  1. Funny you mention Outback. We went there last night with some friends. I am allergic/moderately tolerant of Gluten so keep that in mind. I asked the waitress for the gluten-free menu and next to each steak it listed "stay away from the au ju". I asked the waitress if the au ju had gluten in it. She said no but wasn't sure why it was listed. She went...
  2. In Hawaii some of the food might not come from mainland US and might not be labeled. We shop in a lot of Indian and Japanese grocery stores and most of their food is not labeled at all since its straight from India/Japan.
  3. First off, I'm no doctor but I did listen to mine when he was doing his dictation on my condition...it sounds like your report in laymans terms just means you have Celiacs, not cancer. Shortened/damaged sprue is a result of eating wheat, it does grow back once you cease eating gluten. You have to be careful with statistics. I read things like "Undiagnosed...
  4. Be careful with Tamari. Tamari by definition is supposed to be wheat free but most is not. I looked on Amazon and they listed Tamari under wheat/gluten free but when it showed up it listed wheat as the third ingredient. Even at the grocery store there was Tamari in the gluten free section but listed wheat. I ordered this: Open Original Shared...
  5. As I cut gluten from my diet before going completely free a few weeks ago what I found was I went back through problems I had in the past. 6-7 years ago I might have had an issue that went away and was replaced by something else, thinking I had solved that previous problem in reality I had just replaced it with something else. As I cut down I went backwards...
  6. Thanks. We won't go overboard. We use Olive oil to cook with today and have for the past 5 years. We use Olivio for butter also. We always used Piedmontese beef at home a very low fat organic beef...when we make Indian we substitute coconut low fat yogurt for coconut oil. For the rest its organic only foods except when we go out to eat when its...
  7. I'll check it out. I've been reading about Ketones and keeping that balanced with carbs. Everyone is different. Some can handle as little as 30 to some upto 100 per day. Honestly I'd rather be the latter Tonight was the last of our carbs. We had glutten free pizza and my wife made a great raspberry dessert with chocolate pudding, french vanilla...
  8. The Polish make a great potato donut...when I was trying to figure out why donuts didn't bother me all the time someone suggested they may have been potato donuts. I work pretty close to Hamtramk the Polish capital of the US and there are tons of Polish bakeries around Michigan so that might have been it. I'm going to try to dig some recipes up. Several...
  9. We're not going completely low fat. A few years ago we started eating lower fat foods including Piedmontese beef which is a low fat beef. We replaced that with more carbs like pasta, although whole wheat pasta. I went in for a cholesterol test after a stress test(GERD was the real problem) and my bad cholesterol was 237. We changed our entire diet...
  10. I posted on here a few weeks ago regarding my mild to moderate reaction to gluten/wheat. I'd get stomach problems, sometimes serious, sometime annoying. We finally decided to drop gluten/wheat all together just over two weeks ago. I'm lucky and thankful that I pinpointed this when I did since hopefully I caught it so early nothing will ever get...
  11. Thank you for your reply. I'll discuss it with my doc and see what she thinks. The science, if its true, makes sense. It digests the gluten before the intestine kind of like Lactaid. It is funny though the more I read about people who have different reactions. Brain fog, rashes, neurological issues I start to wonder. I get a rash on the inside of...
  12. I am in the process of going through diagnosis for wheat/gluten intolerance. Part of the process is finding a new doctor. I did not care of the previous GI doc I saw as she misdiagnosed me with Ischemia...and then told me "don't worry about it". I'm 35 and for years apparently I've had a reaction to wheat/gluten and never put two and two together...
