  1. Celiac.com 09/08/2020 - Women with a type of hair loss called frontal fibrosing alopecia (FFA) have higher rates of autoimmune disease, estrogen deficiency, and thyroid hormone issues, compared with the general population. The study...
  2. Yes, such panic attacks can be a symptom.
  3. The Nima sensor cannot test distilled or hydrolyzed items, which it says on its site.
  4. We updated this to say “may contain“ because they don’t necessarily contain msg.
  5. So do you have celiac disease? Was there gluten in the candy? If so, here are some ideas:
  6. Celiac.com 09/07/2020 - Anyone living in a bubble for the last decade or two might be excused for asking "What, exactly, is bubble tea, aka 'boba tea?'" Anyone not living in a bubble the last decade or two, and who has celiac disease,...
  7. They sometimes list all of the active and inactive ingredients on the box. If they did this it would be listed in the inactive ingredients.
  8. Celiac.com 09/05/2020 - Looking for a dessert idea that is as simple and easy as it is original and delicious? These stuffed Medjool dates are not only gluten-free, they are naturally sweet and tasty. The blue cheese and the pistachios...
  9. Sorghum is gluten-free and eat my millions of people ever day. This reminds me of how rice can be high in arsenic. I guess like most this you need to decide it you want it in your diet or not.
  10. Please give us a review, it looks good. I wish we had something like this near me.
  11. Celiac.com 09/04/2020 - We all love burgers, but sometimes we want the burger experience without all the carbs. That’s why these Hemingway-style burger bites are perfect for a relaxed summer afternoon! For anyone who thought pan-f...
  12. I am not making any accusations here, but another possibility is that she could be cheating on her diet, or getting accidental gluten. In my experience having a teenage daughter, it was her cheating that caused her antibodies to stay high. This drove me nuts for a while, and after I realized that I really could not control her I at least got her to agree...
  13. If I were you I would get a genetic test done on her to see if she carries the genes necessary for her to have celiac disease. A negative blood test with a mild positive biopsy would also leave me with many questions.
  14. If the vinegar is fermented, then all ingredients used to make it must be gluten-free for it to be labelled gluten-free. If the vinegar is distilled, it can be labelled as gluten-free no matter what ingredients are used to make it, so distillation renders it gluten-free.
  15. Yes, the Canadian article was about disability insurance, and I may be grandfathered into the company health plan (2006). I will check into that because it may make sense to go through Covered California to see if I can get a better deal. In any case, I recently checked on the premiums for extending my life insurance, and they would be sky high due...
  16. Is it possible that you also have an issue with dairy/casein? Many people with celiac disease, including myself, have, at least temporarily, additional food intolerances after being diagnosed. This is due to a condition called "leaky gut" and once you successfully heal your gut with a gluten-free diet for several months, or even up to a year or two for some...
  17. Regarding #7, you would not want to treat parasites unless you first went to your doctor and tested positive for them. At which point, the doctor would treat you for them.
  18. Malt vinegar is fermented, not distilled. The new rules state that anything distilled is gluten-free, no matter the source. Hydrolyzed products made using wheat or other gluten grains cannot be used in gluten-free products, and must declare "wheat" on the label if wheat is used to make it.
  19. BTW, regarding my health insurance going up in the USA. I am not 100% sure since the ADA (Obamacare) has been in place if they are able to raise my rates due to me having celiac disease, but I suspect that they can. I could be wrong here, but the ADA simply says that they can't deny me coverage for a pre-existing condition, but I do not believe that there...
  20. Don't take this as official advice, but I have to deal with Kaiser Permanente, which is about as close as it comes in the USA to social medicine (it is a "not-for-profit" health care provider started by Henry Kaiser to provide free health care for his WWII ship building workers). In cases where I want to be tested for something I've been know to answer...
  21. Some celiacs also have an intolerance to corn protein (zein), I had a temporary one that went away after my gut healed following 2 years on a gluten-free diet. To know the specifics of the gluten-free diet, these lists might be helpful to you:
