  1. I've had celiac disease for years, 5 years I've been cooking and buying gluten free products and have ntoiced changes. Have had worsening symptoms, seem to react to soy products now, not sure what else, but getting tired of have indigestion everyday in class. It's distracting to other students when I get up several times during collge classes and I get behind...
  2. Is it possible for a celiac, who is on a gluten free diet and 95% or more of the time is gluten free, to have a bit of diverticulitis in the lower end of the large intestine? What kind of detox teas or foods or natural remedies should one do to rid a bulge or inflamed large intestine? Would there be other causes to this bulging that have symptoms a person...
  3. You have to be careful and read the ingredients. Most bottled spices contain a wheat derived substance to keep the spice from sticking or clumping int he bottle. Check out your gluten free book guides at a book store or Barnes and Nobel. That's how I learned there is wheat in spices. The wheat is under a different name of course, so the bottle isn't going...
  4. Also just a thought, check and make sure if the shampoos that your washing the animals in is safe for your skin. Hopefully there isn't any cross contamination from that to your clothes and to other things, just in case that may be giving you a reaction. Sounds far fetched but may be something to look into.
  5. Trying to live a gluten free life for 5 years, had it since childhood and didn't know (lived with pain/problems). Some how I get gluten about every month now, getting the diet and other products under control takes a long long time. Takes me about two weeks to get back to normal digestion (if I do my procedure of recovery). Diagnosed with cancer at...
  6. Over the last few years I have noticed an increase in my immune systems strength as I've changed my diet over to gluten free. Students and friends get sick around me as usual but I show very little symptoms and in fact recovery very quickly. The only issue I have if this is true is, my system is working over time and when I'm partly feeling symptoms I'm not...
  7. Wonderful hot soup to warm a person up in the morning or for a light lunch. Provides the vegetables, vitamins, proteins, and is a quick make in the kitchen. Honestly this egg drop soup could use a little gluten free soy sauce to top it off. Start with washing and chopping: bok choy stalk, 1.5 cups cabbage, 1/3 to 1/2 cup bean sprouts, 1/2 cup mushrooms...
  8. I asked for the gluten-free menu and (after they scrambled to find the file on the computer to print out a new copy) I read through paragraph after paragraph of warnings that I assumed would already be there so no biggy. Then I spotted the Citrus Salmon and asked that it be wrapped in tinfoil and cooked on the grill that way (because in the pamphlete the...
  9. Hey, I'm single in my mid 20's and dating non celiacs and doing alright. The date and I usually go to the grocery store and pick out somthing to make back at either persons apartment ONLY afte we both feel comfortable enough to invit the other over without feeling our boundaries would be disrespected. That's definantly not on the first date. Activities like...
  10. I'm not really a party person, I'm mostly just working and doing college class stuff or home projects for comic books and reading. So the party scene will be skipped with me. Love the heat of the sun though! Can hardly wait, but I will.
  11. Cool I'm looking forward to more vitamin D, lol. Also, I'm use to the Lewiston valley summers which are a desert heat. Just outside of town on the highway to washington or southern Idaho there are cacti and tumbleweeds. The summers often get to 100 easy and a couple summers I remember the temp at 120 F and all the black roads tar snakes were wiggling under...
  12. Thankyou all, I'm so frustrated that he'd do that. I'm going to get my paperwork and say "tah tah!" to him! I could sure deal with the arm energy test a lot better after this poking session. Sheesh.
  13. My history is complicated (scholiosis, celiac disease, hernia under the left rib cage, etc) and latley I wanted to have my blood tested again after the last test a couple years ago. I looked up in the yellow pages a naturalpath, originally interested in a foot bath, and got his attitude on the phone that I should explain why and what I had wrong with me to...
  14. Was looking at Phoenix or Gilbert. Not sure now, but sure would enjoy the hot summers Boise is getting a bit chilly for me. I was living in Mooscow Idaho, which had temperatures in the negatives most of the winter....BRRR> totally tired of that. Your from AZ? Where did you grow up at?
  15. Hello I'm from Idaho, currentlly still here, grew up here too. Soon I plan to move to Arizona so I'm wondering who all is in either area? I'm and art student, female and single lol Kind of checking the scene here for friends or so.

    Lost

She needs to begin a clean slate as soon as poossible. No processed things from stores what so ever. This is what I've had to do. I have been figthing and now have learned 2 1/2 years later that FRESH fruits and FRESH vegetables and FRESH caught fish/seafood are the only way to go. Except red snapper fish...not sure why but that will give me gas build...

    Need Food

I usually whip up a big pot of white sushi rice/ or just white rice (sushi rice is sweeter and stickier which will last long through out the day). Then I add my meat (which is usually tuna steak or salmon because of it's higher fat content and sweet meat flavor), then add a bunch of vegies like bokchoy, collard greens, bell peppers, mushrooms, and I dry and...
  18. Your best solution for this coffee thing from my experience with many kinds of coffee and the symptoms that I encountered...is to buy green un-roasted coffee beans, roast them yourself and grind and brew your own coffee. Green coffee beans last months to years in a sealed container. Roasting takes a super hot frying pay ready to go, green coffee beans and...
  19. As of latley I had restrained from ALL gluten and was still having some slight sumptoms but were delayed. Couldn't, or didn't, want to point to the coffee....NO NOT THE COFFEE my one true indulgence! So my mom convinced me that, I should...try to not drink any coffee for a couple weeks and see if I had improvements of my mild delayed sumptoms. Sure enough...
  20. This is very helpful being I've had symptoms for quite a few days on my usual diet and finally I stopped (reluctantly) the coffee intake...uh hem...and survived. And the sumptoms stopped! I'm so ticked off that another thing that I enjoy, practically the only packaged thing I enjoy, is now possibly dangerous to me. ARG It was a starbucks decaf brand...
  21. I tried a bite of the Dark Chocolate Cacao, crunchy roasted nibs from Alter Eco Fair Trade made in Bolivia. I should have known by the picture of the bloated man on the back of the package that it would do the same to me if eaten. So I tried a bite, like an idiot, and sure enough I had instant bloatation, cramping, gas, and mood swing. Now...I hate this chocolate...
  22. As the prevous poster posted, once positive its a positive. That's my understanding. As for the symptoms I've got maybe the most diverse that I've heard of. For me I have instant bubbles or excess saliva in my mouth, great for taste testing just not to swallow. Next comes instant gass build up in all of my intestinal track up to my stomach and esophaguss...
  23. I am FED up with chocolate bars and cocoa treats (being I am a woman needing chocolate at times of the month...uh hem) that always seem to make me swell up/indegestion/gassy/you name it sick! SO, I have decided to seek out any suggestions, recepies, advice from those who know how to cook or know of someone who can cook great of any cocoa bars/treats from...
  24. Thank you, I will look into that. I will pray for the little girl too.
