  1. It's really not monumental at all. It'll be second nature before you know it. I say why wait on condiments etc? 90% gluten-free doesn't make 90% of the symptoms go away. Ritz? Used to love 'em. They can't be more important than the difference betw 'angry & bickering' & 'happy & fun'. Do 100% gluten-free, toothpaste & everything...
  2. Hmmm the stomach cramps aren't surprising to me, but the rest sure is. I have no idea. Does "jacket potato" mean "magic potato"? Am I the only one who's unfamiliar w/ the jacket part? I've heard of one 'coated' lol w/ butter but that seems irrelevant. Oh cool, I figured you'd seen that thread. But there was no mention of it here! I hope you CAN...
  3. So very sorry. (My bad) No no no Emily!! Well, ok you shifted it from an orange pyramid to a pyramid OF oranges, but my point was that punkinhead (lol) protested the math, yet was the one who 1st threw down the geek gauntlet.
  4. Oh yeah u got it covered. Did u check your tire pressure? The hotel room w/ kitchen is the way to go. I should find that bkmrk for the site that lists kitchenette hotels cross-country. Sometimes they try to pass off a microwave & coffeemaker as a 'kitchen', but not that much. Open Original Shared Link Great site for us.
  5. For at least 2 yrs, I couldn't have ANY of these. (Problem was, I WAS having soy, until 3.5 mos ago) - Soy - common intol - Corn Tortilla chips - 1/3rd of a chip would make me dizzy. - Potatoes - no strong reaction but mild crappy a couple days - Vodka - didn't try but all alcohol was weird. Wouldn't even have vanilla extract due to the alc. - Sprite...
  6. I never tried oregano oil, but that is NOT what I think of as a candida die-off. I'd read and been told it would be like a bad flu, and it was. For 3 days. 3rd day only 60% as bad. I couldn't imagine trying to work or even go to the store on any of the 3. Well, maybe a store late on day3. Then no other days felt like a die-off, and I slowly started feeling...
  7. Arrrrrrrr!! Finally all caught up! Ended up reading much of it 3x and laughing anew each time. Oops I misattributed someone's comment! My bad! Or leave 'em on and call it a Carribbean Tickler? Aye, we be one saucy wench down . . . And I think next summer I should be able to try these magical mojitos...
  8. "Oh . .. . . My . . .. .. Gawwwwwwwd" is right! Where to start? Why, w/ the math of course! O = sum of n sqrd, for all n from 1 to L, where L=length of one side of the base. Yup 91. <and nosoyboy is left trying to figure out why the 108 & 72 happen to differ by 36, the original # in the word problem> OwOwOw!! now MY brain hurrrrrrrts...
  9. LMAO what an av! Ok enough silliness for one morning. Oops it's 1pm! It's amazingly going be under 100 in Phx today, so I gotta go shoot hoops!! Yayyy!!!!!!! :)
  10. Carla - bah the off-topic, I'm the one who asked, so the demerits are mine. Good to hear of the successful trip. Small progress is still progress. Hmmm having trouble picturing it. But the mathletic side of me is intrigued. There's a '2birds-1stone' aspect to satisfying academic curiousity and feeding maximum thread silliness through simply...
  11. I'm very curious about this also. I only became 'well' in June and mostly feel so good I don't even want to TRY adding foods back. The more tests I do, the more often I'll feel crappy when the food 'fails'. BUT . . . . . I did try a little corn. The last time I tried any, just a bite of a corn tortilla chip, I was dizzy in seconds. That was at least...
  12. Hehe . . . . . . . .will today become "Talk Like A Pirate About Susie's Hair" Day? Avast ye saucy wenches!! Bev!! Mention a soy plank agin & ye 'll be kissin the gunner's daughter! Arrrrrrrr!! Begad we be needin' t'punish the blaggard responsible fer that bilge-sucking hair! Launch the dinghy pseu-zee! Time fer fetchin the poxy...
  13. www.enzy.com/pearls is the site for a probiotic "guaranteed" to not be released in the stomach. I see the page also has a powder but I only know about the pills/pearls.
  14. Hi Kerstin, I say it's not only possible, I think it's even *likely* that this will change w/ a gluten-free diet. My own frame of mind changed for the better SO drastically when I finally got all the food intolerances out. ("So drastically" is actually an understatement) You may even be amazed at who you are w/ a couple wks 100% gluten-free. No cheating...
  15. Hi Melmelsmom, I'd call that lactose-free, but not dairy-free. Very common for a celiac to have problems w/ casein, the milk protein. (Lactose is the milk sugar) There are many choices for a milk substitute to put on cereal. I use either an almond milk or a hazelnut milk. Just don't use a Rice Dream product! There is barley in those and the weasels...
  16. Where IS everybody??! <testing . . . . .testing . . . . .is this thing ON? 'tap tap'>
  17. I didn't get to go to the link yet, but I expected Even Stephen to be Colbert 'debating himself'. Oh!! Oh! Or was it pre-Colbert Report and it's Carrell vs. Colbert? Carla but it sure didn't start funny! !! Ok now lemme preface this by saying I'm not proud of it, but I just saw part of "Beauty & The Geek". During tryouts...
  18. I DO feel great, thx, even stuPENdous(!), ~98% of the time, for the last few months. Welcome to the forum! And a slightly belated welcome to the gluten-free world! Sounds like you've had vast improvement in a short time. Gotta love that!!
  19. 1st, I second what Sherry and Carla wrote. 2nd, a food/symptom diary can be invaluable. There must be SOME variation in the misery. And to answer "Do we just have gentically rubbish digestion doomed to be like this forever?" I give THAT an emphatic NO! You're not doomed to be like that. There is an answer. Starting a thread is one heckuva good...
  20. uhhhhhhh you're welcome? So many disparate ways to reply to this. (I guess it goes w/out saying that irritability can be a symptom) Not sure whether going from "allergy" to the above indicates you've scaled the steep part of the learning curve in a few hrs, or if I should just ask for a link to where it was copied. <too snippy?> ...
  21. Of course, even if it's true, the sampling is biased. If that 1:133 ratio is correct, each of us celiacs would have to check and report on 133 non-celiacs' pinky lengths to correct the sample. For all we know 30% of THEM have the short pinky. Oops, just realized it was for gluten-intolerant, not celiac!! So that tosses out the 133 number, but not...
  22. Before going gluten-free I sometimes had that burning. No idea what circumstances led to it.
  23. Posted this on OMG, but w/ the expertise he can provide I think it's worth repeating here. I sure coulda used him LAST month, searching for a D vitamin w/out soybean oil! axes
  24. Am TOO!! <did I just fall into a bugs bunny / elmer fudd bit?>
  25. Am I out of line to request that you replace "allergic" w/ "auto-immune" in the future? There are certainly ppl who are allergic to wheat, but they'll never have the complications or associated disorders that a celiac can get. I think when the average shmoe hears "allergy" they think hay fever. (Unless their own child could die from a peanut allergy...
