absolutely its usely processed with wheat there fore not gluten free...its also called hing in hindi..watch out..its not essential and can be omitted...looking for savory snack recipes pls...if u have any -

i usually google the recipe and go for which seems most authentic..i am looking for a good recipe for cashew barfi too but am able to make almond barfi.. soak 250 gms alomnds overnight discard the water,skin n grind to a coarse paste them in the morning(i keep the skins for the fiber) heat 125 gms ghee add almond n roast on slow for 15-20 minutes add... -

i am delighted..when we started our gluten-free diet...this forum was a lifesaver and now with this thread..things can only get better.. i am an average cook and my kids love sweet indian desserts...their fav is Ras Malai..its milk based and is ready in a jiffy a litre of fresh milk + half cup sugar + 2 cardamom pods opened and powdered + pinch of saffron... -

would u consider starting a thread on indian recipes here...i have had my share of successes with desserts etc..like Ras Malaai and jilaibi etc....so would love to contribute too...we could share our experiences...its an idea..what do u think??? after all this forum has been a starting point for many celiacs..and many of them do the indian food too.....

wow..thanks for a great recipe..will try it soon with my kids..i was wondering though that if you frost the cookie...and do the oreo thing...then serve immediately right???or can it survive at room temperature or fridge..i am still learning....and would appreciate you sharing ur experience...bless this forum....bye

i was close to tears when i posted on this forum...reality is that even beofre the diagnosis i have always,and i mean always set out with a plan..whether its a meal or an outing...i would be prepared..whether it was extra t shirts..inhalers..snacks(beofre celiac)....that drives my hubby nuts......my hubby is the spontaneous sort...so i guess he just wanted... -
its been a long day...managed a good lunch and dinner..then was able to freeze and process other side dishes for the up coming weekend...we r taking the kids to a fair tomorrow...i thought it would be smart to pack some snacks and possibly a light meal...hubby thinks its a bad idea...he thinks by planning every meal like this...i am cornering my kids and...

well uht milk means that the milk has been treated at high temperature for longer shelf life..then packed into tetra packs..its long life milk..an alternative to powdered milk..i live in the middle east and have had no luck pursuing anything over the phone...those who attend the toll free numbers have no clue...i have mentioned this beofre on the forum too... -

i am lookin at my daughters results as i am typing....the doc u mentioned is plain nuts...it takes a while for the numbers to fall...case in point..my daughter, had 200 plus in her first result dated march 2008...and it came down to 35.8 dated jan 2009.....after a whole year..and we r vigilant too...the school is invovlved...we maintain a gluten free home... -

its true that regular grind gives that sand in the mouth feeling but if you soak the rice flour in the milk before hand and then blend and then the rest of the ingredients the results are far superior...no grittiness.... -

thank u guys...the guy at the company first emailed me that the chips were gluten-free...then later emailed the statement i had posted ....it couyld be an attempt to cover themselves ...i did jump and get some few bags.......the kids tolerated them well...but being still new at this(gluten-free for a yr)....i didnot get any more chips and will avoid them... -
i wrote to the company several times and was finally able to get this reply in email...does this mean they r safe

HI every body iam from pakistan.My kids have celiac.They were diagnosed last year.It was overwhelming at first but we have modified all our recipes and r Managing well by grace of God.I would recommend u guys cook from fresh spices etc..and u will be fine..we r lucky our asian cusine is so versatile and we can enjoy our curries with rice...i will this roti... -

THE CRACKERS WERE FAB!!!! THE KIDS WERE DIVIDED THOUGH...SON FOUND THEM TOO CHEESY BUT I AND MY DD FOUND THEM VERY CLOSE TO RITZ CRACKERS..... now if i reduce the amount of cheese and maybe add an egg, i would have a better dough, the original recipe was bit crumbly...any ideas you have more experience than i do...so any suggestions or tips would be... -

I have tried them too and they were outright rejected by my kids bc of texture and taste...i think almond flour is good but my kids r not keen on it genrally...and i have no acess to xantham gum or specialty products or boxed mixes...so everything is pretty basic...but this forum has been literally a lifeline..we have been on this path for a year and half...
