Ok. So, had enough of a break out to get the skin biopsy done. Now ten days of waiting. But I'm just sooooo happy to have this part of it done!
-
Thank you, JoAnn. I have already printed the information on the iodine patch test and intend to take it to my next visit. Yes, he blew it off. But he did agree to biopsy when I have fresh lesions. So far, I've had small pimple like bumps that I end up scratching open either in my sleep or before I realize what they are. It took two weeks to really break...

Sorry it took so long. So, this is my husband's arm. He put the iodine soaked band aid on for one hour. *same amount of time that I did* This is what his arm looked like two days later. There's a ring where the iodine had stained the skin but no blistering or other skin reaction. It looked similar to the area where I had the band aid on my arm for a few minutes...

ARCHIVED Gluten Challenge: Symptoms Improve?
Crimson replied to Lynayah's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I'm about five days into eating gluten again. I feel like hell but not as bad as I thought I would. I have had a headache and nausea since about four hours after I started and joint pain after the first day. The DH that I think I may have has not hit me yet. But the D is only a few times a day as opposed to like ten that I had before. I'm tired and feel like... -
Thanks, ChemistMama! I am only taking pain medication right now because I'm back on gluten. NOTHING but headaches and joint pain right now. Tylenol knocks me out, but I'm tired all the time anyway right now...so it doesn't really matter. Before that though, I hadn't taken pain medication for years. Going wheat free years before gluten free had kicked most...

Hi, Dan. Sorry that you've had such a hard time with diagnosis. Reading some of the stories here, I'm sure you realize that you are not alone in this. I was just sticking with the self diagnosis until this happened. Might as well go through with it. About the patch test: My husband actually agreed to put an iodine soaked band aid on his arm too. And his...

Thank you for asking and for the answer to this question! Much appreciated.

haha Funny you should say that.... As stated, I had been gluten free for over a year. The only time I have trouble is when I come into contact with gluten. This one, as far as I can tell is because we had company over and had run out of paper plates to use for those who used buns *pretty much everyone but me* and used regular dishes. I washed the dishes and...

ARCHIVED Dark Choc. Macadamia Nuts W/ Confectioner's Glaze
Crimson posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
This is what I found about this confectioner's glaze.... The LAC resin is dissolved in alcohol. I'm not sure if this is why or if it's just a sensitivity that I have. Every time I've tried eating these things, I get sick. I notice that there are some that react to things that may have to do with this type of coating too. This link is an interesting read... -
Thank you for the support. I really appreciate it! I will be checking that link as soon as I'm done here. TY! Yea, I knew the Dr. at the ER had done it wrong. But, I had said the last time that I broke out, I would go. So, I did. I did try to explain it to him. But, he had no clue what I was talking about. Again, I'm off to the dermatologist tomorrow...

Thank you for your replies. I'm sorry that your husband had to take the meds. I hope the best for him and that he gets much better! So, here is a pic of what my arm looked like after the Dr. in the er took a swab and the blisters were busted. And here is the pic of the iodine patch test that I did. I used a solution of 2.4 % on a band aid and...

I thought it looked like a less extreme version of the pics I've seen on the net. It is still spreading. And itchy. They tried to give me anti viral meds and steroids...ofcourse. Steroids for EVERYTHING. I've just been putting Benadryl Gel on them. Were you tested? Do you know what to expect? The dermatologist that I made an appointment with for next Monday...

I went to the hospital to have a swab taken. I hope they run the right tests. I have no idea what they'd test for. I asked specifically for a DH test. The Dr. didn't seem to get what DH actually is. I tried to explain it but I'm not sure I got my point across. Doctor's don't seem to like people who do their own research. So, this turned up yesterday and...

ARCHIVED Had Celiac Panel Drawn Today...waiting For Results.
Crimson replied to Wispyshadow's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
GOOD news here. Her blood test came back negative. Maybe she didn't inherit my genes! I'll still be keeping an eye out for symptoms in the future. But for now, she's showing nothing. I'm relieved. The results only took a week. Or the Dr.'s office only took a week to call with results. -
ARCHIVED Had Celiac Panel Drawn Today...waiting For Results.
Crimson replied to Wispyshadow's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I had them screen my daughter *she just turned 8*. They took the blood for the test this past Friday. We were trying to distract her but she was facinated by the blood being drawn. She did great! I'm with you on the waiting, the guilt of what foods to feed *though my home is gluten free, she still eats school lunches* and "what if's". It's all very frustrating... -
ARCHIVED Fingerprints And Celiac Disease/gluten Intolerance
Crimson replied to Lovelycherry's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Betaine HCL is to help raise stomach acid levels. Though, if it's mixed with pepsin, you should consider taking it for a limited time or take days off from it so that you can see if your stomach has gotten to the point where it can do the work itself. It's also a hell of a lot easier to swallow than vinegar. Good debate and conversation is extremely... -
ARCHIVED Fingerprints And Celiac Disease/gluten Intolerance
Crimson replied to Lovelycherry's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Have you ever considered ditching the antacids and taking a teaspoon of vinegar? Sometimes that works because the symptoms are actually from low acid rather than too much acid. As for the rest of it. Say what you will. It helped me. As for pushing whole wheat, you may want to take a swing at the American Heart Association. EDIT: Here's the... -
ARCHIVED Fingerprints And Celiac Disease/gluten Intolerance
Crimson replied to Lovelycherry's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
A little over three years ago, I picked up a copy of the ERFYT book and decided to give it a try. I was eating a nearly vegan diet with LOTS of whole wheat bread. And I felt like hell all the time. So, in my opinion, this diet helped me. I felt better than ever! With in the first month, I had gained muscle mass and weight, my headaches and joint pains were... -
It could very well be that you do not have an issue with gluten itself. Wheat proteins *I think grain proteins in general* are hard for the body to process for anyone. They're just harder to digest than other foods. It could be that you system just needed a break and now that you've given it that break, you find that you can tolerate them better. Though...

ARCHIVED Hi, New And As Yet Undiagnosed
Crimson replied to Quasior's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
The only thing I can reply to here is the "growing pains". Mine started when I was about six. My mum took me to several doctors for that and the headaches. The pain, which would start in my hips and radiate down to my knees and further down to mid calf. It was a terrible burning pain....in the bones. I took more tylenol than what a child should. I would pace... -
ARCHIVED Alopecia?
Crimson replied to 3groovygirls's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Oh do I feel for you guys! I'm not fully diagnosed, but I did have Alopecia. Starting at age 17 I started losing hair in quarter size circles...starting at the crown a bit toward the back. Then all over! At that time I lost half of my hair. I would continue to loose hair here and there for years due to "stress". I would always have spots of hair growing... -
ARCHIVED Grinding Your Own
Crimson replied to quietmorning01's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I've thought about getting a grain mill. But, I use my $15 walmart coffee grinder too! It works great and if it breaks, it's not expensive to replace. I don't bake large amounts or use many grains *my system doesn't like grains* usually almonds ground for flower. Perfect for me. -
ARCHIVED Can You Lose Hair
Crimson replied to UnhappyCoeliac's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I've no clue if this was gluten related. But, when I was seventeen to nineteen I would loose hair in patches. It just started falling out one day... it started with one spot on the back of my head about the size of a quarter and then I'd loose spots here and there. Half my hair was gone at one point. The Dr.s said it was alopecia areata....or stress. But... -

Enterolab results. I've been a year gluten free. Doing pretty well. Certainly feeling much better. Obviously still reacting. ? I guess. I'm still always reading what's going on here and still learning a lot! Thank you for that.
