ARCHIVED What Is The Difference?
carecare replied to Maryfrances's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
It's articles like this that confuse people. Here they say celiac is an allergy. I know it's not. But when someone does a search on celiac disease and this comes up...well what is one to think. My brother in law has severe psoriasis...and psoratic arthritis. I have been trying to convince him to go gluten free...as well as dairy to see if it helps him... -
ARCHIVED Do Glutened Symptoms Get Worse The Longer You Are Off Gluten...
carecare replied to carecare's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I now actually think he's having gallbladder attacks. He refuses to go to the dr. He said he'd rather live with the pain than have surgery. Guess we wait and see if it happens again. He was in pain this time for about 5 hrs vs 2-3 hrs last week. He read an article about certain foods causing gallbladder attacks...like you were having an allergic reaction... -
ARCHIVED Question About Enterolab Testing
carecare replied to mhb's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
In regards to entrolabs...I have a question too. Do doctors send away for testing through entrolabs? Why wouldn't a dr do that?...and why wouldn't insurance pay for this testing? CC -
ARCHIVED Do Glutened Symptoms Get Worse The Longer You Are Off Gluten...
carecare replied to carecare's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I don't know what's up but he's on the floor again today. Currently on the bathroom floor...hasn't moved in the last 45 minutes. Too much pain. Wish he wasn't so stubborn about going to the dr. He feels awful. At least I provided him with a pillow. We aren't a gluten free household yet....though he is gluten free. I don't know if he's getting... -
ARCHIVED Lump Of Wheat For Christmas: Celiac Symptoms Worsening
carecare replied to anonymical7's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Ha, I just posted basically the same question. My husband had such a bad reaction and I wondered if they get worse once you are gluten free. I now know they do. Wow, now to work on making my household gluten free...ah... CC -
ARCHIVED Do Glutened Symptoms Get Worse The Longer You Are Off Gluten...
carecare posted a topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Hi all, My husband went gluten free in October and he's improved so much with his symptoms (diahrea, horrible indigestion, not feeling good ...plus some other things I think would be related) He says he's never going back on gluten....especially after cheating on Thanksgiving and having two weeks of... off and on feeling bad. Well, the other evening he... -
ARCHIVED Need Help Looking At Blood Test Results
carecare replied to carecare's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I found this in an article on what the blood test results mean. I'm so confused..LOL...because why would the dr. not tell me of this result? Her test was positive for IgA antigliadin AB at 47 units. Both IgA and IgG anti-gliadin antibodies (AGA) are detected in sera of patients with gluten sensitive enteropathy (celiac disease). IgG anti-gliadin antibodies... -
ARCHIVED Need Help Looking At Blood Test Results
carecare replied to carecare's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
The report says "Celiac Disease Antibody Panel"...so should the other things you listed be listed in this report? It's kind of confusing to look at. I'm surprised I was not told the results. Kinda strange....but maybe combined with the rest of the test it would be determined not positive for celiac then? CC -
ARCHIVED Need Help Looking At Blood Test Results
carecare posted a topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I'm a bit surprised. I was told all was normal...and everything was ok. My husband has realized he is gluten intolerant and will never go back to eating gluten so I was curious as to what my daughter's blood test results were from 5 yrs ago. The end of the report says...final results =abnormal. Maybe it wasn't abnormal enough to warrant telling me so... -
My daughter had her appendix out 5 yrs ago when she was in 6th grade. She had pain on her right side for a week and was sent home 3 times from different doctors telling me it wasn't her appendix. Well, when she woke up needing to vomit I rushed her to the ER. I had told her if she felt like she needed to vomit she needed to tell me asap. ER dr still felt...

ARCHIVED Is This A Central Nervous System Issue? ..anyone Have This?
carecare posted a topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I might have asked this a couple years ago when I first came on ...when husband first did a gluten free trial...then went back to eating gluten until October when he did another gluten free challenge. Wondering if this symptom could be caused from gluten intolerance/celiac. For the last few years at night right after getting into bed and before falling... -
Thanks. I don't think it's either shingles or DH. He came home from work and there was a rash in a circle on his upper arm...toward the tricep....about 3 inches in diameter but it wasn't blistery at all...just a slight generalized rash. His skin was super sensitive and it was painful but nothing else...and it hasn't progressed into anything. fwew....I...

