  1. So I've been in search for a primary doctor since my last one rejected me for rediculous insurance reasons (not good when you are a college student). I've been calling everywhere and cant see a GI doc until I have a primary doctor. The closest appointment I can get is in JULY!! UGGHH! So I'm in a dilema. I know that gluten bothers me and I'm reading a lot...
  2. I'm not really in the same situation as you, but I can understand why you want answers from a doctor. In my situation I havent seen a doctor, but i narrowed my problem down to being gluten, dairy and eggs. My whole family thinks this whole thing is just in my head. At one point they actually got me thinking that also, so I went off the gluten free diet and...
  3. Are you seeing a GI doctor? I know there are some GI doctors that specialize in digestive diseases so they should understand how the testing works. I'm having a problem even finding a doctor in my area right now b/c I have this feeling its going to be a long process just to find out if I have celiacs or not. This is why I think the gene test would be the...
  4. thanks! that makes sense. now that I think of it, I had always got really thirsty after eating my entire life. People always ask me how I can drink so much water with a meal, but it always seems that even after on bite of something I have to drink water. I could never unerstand how someone could sit and eat a whole meal and not touch water....or even eat...
  5. So I've been gluten free for a little while now. I don't know if this is related to it, but I feel like i cant drink enough water. I normally drink plenty of water throughout the day and I am a runner so I am very well aware of the need to stay hydrated. Lately since I've been gluten free I just feel dry; my skin feels dry, my eyes get dry,my nose and throat...
  6. I have been visiting the organic isle in Tops quite a bit now and have been noticing new gluten free products every so often. The thing that bothers me is many products will clearly label "gluten free" in big letters on the front, but then when you read the ingredients list, at the end it states "produced in a facility that also produces products containg...
  7. I think I'm going to try to get the gene test. I'm also going to try one more time to eat gluten. My digestive system is still recovering from a week ago when I tried it....I was under a lot of stress too, so mabye I had a worse reaction b/c of that. It seems like being gluten freee and then going back causes your body to react stronger.
  8. thanks. yeah, sorry, I was responding to the post before yours and shouldve qouted it. I will definitly look at that link!!! thankyou, I havent heard of that
  9. thanks. I'm well aware of gluten free beers and other drinks that are gluten free. Because regular beer has gluten I just thought maybe b/c my body is reacting against gluten it may not be able to catch up with the alcohol, therefore the alcohol would effect me more. I was just seeing if anyone has this reaction and if this is the reason I get sick......
  10. I've been asking a lot of questions in here since I can't afford to go to a doc yet..... So I've had digestive symptoms for quite a few years. I was trying to figure out when this whole gluten intolerance thing started with me ( that is being aware that it may be what I have)... I've always had the digestive problems, but the getting sick and exttremely...
  11. I was taking beano for a while, it seemed to work at first, but after a few times it made my gas problem worse and made me naucious...
  12. SO I understand that before I get tested (if they do the antibody test) I should be eating gluten. Do I have to be eating it for a certain amount of time before the test? I can't even go back to eating gluten right now, I tried and was completely miserable for 2 days and am still recovering today, I felt like i was coming down with the flu almost. I was...
  13. I always hear that the typical celiac will gain wieght when going gluten free. I havent been diagnosed with celiacs and havent even see a doctor yet, but I found the reason I've been feeling like crap and getting sick all the time is gluten. I tried elimination diets on my own and I found that going gluten free makes me feel amazing. IF I go back to eating...
  14. I heard that with the DNA test, it just shows wether or not you carry the gene for celiacs. Just because you have the gene doesnt mean you will get it... ....but I know less than people here does anyone feel deyhdrated after eaten gluten?
  15. yeah thats true. but I'm also worried I wont find a doctor that even knows that-ha yeah, trying to explain a gluten free diet to my family= the response : what? thats insane. thres nohing you can eat!!! you're crazy...... plus they are almost all italian.......that doesnt help.
  16. Hi... this is really lengthy, but I dunno how else to get my point/concern accross... I have had digestive issues my whole life, but they started getting really bad around age 17. I am 22 now, and ever since then they just seemed to get progressivly worse. My symptoms are mostly severe gas/bloating and frequent constipation and then diarhea. My gas...
