ARCHIVED Still Not Sure Whats Goin On Inside
jasonD2 replied to jasonD2's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Thanks for the feedback. Fiber doesnt seem to help my C, in fact it makes it worse & causes a lot of bloat. But i'll try the metamucil again since its been a while. Just out of curiosity were you tested for Celiac or did you just respond positively to the diet? I too feel I am gluten intolerant even though I have one of the celiac genes, but I really... -

Since i went gluten-free i have noticed a change in my bowel habits. when i was eating gluten they were infrequent, very thin and smooth looking as opposed to bulky and fibrous (sorry for the graphic nature of my post). for the past year ive pretty much been going every day, but recently i started getting backed up again and when i do go i always have to... -
Can't the bad bacteria be eliminated with probiotics?

The way I see it there are two possibilities here: 1. The trauma on my digestive system yrs ago (being on antibiotics, being stressed and contracting giardia) breached the integrity of my intestines and caused leaky gut and multiple food allergies (including gluten), but NOT celiac or 2. the trauma actually triggered celiac diease, which then led...

Another problem....even if i order gluten free food at restaurants theres no guarantee that the food is 100% gluten-free. the ingredients can be gluten-free and it can be prepared gluten free but as long as the kitchen contains gluten there's bound to be traces of it in the food no matter how hard a chef trys to keep the dish gluten-free. its really a no...

The thing is I dont wanna potentially damage my stomach for 3 months and reverse all my hard work for the past year. regarding symptoms, I was severely constipated when i was on a regular gluten diet and once i went off i felt a better so thats incentive enough for me to remain gluten-free. i really dont wanna eat gluten for 3 months and be constipated...

When you slip what kind of problems do u experience? For me, I don't experience any real symptoms when i eat gluten which is why its so easy for me to not make a big deal out of it when im eating out. If anything I get a little gassy and constipated, but so many other ingredients cause that problem for me as well so its hard to differentiate. I feel like...

i've never been diagnosed celiac. All i know is I had a slightly permeable gut which prompted me to go for more testing. i had a stool anti-gliadin test from enterolab) which came back slightly elevated and a comprehensive digestive workup which showed colonic inflammation, bacterial overgrowth and sensitivity to eggs, soy, and dairy. it was actually negative...

After I eat i get tired and experience a light-headed feeling with some sinus pressure. Its usually worse with foods im sensitive to. It has nothing to do with gluten since I am gluten-free, but I do notice it the most after eating vinegar, citrus and fermented foods. Ive had this for 3 years already. the very first time i noticed it was when i ate yogurt...

I have multiple food intolerances and sensitivities and am really concerned about this affecting my life. for the past few years its been hell trying to adapt but i'm doing the best I can. ARCHIVED Question Bout Gluten Intolerance

Is it possible to not have celiacs but be gluten intolerant with elevated gliadin antibodies. in other words if you have elevated gliadin antibodies does that always mean celiacs or can it also be indicative of an intolerance? -
ARCHIVED Not Careful When I Travel W/ Colleagues
jasonD2 replied to jasonD2's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I have one of the genes but still not sure if i have celiac. There's a 50/50 chance but im still convinced its just an intolerance. my stool antibody was 21 with 10 being the cutoff for normal, so its only slightly elevated -

I am in sales and spend quite a bit of time on the road. Usually im by myself but on occasion I travel with my colleagues. when i'm on my own I have no problems sticking to my gluten-free diet but when im with my colleagues its a little difficult. My one colleague Tom already thinks im neurotic and crazy cause of the way I eat so as a result im self conscious... -

ARCHIVED Celiac Gene/intolerance ?
jasonD2 posted a topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Hi- Is it possible to have one of the 2 celiac genes and still just be gluten intolerant & not have celiacs? I had Giardia 5 yrs ago, which destroyed my insides and made me sensitive to a bunch of different foods, including gluten. I really dont wanna do a gluten challenge and just decided to avoid gluten since ive been doing better w/o it. Im... -

ARCHIVED Anyone Have Constipation Problems?
jasonD2 replied to jasonD2's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Cant do raw milk kefir- i have severe lactose and casein intolerances. the foods that constipate me the most are : 1. coconut milk 2. nuts 3. soy 4. dark turkey meat 5. chocolate 6. dates 7. berries but even w/o these foods i still have difficulty- i just cant win -
one thing that improved when i went gluten-free was my urge to go to the bathroom - now i typically go every morning. before it would be 3-4 days w/o a BM. thing is i'm still having difficulty even though ive cut out so many foods...seems like a lot of the foods i still eat trigger colon spasms. Even though i will go every day, my stools arent very bulky...

ARCHIVED Solved The Puzzle

For years i tried to figure out what caused all my digestive problems and now i know. I was on antibiotics for 4-5 months for a prostate infection and under an absolutely insane amount of stress from a bad relationship. After the relationship ended I went on a river kayak trip with my friend out in Oregon. 2 weeks later i became violently ill...well, turns... -

i was rafting this past weekend and fell out of the boat and accidentally swallowed a small amt of river water. I am really scared that I'm going to get giardia or another parasitic infection. i actually had giardia once and am pretty convinced thats what caused my gluten and dairy intlerances. I cannot imagine going thru it again and cant beging to think...
