  1. When my dd started getting sick, she was throwing up multiple times a day and I didn't know what was causing it so I thought it best to keep her home from school. Our family doctor thought she was throwing up because she was coughing so bad because she had croup. Once we got her cough calmed down, she was still throwing up and I thought she was making herself...
  2. Oh, I never even thought about the cross contamination and I keep forgetting about the hidden gluten in products. Thank you so much for letting me know.
  3. My dd just got diagnosed a couple weeks ago. Her IGG levels showed she could have Celiac, but her biopsy was in normal levels. He said that she has gluten sensitivity and has not technically diagnosed her with Celiac yet, but he still told us to cut out gluten from her diet. And ever since we did that, she has been so much happier than she has been in a...
  4. Well, today she was back to being happy and easy to deal with. YAY! And I'm so proud of her! Somedays I let her have hot lunch at school, but I work with the school on what she can have and what she can't. For dessert today, they were supposed to have strawberry shortcake, but I told the school that she can only have the strawberries. Of course, the...
  5. I do have to admit that I let her have a treat today. One of her friends at school had a birthday, so I let her have a cupcake for a school snack. Oh my! What a difference today was. She came home irritable and when I asked her to work on her homework, all she wanted to say was "I can't do it" or "I don't know how to". I did eventually get her to do her...
  6. Thank you all so much! It's a wonderful feeling to know that she's feeling better and actually seeing how much more happy she is.
  7. I'm thinking it's Carly going home tonight.
  8. David Cook was awesome tonight.
  9. Ooh, now that you say that, maybe it is because she's feeling better. She is so much happier lately than she was a few weeks ago when her stomach was hurting her all the time. She will be 6 next month. Thanks for the idea on the food diary. I'll get that started right away.
  10. We just changed DD's diet two weeks ago. Even though she could be very irritable at home, she was always well behaved at school other than having a hard time with concentration. Last week, we got a note home from school saying she didn't want to line up after recess. That was the first time we got a note home from school and it really surprised us. We talked...
  11. Wow, your kids sound exactly like my DD who I just put on a low-gluten diet. Doctor didn't want me to put her on a gluten-free diet yet. She was always so irritable and come to find out, in school she had a hard time with concentration. Her teacher was telling me that as she was teaching, DD would just turn around and stare into space like she was thinking...
  12. I like Michael Johns too.
  13. Thank you all so much for all the great ideas!
  14. I'm sorry, I did forget to mention that her IGG levels were elevated. Because of that they did an Upper GI and visually saw inflammation in a part of her small intestines. When the biopsy came back, it was within normal levels. Even though the biopsy came back negative, if I'm understanding this right, she could still possibly be Celiac? I'm sorry, I'm...
  15. Those look great! I'm not sure if they have a microwave she could use, I can check on that though. We do have a thermos that has just been waiting to be used and I keep forgetting about it. I can't think of a better time to start using it. Those ideas sound awesome! I'm not exactly sure why her GI dr. told us to put her on a low-gluten...
  16. I'm wondering what are good ideas to pack for a kid's cold lunch at school. We just started DD on a low-gluten diet about a week ago and she is already getting tired of the salads I've been packing for her.
  17. When my daughter started getting sick, she threw up a lot. She was throwing up for a couple weeks when we first called our doctor. He didn't know what was causing it so he just put her on Prevacid. She was fine for a couple weeks and then she was throwing up for another week and then she was fine again. It would go back and forth for her until me and my...
  18. Everyone, thank you so much for your help.
  19. On Monday when we found out that we had to cut out gluten from Skye's diet, the nurse told me that it was still okay for her to still eat Cheerios. I was surprised because I thought there was gluten in there. We are new to this, so I let her eat Cheerios in the mornings. And then this morning, she woke me up because her stomach was hurting so bad. ...
  20. At the end of last year one of my daughters, Skye was throwing up a lot. Our family doctor put her on Prevacid and it helped for a little bit and then she would get really sick again. It would go back and forth for a while until me and my husband decided something needed to be done. We called our doctor back and he wanted us to take her to see a GI. We...
