurant that I have a gluten allergy? There are times when i sit down at a restaurant and I have every intention of saying it but then when the waiter comes I back out and just assume my dish will be gluten-free (most times I call the restaurant in advance anyway or pick a place i am familiar...
  16. Is this something common to celiac or can gluten intolerance cause the same problem? Also I dont get diarrhea (Steatorrhea) but it does have the foul odor
  17. My company is having its global sales meeting in Cannes, France in October. I am terrified that I will be unable to eat anything and i'm either gonna starve & loose weight or get sick from eating the wrong things. I cant find any info on gluten free dining and am not sure what to do Honestly, as much as id love to see france im thinking of not going...

  19. Do most people get the fatty, foul smelling diarrhea after getting a dose of the big G? Every once and a while my stools will smell really foul and float, but im not sure if its related to gluten. I think I accidentally ate some gluten last week and was fine for several days but today i had the symptoms i just described. i also took some probiotics...

  21. If someone who is Celiac (and on a strict gluten-free diet) accidentally ingests gluten every once and a while is there a chance they can still develop cancer or severe complications as opposed to someone who is undiagnosed and consumes it for 30-40yrs? I am very strict w/ my gluten-free diet but occasionally something will slip thru the cracks..its inevitable...
  22. Ive heard a few people mention that pepcid ac helps with a variety of symptoms - is that really true? can it help with constipation? seems like if you're inhibiting acid then you are further compromising your digestion
  23. I am going to an oral pathologist next week because i think i have lichen planus. 2 weeks ago i had a bad stinging pain which i thought was just a canker sore, but it later turned into a much larger inflammation and it hasnt gotten better, even though the pain has subsided. If i am diagnosed with this now i have to worry about developing oral cancer because...
