  1. Ya got dat right. Glad to be of service, Kassandra. She's in Phx. Surgeon probably recommended by her orthopedist (that's bone guy right? ), who was prob rec by someone else. (Not much help there eh?) I swear to you, spinal surgery has made incredible strides in the last decade. I don't know where any talk of titanium being bad originated...
  2. It does I was asked that by a GI, an alleged celiac 'expert'. Not sure whether he asked to rule in or out celiac tho. Definitely mention it. And Good Luck w/ whatever may come. (Studying metoerology?)
  3. Absolutely. For years I too figured that's 'just the way it was'. I wish I'd wised up much sooner. Celiac wasn't talked about much in the 80s & 90s. Once a sibling is diagnosed, the chances of another having celiac disease are much higher. The doc HAS to test for it, or is simply a doc not worth seeing again. Really? You'd rather have...
  4. My mom got several titanium bracket-looking things put on vertabrae last yr and has never felt better. (Ok maybe better in her 20s - but maybe not. She's 72) She'd been having trouble w/ the most basic physical tasks before the surgery. After? She actually went skiing last winter!!
  5. Janet!! You're too much! EVERY letter part of a name?? RiDickulous yet FanTABulous! :impressed: I can't comPETE!! Another!! Which reminds of some slapstick from this morning. I'm on my new sparse PATio but get up to rePHIL my coffee. I'm in the KITchen (does julie chen make even my 'chen' count? ) when my phone rings on the patio. I...
  6. I really never had "what might've been" thoughts until ~July. Never. Wondered plenty about whether I'd be ill until the day I died tho. Anyone in our position *has* to wonder that. (Psssssst it's not true for the proactive) It really did come on a lot harder than I ever could've imagined. Ended up not just having the blues - more like Holly Golightly...
  7. My ongoing day: All the stress of moving day w/out any of MY stuff getting moved. On the bright side, I DID run into an old girlfriend, from 17-18yrs ago, at a chance stop at a gas station! (Willow Glen Rotten Robbie, for those in the know)
  8. Incredible! I can't imagine how this is possible! <spew!> blechhhh! I remember that bit well enough I don't need youtube to visualize it.
  9. I think I must need to read back. Is "eating a banana" a euphemism? P.S.
  10. My little problem was detailed on OMG. Didn't feel much like eating for a few days, but I'm back to eating what I should now. (Tsu-tze thinks I have an eating problem? ) Tho 30-some under my old weight, still 20 over my low. Tom doesn't have a lecture handy, but where's the line form for the other?? Now that IS curious that it's different...
  11. :o :o :( :( I've half a mind to . . . .. Eh that's it .. .just me w/ half a mind. P.S. I think I lost 7 lbs this week. Can I have some of yours?
  12. Every word in whole sentence??? Gian-nit ( ) is guiphted at this & mayks it luuk two ee-z. "Defibrillated the deer" has a "jumped the shark" ring to it. Susie - Mom's been well since becoming part android?
  13. I second the hope!! Not sure how it came up, but I was surprised a couple months ago to find only one fellow Pretenders fan! <we interrupt this testimonial to report a hummingbird 6 ft away! > Tattooed Love Boys came up but not her best line in it. ("I shot my mouth off and he showed me what that hole . . .was . .. . fo' ") <hey . . . ...
  14. Ooooooo a new twist on the FoeNeddiKulls! Me Likey! Hallllllllllloooooooooooooooo eberybubby! I haven't been feeling silly for a little while, , but I think I'm baaaaaaaaaaack NOW!! Hmmmmm how much catching up is there to do? And will I be able to resist commenting on stuff that everyone thought had played out . . . . . . .doubtful, tisn...
  15. Hi everyone! Wow it's hard to catch up from a couple days off!! So sorry to see so many having a rough time. JUDY! THE INCREDIBLE SHRINKING TUMOR!! FANTASTIC! My little problem was just emotional. It's a very rare situation to find myself in, tho I did realize in June that I was suddenly a much more emotional person than I ever expected...

    ARCHIVED Maggiano's

These 2 are from the San Jose CA Maggiano's. And
  17. I was in the thread when the call came. What hit so hard was that previously these thoughts were largely speculation. The bit about 4 yr old eyes was unsolicited - totally out of the blue. She didn't say "when you were little". She said four. It's the first and only objective datapoint/anecdote on the subject. More than just a different spin on...
  18. I suppose this must mean I failed to convey the level of anger and sadness permeating my every cell today. (REALLY not in the mood, Carla) Sledgehammers don't land lightly.
  19. Mom just called w/ what she thought was a happy thought, saying the look in my eyes lately reminds her of when I was 4 - full of excitement etc. But it's more like being smacked in the head w/ a sledgehammer that's inscribed "what might have been". Gluten was re-introduced when I was 5. 35-40 yrs of dull eyes. Well not ALWAYS, but certainly as a...
  20. Isn't there more than a touch of irony in this apparent contradiction?

    ARCHIVED Maggiano's

Oh hathor, that's horrible!! While I've heard of many great experiences there, yours is NOT the first Maggiano's complete screw-up I've heard of. I really don't know if I'll be able to trust them. One question - what city/location Maggiano's was that?
  22. First, I *totally* agree w/ *everything* Happynwgal2 wrote. I had a similar experience, including many anti-depressants failing to do the job. (Sometimes they'd seem to work ok for 2-5 wks maybe) Yes . . . . . .very. The protein in milk, casein, affects many celiacs. You may have seen the phrase "Gluten-free Casein-free diet" - it's...
  23. Oh Ding-GoGo-Girl (vegas theme, right?), I hope I can Danke Shen in advance for an av change!! What's next? Liberace? This is just so WRONG for Miss Outdoorsy Cliff-Climber. Reminds me of a claustrophobic elevator operator from days of yore. LOL yes, ye shall henceforth be known as "Squats w/ Avatar-Caption Envy".
  24. Omg Janet this *SO* cracks me up. But I am a little chagrined that I didn't immed take it for what it was. Ya got me good , so kudos & touchee etc. <tom can't stop laughing at being "run thru w/ me own cutlass"> NoSoyBoy here caught on early. Maybe a month ago(?), I started seeing your name SO often on the same thread as me...
  25. Not me!! If I can't specifically confirm *those* exact Natural Flavors are gluten-free, I won't touch it.
