  1. Thanks for the info- and yes i live for the drama sometimes ;-)
  2. i found out that the celiac gene i have is Dq8 - i read it is the rare gene and can also predispose you to other autoimmune diseases. Am i basically screwed no matter what? i could already have another autoimmune disease and not even know it - i cant handle this!
  3. oh great so having DQ8 predisposes you to other diseases as well? great..i'm screwed
  4. I am pos for DQ8 and neg for DQ2 - what does this mean exactly?
  5. How much? I'll send u a check Do u think the content & tone was ok? The people im writing to are stubborn & set in their ways - when i told my aunt theres a 50% chance i have celiac she said "so, theres a 50% chance u will die from something else"
  6. LOL- I wasn't really asking for a grammar/spell check since its a rough draft - i just wanted feedback on the content
  7. Can u guys be so kind as to give me your feedback on this letter? I want to encourage my family to get tested but the truth is they have no idea what I'm going thru or that i even have celiac. thanks SO much! Dear_____ & _____, Not sure if my mother mentioned this to you but I was recently diagnosed with Celiac Sprue. This diagnosis sheds...
  8. It was a mistake..ever make one? ;-) I never suspected the gum had gluten based on the ingredients and it just slipped my mind. I'm also not 100% positive i got a reaction from it since I dont really get symptoms when I eat gluten. Sometimes i get tingling in my legs but i dont know if thats a gluten reaction or something else..havent figured that out...
  9. Basically I spend so much time avoiding gluten and changing my life around & doing whatever is necessary, but obviously its inevitable...there is no way to live 100% gluten free unless you shut yourself off from the world and eat/prepare your own food all the time. All I want to do now is heal my gut so the other food sensitivities go away & fix...
  10. Yes it was an absolute nightmare & I aint risking it again, so im packing light and carrying on my luggage and some food for the flight. I'm going to ship some "safe" food to my hotel this week but if that gets held up in customs then im screwed, so i may even check a box of food on the plane as well, but that will probably get lost How do u know...
  11. its delta- last time i traveled abroad on delta they lost my bags both ways. i will have enough anxiety on this trip- i dont need to be on an 8 hr flight wondering if my bag is lost and its not just gluten i have to worry about- cant do any dairy either
  12. Thanks- I will have to ship because the layover between my two flights is very short so I am going to have to carry on my luggage, & space for food will be limited
  13. Hi- My trip to France is coming up in a few weeks and I've been having borderline panic attacks over where Im gonna eat and what I'm going to eat. My doctor put the fear of God in me and told me I must avoid gluten at all costs if im going to heal. I am also on a candida diet and have lost 5 lbs since i am not consuming any carbs or sugar. I am shipping...
  14. I usually chew Orbit & XyliChew - the ingredients dont reveal anything with gluten but are they still safe?
  15. i never had liver chemistry problems in the past but a recent test showed an elevated ALT of 52. everything else was peachy. Does this now mean im going to develop hepatitis? i know for a fact that i got glutened the week prior to the blood draw and am hoping it was either that, lab error or a variant. going for a retest in 2 weeks but im worried about...
  16. im going to france in a few weeks and am planning on playing it super safe, but u feel like its inevitable that im gonna get gluten in my body. are those gluten enzymes useful ? if i take them before meals that are supposed to be gluten-free, will they destroy any gluten cross contaminatiion? thx
  17. LOL- I guess not unbelievable!
  18. I recently had a fistula removed by a well known rectal surgeon who also does colonoscopies. I asked if he thinks i should have a colonoscopy since i have a family history of colon cancer & stomach problems and I also mentioned the celiac part and that I was concerned. He said, and I quote: "you're 35, i'd wait till you are 40; as for the celiac...
  19. Ive been using Zinc and L-Glutamine- the bottle says no wheat or gluten, but i wasnt sure if these supplements for safe
  20. Could take up to a month or 2 to really notice a change. Also keep in mind your body is going into defense mode since its so used to having gluten...your symptoms may actually get worse before they disappear. For now just eat foods that are easy to digest and take supplements that nourish the intestines such as glutamine & aloe
  21. Anyone know what I can safely send to France? For the most part I just wanted to send dried non perishables, but also wanted to send some canned salmon and vegetables. Would this be a problem? Would french customs open my box and take things out? Thanks Russ
  22. Ive already convinced my mother to get tested for celiac disease but have not even discussed with my aunt and cousin. My aunt is very stubborn and set in her ways and when i told her there is a 50% chance i may have celiac she said well theres a 50% chance something else will kill me. I dont anticipate it being easy but I feel like its important for all...
  23. where can u buy the oskri barS?
  24. ive complained on here repeatedly about my business trip to France and how im gonna handle the food situation. If you saw what I was doing to plan for the trip you would all think im nuts...im actually shipping a box of food to my hotel so I will always have backup food and am carefully & elaborately planning what type of food to bring for the long ass...
