ARCHIVED How Sensitive Are You To Gluten?
bmorrow replied to a topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I seem to have become more sensitive since being on the gluten-free diet. I bloat and my stomach starts hurting within 15 minutes after I consume gluten. The severe symptons last for approximately six hours and then I have diarrhea for several days. Most of the time this happens after eating in a restaurant. Sometimes I also have a problem with vodka. I... -

ARCHIVED Aching Bones
bmorrow replied to swittenauer's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I have severe bone and joint pain. I have been tested for lupus and arthritis, but the results were negative. I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia approximately 15 years ago and again this year. I have improved since being on the gluten-free diet, but I still have to take pain relievers to function. I was taking hydrocodone, but I was becoming concerned, since... -

ARCHIVED Enterolab Testing
bmorrow replied to kallie's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
EnteroLab sent me a coded invoice and I then filed the claim with my insurance company. I am in a HMO, so it would only play 60%, but that is better than nothing. -

ARCHIVED Enterolab Testing
bmorrow replied to kallie's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
My insurance covered everything except the genetic testing. My daughter and I have both tested with EnteroLab, and are very pleased with them. The tests are very easy. Good Luck! -

ARCHIVED How Many Of You Are Also Casein Intolerant?
bmorrow replied to julie5914's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Hi, I am casein intolerant. I was diagnosed by York and EnteroLab. I have had trouble all of my life with dairy products. I could never drink milk, and if I ate ice cream, I would become congested and also have stomach problems. I also tested intolerant to yeast, but I don't avoid it like I do the casein and gluten. I still have stomach problems with... -
I use McCormick spices and Kraft barbecue sauce or Cattlemen's. I also purchased some special seasonings from the Gluten-Free Pantry.
 -
I also have reflux and had surgery for it before Celiac was diagnosed. I am now being tested for Lupus because of all the joint pain and the fatigue.

ARCHIVED Enterolab - What Does It Do Better?
bmorrow replied to baggotlane's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Andrew, I will also add my support for Enterolab and Dr. Fine. I have posted on here previously about my long journey to a diagnosis. I was told by one of the best teaching and practicing GI doctors in the U.S. that Dr. Fine's test is much more advanced and reliable then the blood tests or the biopsy. If you have any questions, please ask. -

ARCHIVED Log Cabin
bmorrow replied to domineske's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I subscribed the the Celiac Smart Food list from Clan Thompson and it states the following: Aunt Jemima Syrups contain Barley and Log Cabin-Country is Gluten-Free, but the Log Cabin lite and sugar free are not gluten-free. I use to get very sick on Aunt Jemima, so I started using pure Maple syrup, but at $10.00 a bottle it is very expensive to use for... -
Andrew, If I were you, I would still have the endoscopy, because there could be something else other than Celiac that they might find. I had severe Gerd and inflammation in my stomach and esphoagus, and wouldn't have known about this without the EGD. I had negative blood tests and an inconclusive biopsy for Celiac. I have posted previously about this...

ARCHIVED York Lab-elisa Foodscan
bmorrow replied to Kasey'sMom's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I also had the York tests and was very satisfied with them. I tested positive for Yeast, dairy and white fish. I already knew about the dairy, but was surprised about the yeast and fish. I hope that your daughter gets better. -

ARCHIVED Cd People W/ Acid Reflux & Gastritis
bmorrow replied to rmmadden's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Cleveland Bob, I started having acid reflux problems about three years ago, before the Celiac diagnosis. I took all of the reflux medicines for over a year, even Nexium and nothing helped. I was like Judy05, I had very serious problems with Gerd. The doctor told me that I could develop cancer from the reflux. I had the surgery for reflux, which is called... -

ARCHIVED Heliobacter Pylori
bmorrow replied to junevarn's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
June, I had the treatment for h-pylori bacteria. I took two different antibiotics for two weeks and eight Pepto Bismol tablets per day. I had nausea all of the time. Of course, I can't stand Pepto. I also had severe diarrhea from the antibiotics. My stool was black from the Pepto. I would say that you need to stay on a gluten-free diet to keep from damagining... -

ARCHIVED Can Anyone Put My Mind At Ease?
bmorrow replied to Becky72's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I have had three done in the past two years and I didn't have a problem with any of them. They sprayed my throat to make it easier for the tube to go down, but I don't remember the procedure. Tell the doctor your fear, and they will give you something extra to help you relax. Good luck! -
Lisa, I have been on two cruises with Princess since going gluten-free. My travel agent contacted Princess in advance and told them I needed a gluten-free diet. I received a letter from Princess, before I left, that told me to see the head waiter as soon as I arrived on the ship. The first cruise was great. The head waiter was intentive. He brought the...

ARCHIVED Back Again And Sick
bmorrow replied to mela14's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Mel, I am sorry to hear that you are not doing any better. I have some of the same problems as you, with the exception that I do have the gene and have been diagnosed with Celiac. Have you thought about testing through EnteroLab for gluten sensitivity? My doctor, at Baylor, told me that a person can be sensitive to gluten without ever developing Celiac... -

ARCHIVED Depression
bmorrow replied to luceemarie21's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I have been taking Zoloft. I won't say that it cures all of the depression, but I take a small dose and I really don't want to increase the amount that I take. I have read on here that Zoloft can casuse Collangeous Colitis, but the doctor says that he doesn't believe this to be true. I have developed Microscopic Colitis, since I have been taking it, but... -

ARCHIVED Food Allergy Testing
bmorrow replied to jenvan's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Yes, I had testing with York Lab for 113 food allergies. I was satisfied with their service. -
I started out my diagnosis journey with acid reflux. Four years ago I started having burning and pain in my chest and back. It was worse at night, after I went to bed. It progressed to the point that I was losing my breath, felt like I was having a heart attack. I finally went to the doctor and after many tests he found that I had GERD. I was treated for...

ARCHIVED Gluten In Makeup?
bmorrow replied to pogirl1786's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I was one of the people that didn't worry about gluten-free makeup and hair products, until I became very ill one morning. I had the same breakfast that I always have and was fine until I was driving to work approximately 10 minutes after eating. I had to come home from work and was sick the rest of the day. I could not figure out what made me sick until... -

ARCHIVED Disgruntled With Enterolab
bmorrow replied to dfish's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Yes, it is very difficult to wait. I know when I didn't receive my results in exactly three weeks, I was trying to determine how to call them. I did email Enterolab and in a couple of days I had my results. The same with York, but my daughter received her results in approixmately two weeks from EnteroLab. Three weeks is not long when you consider how long... -

ARCHIVED Probiotics And Candida
bmorrow replied to christtheking's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I also have a yeast allergy, but I don't quite understand. Does testing positive for a yeast allergy indicate that you have candida? I had an appointment with my GI last week, and he told me that he thought that it was possible that I have bacterial overgrowth, but didn't mention anything about candida. He prescribed Flagyl for 20 days, and told me to continue... -
