  1. I have a question. I have been trying to stick to my gluten free diet since March. One week I will feel great, and the next week I will feel terrible again. I never know how I am going to feel when I wake up. When I first started the diet, I had so much more energy, and felt pretty good most of the time. I was so happy. However, now, I go through many...
  2. My family is taking a trip to Universal Studios today. I am a bit worried about finding places to eat. We are staying at one of the hotels right in the park. I am hoping that the restaurants will work with me. Anyone have any suggestions?? One nice thing was that the hotel offered to supply me with a refrigerator for free so I can keep my own food in...
  3. I feel the same way!! I keep going through days when I get so depressed!! Sometimes it's about the food I can't have, but I am usually depressed because I just want to feel NORMAL again. My friends and family have definitely been very supportive, but they don't understand!! (except my husband). My group of friends keep inviting me out to dinner, but it...
  4. I'm in Jacksonville too. That sounds like it might be fun!
  5. I also found out something interesting about gelatin. I was excited to find out that I could eat skittles because they are gluten and dairy free. However, when I called the company, they said that the gelatin in their product is derived from beef. Gross!
  6. Thank you so very much for all of the supportive emails! I can't believe what a life-saver this website has been for me. It really does mean a lot! I'm feeling a little better now. I'm just so tired of the bland food, and the constant worrying (and panic attacks). However, with all your great advice, I am definitely finding ways to make things better...
  7. I have been tossing and turning in bed for the past couple of hours, so I had to get up to clear my head. I have been gluten free (almost) for about 4 months now. I have been doing pretty good on the diet, and then all of a sudden I just start having panic attacks because I don't feel like I had do it ANY LONGER!! I also can't do dairy and soy, and now...
  8. msmini14 - You wrote and said you had an appointment to get a tattoo. Did you get it, and did you have any reactions? Just curious.
  9. Thanks for all the info!
  10. I tried to add dairy back into my diet after being gluten free for about 4 months now (I think). I tried the Breyers extra creamy nonfat chocolate ice cream. There were all kinds of weird ingredients in the ice cream so I called Breyers, and they said that it was gluten free if the ingredients did not specifically say "wheat". I had a good sized bowl of...
  11. I also got really bloated from the rice chex cereal (and it did say gluten free on the front). However, I seem to feel the same way by just eating plain brown rice. I also got really bloated from the rice based yogurt (Ricera). It's a bummer too, because it was really good - but I hate being bloated!
  12. Hey! Ok, this is a crazy question, and I didn't even know what section to put it under. I am wondering if it is safe for a person with Celiac Disease (and other food allergies) to get a tattoo. I got my first tattoo over a year ago, and it was the SAME time I started getting so SICK. It had to have been a coincidence, right????? Does anyone know anything...
  13. Hey! I was wondering if there is anything I can substitute for margarine in baking? I can't do dairy or soy. I have been wanting to bake some brownies and chocolate chip cookies, but most all of them I have found call for margarine. Thanks!
  14. I was wondering if anyone knows of a good protein shake mix that is gluten, dairy, and soy free?? Thanks!
  15. How much magnesium is safe to take to get the laxative effect?
  16. Hey! I also have issues with this. I read what you wrote, and went out and got some miralax to try. I'm wondering what you mix it with, when do you take it, and how often you take it. Thanks!
  17. Hey, - I live in jacksonville (not too far from the beach), and I'm 36 yrs. old. I have 3 children (10, 7, and 4). I'm trying to start baking gluten free desserts, but I'm having a hard time finding things that are gluten free, dairy free, and soy free. Any suggestions?? I have made a chocolate cake, and pumpkin muffins so far, but I'm thinking that...
  18. Hey! I have been reading a lot about aloe vera, and how it is so good for the immune system, and also good for regularity. I bought the pill form (because the juice seems gross), and took two on Sunday. I felt terrible Sunday night, and all day on Monday - very tired, and every muscle in my body was aching. I didn't take them after that, and I felt much...
  19. Hey! I just noticed your replies. I also live in Jacksonville. I love it here (only a few minutes from the beach)! I also LOVE Native Sun - the labels make shopping so much easier. I also found a little health food store on Beach Blvd. that carries a ton of gluten free foods. I have found that some of the Publix stores also have a pretty good selection...
  20. I just recently started taking B12 (tablet form), and magnesium for my muscle pain. I'm feeling pretty good after only about a week. I can't remember for sure who suggested the magnesium, but THANKS!!!
  21. Ok - what is the deal with nightshade vegetables? I am not clear as to why we need to avoid them, and what is bad about them. I have arthritis in my back, and have recently been reading that some people with arthritis benefit from avoiding them. Do sweet potatoes count? I have always heard that tomatoes and tomato sauces were supposed to be so good for...
  22. I agree, they need to get their act together. And, I think we should all avoid centrum vitamins right now.

    ARCHIVED Eating Out

My husband and I ate at Bonefish Grill last night, and it was a great experience! They do have a gluten free menu, and the food was SO GOOD! I also love the atmosphere there. I think it's the first time I have eaten out, and didn't have any problems!! Just thought I would share.
  24. OK - I'm definitely going to try red wine with my dinner next time we go out to eat. I always forget all about being sad about not being able to have the bread once I have had a couple of drinks!
  25. Hey! I have been taking centrum vitamins for about a year now, and thought I had read that they were gluten free. I just called them, and none of their vitamins are presently gluten free. Just thought I would share. Now I have to find some that are. Thanks!