ARCHIVED 2 Year Old With Longest Eyelashed You Ever Did See!
carecare replied to charmdb's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I have a friend who's daughter had siezures and it was a result of her having celiac. Going gluten free has totally cleared her of all seizure activity for years. It must be frustrating to be told they found nothing but yet you know something is going on. From what you describe it sure does seem like a type of siezure activity. Hope you can get to the... -
I was wondering if you can have a bad flare of DH then have it go away for many years and then come back. My nephew got a rash that my sister was told was papular something or another and that it was a reaction to flea droppings. He had it all over his body at 7 months old. It flared off and on for that year I think and then not again until possibly now...

ARCHIVED Once You Are Gluten Free What Are The Testing Options?
carecare replied to carecare's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Thanks for the responses. I was thinking that same thing. Just having my husband get the genetic testing and my daughter get the full screening. She's really balking at having the household go gluten free and if it comes back showing a gluten intolerance it would give her more evidence that it's for the best. We know for a fact the my husband is intolerant... -
My husband went gluten free back in October but Thanksgiving he cheated and had cookies and pies. He payed for it for a couple weeks. I also found out he wasn't buying gluten free lunch meat. Now, he has started with a rash on his back. I'm not sure what it looks like but he emailed me today saying "I think I have shingles...it's on fire"...the rash on...

ARCHIVED Once You Are Gluten Free What Are The Testing Options?
carecare posted a topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
My dh went gluten free 2 yrs ago for a couple months with great success but decided to eat as before after that period of time and yes, his symptoms came back. Well, he did a paleo eating challenge with his workout group and realized his symptoms did indeed clear up again. He knows now he can't have gluten. Thanksgiving he cheated and he had issues for... -
ARCHIVED Anyone Else Able To Tolerate Foods That Bothered Them Prior To Going gluten-free?
carecare posted a topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Just curious. I find it very interesting that my husband used to be really really bothered by eating bananas. He'd feel awful afterward...stomach pain and indigestion. However, now that he's gluten free he has been eating bananas every single day and loving it. He went years without bananas because of the problems they caused. Interestingly enough, his... -
ARCHIVED How Long Can You Suffer After Ingesting Gluten?
carecare posted a topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Hi all, It's been a while since I posted. About 2 yrs ago my husband went gluten free and saw great results in how he was feeling but then after 2 months he decided to forget about gluten free living and went back on gluten. Of course his symptoms came back. Well, back in Oct he did a challenge on his crossfit board that was eating paleo to see how... -
ARCHIVED Any Programs For People Who Can't Afford Testing?
carecare replied to carecare's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Thanks everyone. Yeah, I remember walmart being a good place to start. I told my BIL and sister to go shopping there too. I think like my niece if you aren't fully prepared to make that change it's hard to make the first steps to do so. So having those cookbooks and that shopping guide was such a help in getting her going. For some if you don't have... -
ARCHIVED Any Programs For People Who Can't Afford Testing?
carecare replied to carecare's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Thankyou. Yes. I suppose if the gluten free is helping there is no need to go for more testing to tell you what is most evident. I just can't believe her doctors didn't inform her more. Did they not think the damage to the small intestines was from celiac? or were they just thinking it was more damage from her crohns. At 14 her crohns was so severe she... -
ARCHIVED Any Programs For People Who Can't Afford Testing?
carecare posted a topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I have a niece who I know does not have much money. She has crohns disease and has had it since she's been 14 I think...she's now 19 and has two small children. It's been a long 5- 6 yrs for her. A month ago she went gluten free and is feeling so much better. Then her dr says....oh yes you had some areas in your small intestine back in February that... -
ARCHIVED Can A Little Be Okay?...
carecare posted a topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
We started my 13 yr old on a gluten free diet back at the end of December when my husband started. She was having lots of headaches, migraines and has had joint pain for two years (and some central nervous system wacky things that occur..shock sensations in her arms when running around). Only test she was positive during testing from the rheumotolotist was... -
ARCHIVED Anyone From Green Bay Wisconsin Out There ?
carecare replied to thumper's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
We are. I don't think Green Bay is a very gluten free friendly community is it? Anyway, my husband went gluten free at the end of December and so did my 13 yr old. Husband last week reintroduced gluten back in and is finally seeing symptoms return...so he'll be back gluten free again soon I believe. My daughter has ADHD and has been having joint... -
ARCHIVED How Long Does It Take?...
carecare replied to carecare's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Thanks everyone. He's doing ok. Today though he said his constipation is back. So he gets that and then gets D days later. I think he's realizing that some things are starting to appear again. It's a matter of time before the D starts and his fatigue and indigestion. Just waiting...and then he'll realize what he needs to do. My 13 yr old has been...
