  1. YEP!!. same here. I feel like I am going crazy sometimes! I am self diagnosed and havent even talked to any doctor about it b/c I know they wont really do anything anyways. I told them in the past about my digestive problems but they made up some wierd reason for it- like at 17 I told my doc I have really bad heartburn after lunch everyday at school...she...
  2. what ursa said is true. when I first started gluten-free I went out and bought processed foods and was still reacting to them. I did elimination experiments and found I cannot have large amounts of soy or dairy ( I try to stay away altogether). I stay away from potatos as much as possible and take it easy on corn. potato flour which is used in many gluten...
  3. thanks! I will look into that!
  4. I know what you are going through. I wasnt officially diagnosed, but figured out gluten was making me sick. I am in college and decided to try going gluten-free on my own. I felt amazing. but then finals came and I got stressed/depressed. I decided to go back on gluten so that mabey I could get tested for an official diagnosis. The gluten actually made me...
  5. I also sometimes take a long time to react. It depends. If I have a large serving of something with gluten, I get gassy/bloated/migrane soon after, sometimes I don't. It seems when I get CC or other small amounts somewhere I don't start feeling bad until 1-2 days after and it usually takes a good 5 days to feel good again. It all depends on how much stress...
  6. hmm. I went to wegmans, spent $56 dollars and left with 3 full bags of stuff....I'm set for 2 weeks. but then I'm a poor college student shopping for myself.
  7. haha. good points! So I talked to my mom how the family dinners went. she said they were good, but her stomach has been bothering her for a few days (nothing new, I've been trying to convince her it's gluten, shes not gluten-free like me) I said "well, GEE, it couldnt be the food, could it?" she said, "no I didnt eat that much, but I did eat a lot of turkey...
  8. these are really good! I like the black pepper and the onion ones, the originals are good, but I had to get used to them. only problem is seeds tend to bother me. As long as I dont have too many I'm ok...I think...havent had them in a while The blue diamond ones bother me...
  9. O.K. I'm defintly staying away from potato chips altogether! I bought wise natural low sodium chips. I had them a couple days ago and had really bad gas that day. I just tried them again today and about 10 minutes after putting them in my mouth the bubbling and rumbling started up again!!!!! thats ok though, they arent healthy, I'm definitly done with...
  10. i think I am going to do this, only I'll try using hemp milk. I cant have soy anymore
  11. ditto on this. I when crazy also, thinking it was the water! now I'm gluten-free, still use the same toothpaste, no shedding!
  12. I have had this before going gluten-free also. it was almost border line bloating, but with that twisting sensation. it went away when gluten-free, but occasionaly I will experience some symptoms of it, just not anywhere near as bad. I find it is usually directly related to the foods I eat, and stress definitly is a factor with me. I find eatingplenty of...
  13. I know this issue as probably been posted a million times, but I just wonder if I am sometimes becoming obbsessive with it??? I am a college student, poor, so I am unable to buy new cookware, toasters, ect, ect. I threw out my toaster I had and kept the toaster oven. I'm living with other people right now for the summer, my brother and occasionally my mom...
  14. OMG!!!! I thought I was the ONLY one! lol. YES, this happened to me before going gluten-free also!, it used to get imbarrassing because I'd go to work and skin would still be shedding in my mouth! it usually was really bad first thing in the morning after sleeping all night......after a while it got to a point where the skin started tearing away so much...
  15. thanks!!! thats some realy good advice! I'll definitly try the crackers and egg thing and the rice and quinou, I eat a lot of that already, but mixing it with differant things is a good idea. I always leave a yolk out when I make eggs also, I think it is the yolk that bothers me?? what kind of nuts do you buy? I prefer almonds, peanuts dont always...
  16. cool. I used to eat yogurt before going gluten-free, but dairy bothers me now. I am also avoiding soy, although I can tolerate the small amounts like oil, soy letchin ect... small amounts of dairy like coffee creamer are ok too, but to drink milk or yogurt= not very happy stomach at all! I'm also light on the corn. as far as eggs, I havent ate them in a while...
  17. Hi, I'm a runner. I used to be heavy into distance running but sinceI started getting sick and went gluten free, I cut back quite a bit and stick to shorter faster runs with 1 or 2 long runs a week, I actually feel better doing this and can control my wieght better (although being gluten-free has helped in that area a lot). I also folllow up my runs with...
  18. I agree with this. My family is exactly the same way. Every, and I mean EVERY perosn I know in my family has some kind of digestive problem. EVen my brother who said doesnt have any problems like me : after every meal he'll go to the bathroom, I can't help but hear it doesnt sound like normal pooping HAHA. and most of my family has the same mind set - moderation...
  19. I have had this mostly when I was eating gluten. SOmeties it would be with the stool, other times I would get the sensation to go and all that would come out was the mucous stuff, but like you said it is more like saliva, but thicker than water. I recently had this again while gluten free. it happens mostly wheni get constipated. I would really like to know...
  20. If you can go to the doctor tommarow then do it!!! or at least get in BEFORE you go gluten-free. if you go gluten-free before getting tested it could turn up negative. Be glad you are in the position that you recognized you may have celiacs and can make a doctors appointment. I had all the symptoms of it for over 6 years. by the time I recognized it could...
  21. HAHA yeah I think that too sometimes with the companues I will look into the b12. I'm hoping to see a GI doc soon because I've just started having severe constipation for the past few days, to the point where I have cramps and its right there, I have to go, but wont come out! and then there's blood-ahhh! and mucous, which I havent had since I was on gluten
  22. Has anyone had trouble concentrating after going gluten free?? I've been at it for a couple months now, minus a couple CC incidents. I started a new job and I am just having the hardest time focusing on what people are telling me and memorizing information, it's like my brain does not want to work and I get frustrated!!!! When I was eating gluten I remeber...
  23. thats interesting. I just looked up pictures of DH. What I have definitly isnt as severe as that, but the red bumps are very similar, only I just get a few at a time/ usually close together. Is is possible to only get one or two?? and I dont ever rememebr having these bumps anywhere else besides my thighs. The rash I get on my chest resembles more of a...
  24. For the longest time, on and off, I would wake up in the morning with what appeared to be bug bites on my legs, usually the upper thigh area, they were usually close togetehr, but there was never a center where you could see that something had actually bitten me. Sometimes they'd itch, other times they didnt and took over a week to dissapear, sometimes returning...
