  1. You can't go wrong with a good old-fashioned Margarita!
  2. Have you had a blood screening for celiac disease yet? This would be the normal first step, before an endoscopy. If so, please share your results, if not, you may want to ask your doctor why this hasn't been done yet. Certainly diarrhea is a symptom, as well as well headaches and seizures...here are articles on this: /celiac-disease/celiac-disease...
  3. Celiac.com 11/25/2020 - Ginger beer is basically ginger ale that is fermented into an alcoholic beverage. True ginger beers are made with sugar, ginger and water, and nothing else! Most top brands of ginger beer are made the old fashioned...
  4. When you say you got the genetic tests, did you also get a celiac disease blood panel that shows different antibody results? If so, please share that info with us, as this is normally how celiac disease is diagnosed, and a referral for a biopsy is made. Issues with teeth enamel is a symptom of celiac disease, but your case sounds extreme. You should...
  5. Yes, continue to eat gluten until the testing is finished...normally a slice of wheat bread a day is the amount recommended.
  6. Celiac.com 11/24/2020 - We get more than a few questions about beer. One question we see a lot is about ginger beer. Specifically, is ginger beer gluten-free, and safe for people with celiac disease? Ginger beer is a popular cocktail...
  7. Certainly celiac disease can cause severe canker sores: as well as many other issues involving nutrient deficiencies, like beriberi among others. Just knowing that she may have had genetic markers for celiac disease isn't enough information, because more than 20% of people have the genetic markers, yet don't ever develop celiac disease. More...
  8. I would communicate your gluten-free diet needs with everyone involved with your food. So the person who brings you food--ask them if your meal is gluten-free. If they don't know assume that it isn't and insist that they find out.
  9. It sounds like your doctor has already made the formal diagnosis based on your blood test results, iron deficiency, etc., so perhaps the results won't be a big factor for your doctor either way. Three days off gluten likely isn't enough time to heal if you do have gut damage. Let us know how it turns out!
  10. Just so you know there are some forum members who are heavily against proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) because they lower your stomach acid, which can cause other GI issues. If you have GERD it makes sense for your doctor to prescribe this, but it is possible that there are side effects, so be sure to look into that as well.
  11. I too had some severe episodes which landed me in the emergency room at least twice. I also thought I was having a heart attack. For me it just took time, and a couple of years on the gluten-free diet. Since you are 4 years into the diet you probably should not be having such symptoms. You may need to look at other possible issues like food intolerance...
  12. Celiac.com 11/23/2020 - Since March 2020, when the World Health Organization declared coronavirus disease-2019 (COVID-19) a global pandemic, researchers and laypeople have been wondering if people with certain health conditions, such as...
  13. Grand River Foods Ltd. is recalling Unmeatable brand Southern-style Breaded Strips from the marketplace because they may contain wheat which is not declared on the label. People who have an allergy to wheat or have celiac disease or other gluten-related disorders should not consume the recalled product described below. Brand Product Size UPC Codes Unmeatable Southern...
  14. I've not heard this as a common reaction to accidental gluten ingestion. Have you been diagnosed with celiac disease? If so then obviously it's best to avoid gluten at all times. Refined sugar should probably be classified as a drug, as it is very addictive, and is bad for everyone. This article might offer better options:
  15. This article may be helpful, be sure to also look at the comments to the article:
  16. I think the best is GF Barilla pasta which can be found in many stores like Target.
  17. If you were not eating gluten daily in the weeks leading up to your blood test for celiac disease is could lead to false negative results.
  18. This article might be helpful:
  19. Well you have many symptoms that are consistent with celiac disease, and I recommend that if you got a celiac disease blood panel done to get the results of the test and share them with us. I wonder what your doctor might mean by “negative.” For example my daughter, who has an ~44-48% chance of having celiac disease because I and her grandmother hav...
  20. Well, I hate to say this but your doctor is incorrect because you can’t test for the antibodies unless one has been consuming gluten until the tests were taken, but you’ve figured this out anyway...I hope your health continues to improve!
  21. Unfortunately your doctor is correct and you would need to eat gluten daily, about 1 slice of bread, for about 6 weeks to get an accurate blood test result. They may then order a biopsy, and you would need to continue eating gluten until that test was also finished. The big question for you is, do you really need the official diagnosis that badly? It...
  22. Gluten-Free pet foods are getting more popular. Dogs and cats should not eat gluten...we just did a review on a GF dog food:
