  1. I have worked for a winery for years, and our winemaker has assured me that all of the wine that he has come in contact with is gluten-free. Champagne is normally produced in the U.S. by adding carbonation to produce the bubbles. There is not any additive that I know of that would contain gluten. Yeast is used to help ferment wine, but it is filtered out...
  2. I would not cancel the colonoscopy. There are other conditions that you might have that go along with Celiac. For example, I have microscopic colitis and that is diagnosed with a biopsy of your colon. The doctor could do both scopes at the same time. Good luck with your search for a good doctor and finding your diagnosis.
  3. Sorry to hear that you don't have the support from your husband. It is tough to go through this disease alone. The last time that I went to the doctor I insisted that my husband go in with me to discuss everything with the doctor. This seemed to help him understand. I have alot of joint pain and bone pain too, but my scans are not that bad. My doctor treats...
  4. Yvonne, I am very sorry to hear about the loss of your brother. It is always difficult to lose a loved one and makes everything else not seem important. Please take care of yourself and remember that this group does care.
  5. Hello, Welcome! This is a great support group. I have been on a gluten-free diet for approximately 20 months, and my symptons are much more severe now when I do ingest gluten. I start to feel nausea in 15 to 20 minutes and then the stomach pains begin. I can't vomit since I have had surgery for Gerd, so I just have dry heaves. I bloat until I...
  6. I also have mitral valve prolapse. This was not discovered until three years after the Celiac symptons started. I don't know of anyone in my family having this heart condition. I wonder if Celiac can affect the heart?

    ARCHIVED Wary...

I have to add my opinion about Dr. Fine to this discussion. If any of you have read any of my previous posts, you know that I was also very skeptical of Dr. Fine and EnteroLab, until I was referred to Baylor Medical Center for a consultation with a GI specializing in chronic diarreha. My GI in Little Rock considered Dr. Schiller at the Fordtran GI center...
  8. The most difficult thing for me the last three years has been coping with missing work. I posted last week about some things that I was going through at work, and that I was going to resign. I have decided to keep trying, even though, I am not receiving support from my boss or some of my co-workers. You just have to do the best you can, and don't give up...
  9. I was diagnosed by EnteroLab for gluten sensitivity March 2004, and then diagnosed by GI for Celiac January 2005.
  10. Thanks Jen, I didn't think about checking their website!
  11. Does anyone know if Celestial Seasonings green tea (antioxidant supplement) is gluten-free? I can't find anything on the box. It does contain natural flavors, but I don't see barley malt in the ingredients. I picked up this package by accident, I meant to get the original green tea. Thanks!
  12. I have decided to wait before I submit my resignation. I was lucky today that I had time to think at work. My boss is going to be out of town for a few days and the nephew that made the comments was being very nice today. He didn't even mention our conversation from last Friday. I do have a very stressful job, but I like my work. I wear alot of different...
  13. Yes, I also have the same symptons when I eat any dairy as I do with gluten. I didn't realize that you could have an intolerance to casein, until I tested with EnteroLab. I always thought that it was lactose. I have also noticed that I have started having a problem with soy. I have been gluten-free since March 2004, and like so many others, I am extremely...
  14. Thank you all for your responses. You don't how much the support means to me. I am sitting here at work trying to make a decision. I have the letter ready, but I just don't know what to do. My position is CFO and I only report to the CEO who is also the majority shareholder, so there is no one else for me to go to. I make decisions everyday, but this one...
  15. I guess this is one of those venting sessions. I have a verbally abusive CEO that still doesn't understand Celiac disease and why I have been off of work. This is a long story, but it comes down to the fact that they just don't understand and don't care. I work for a family corporation and I report directly to the CEO and have 50 to 60 employees under me...
  16. I would love to have the following: (1) Pizza from Alligator Ray's! (2) Fried chicken (3) Chocolate Fudge cheescake and Cherry Black Forest Cake
  17. Mine was removed when I was 16. The doctor also said that I had cysts on my ovaries and that part of one was removed. Years later a doctor told me that my ovary had never had surgery on it. I still have the same pain now, after eating gluten, that I had all of those years ago. I was diagnosed with Celiac 38 years later!
  18. You need to be tested for Celiac with those list of symptoms. They are classic celiac disease symptons and the doctor should be more than happy to test you. Just remember that the doctor is working for you! I know how you feel about asking for certain tests. I was the same way. I was intimidated by doctors, but now if one doesn't want to listen, I will find...
  19. Yes, I can to relate to having the pills stashed everyplace. I found out the Gas-X contained gluten, after every doctor that I went to telling me to take those things. Mustang-Has the doctor checked you for colitis? I passed alot of mucous before going on the gluten-free diet, but also had chronic diarreha that didn't go away. I found out that I had microscopic...
  20. Yes, I have had eye inflammation several times. The doctor never gave a reason for the inflammation just treated it and told me not to read for a few days and wear dark glasses. I haven't had a problem since going gluten-free, but the last time I had my eyes examined I was told that I had a torn retina and was developing cataracts. I never thought about...
  21. I agree with you too! There are days that I don't think that I can stand this any longer. I started having problems about three years ago , and at my age it has been hard for me to adjust. I try to stay completely gluten-free, but I still seem to have problems when eating away from home. I can't sit in business meetings anymore without worrying about stomach...
  22. I am so happy to hear your news!
  23. Ryan, Have you received the results of your children's tests? I spent three years trying to determine what was wrong with me. I went through two surgeries and visited several doctors, including three GI doctors, but none of the doctors could do anything for me. I was diagonosed with Gerd, gallstones, severe anemia, IBS, Fibromyalgia, ulcers, migraines...
  24. I guess that I will add my comments to this rather strange discussion. I became completely obsessed with my poop, after trying to find out what was wrong with me, and answering the questions on the forms of the many doctors that I visited. I have gone through various color changes, but mostly diarrhea, several times a day. I also passed large amounts of mucous...
