  3. I live in Decatur, GA and there is a huge farmers market that i frequently visit. They carry a bunch of non-gluten grains & flours that are prepackaged. I spoke to a store manager and she said everything arrives in big boxes and they are then transfered to small containers for sale. They use scooper's and she said they wipe them off with a paper towel...
  4. true, something causes IBS but once you have it you always have it -- even if the cause has been eliminated. its kinda like an old injury that will act up if its irritated. its more a sensitivity issue
  5. haha- I wouldn't go as far as to call the FDA corrupt..I do quite a bit of work with them (especially the food safety people) Is hemp milk ok for folks with sensitive stomachs/IBS?
  6. So i had a very detailed conversation with a customer service rep at Rice Dream. Evidently all of their "gluten-free" products are tested for gluten using a new highly sensitive method. If anything comes up positive it is rejected; they are very strict about this and are under the ever watchful eye of the FDA. I was also told that this product is safe...
  7. Thanks Laurie- do you have celiac or gluten intolerance? Seems like the folks who are celiac tend to get the horrible diarrhea and migraines more often than not
  8. I suppose - everything else I consume is free of gluten and when i travel i do the best I can, but nothing is guaranteed. fortunately or unfortunately I dont get violently ill from consuming gluten like a lot of folks on here, so I never really know whats going on and what causes what.
  9. I just found out yesterday that Rice Dream rice milk contains gluten and I have been consuming it like water for the past year and a half while I was supposed to be Gluten-Free. I made such a strong effort to change my lifestyle and for what? i just wasted an entire year and further jeopardized my health and well being because the aholes at Rice Dream can...

  14. This is unbelievable! Now i have to go for blood workup to make sure im not gonna drop dead. Aside from pacific rice milk, what other brands are safe? Pacific has caraggennan in it which i like to avoid.
  15. I CANNOT believe this! Are you kidding me? After 1 year of hell trying to avoid gluten I have been consuming it anyway? WTF? OMG...I'm having a serious anxiety attack now
  16. I just got this on the website and there is no mention anymore of using Barley enzymes on the product or on the website Legally speaking the product must be 100% free of gluten in order for them to make this claim The following products do not contain gluten: Rice Dream Shelf Stable Non-Dairy Beverages * All varieties Rice Dream Refrigerated...
  17. I am very concerned..I have been using Rice Dream milk for years and did not discontinue after I went gluten-free. Now I'm reading that its not safe. It says Gluten free on it and the store where i buy it says its gluten free. Whats the deal here? I would HATE to think that I have been consuming gluten for the past year when i worked so hard to change...
  18. anyone know if there will ever be a push for Chinese/Asian style restaurants to use wheat free soy sauce only? Its a shame that one little ingredient is ruining this cuisine for all of us Also its seems like sporting events do not cater to people with allergies/intolerances. Will this ever change? will we ever be able to go to a sporting event and get...
  19. It wont be fun for me If I go cause I'll be the odd person and I will be looking at all the great food I cant eat so I wont be able to enjoy myself
  20. Some of my friends are having Thanksgiving and invited me to join...gonna be a group of 16 people. I wont be able to eat anything there and its not like I can tell them which ingredients to use cause the world doesnt revolve around me. So I'm staying home and eating plain chicken, steamed rice and green beans...the same exact friggin meal I eat every damn...
  21. i've posted on this several times, so I apologize for sounding like a broken record. Ive been working in sales for the past 7 months and really love my job. The problem is whenever I'm on the road or with colleagues/clients I have very little say on where and what I eat. I have multiple food allergies and really need to be on a simple diet, but its impossible...
  22. I tested severely allergic to eggs (whites and yolks) on my blood IgE allergy test, however, whenever I eat eggs I feel fine and never experience any symptoms. is it ok for me to occasionally eat eggs or food with eggs as an ingredient? I used to eat them every single day but since getting all my tests I cut them out in addition to soy, dairy and gluten...
  23. Thats rough sorry to hear. Fortunately or unfortunately I don't get sick like that if I eat gluten. I was eating gluten lite for a few months on and off and never had problems...so thats why its easier for me to stray from a strict diet. Thats why I almost wish i had a completely accurate diagnosis, but I dont want to do the challenge for 3 months &...
  24. just out of curiosity what are your symptoms when you eat gluten - even small amounts?
  25. Well I only have one celiac gene and the only test i had was a stool antigliadin, which was slightly elevated. I had the blood test in 02 and it was negative...so i dont think its accurate to say I have celiac. Bottom line no matter how careful i am when i eat out (or anyone for that matter) there is always gonna be some gluten somewhere...it just cant...
