  3. I have been on the gluten free diet for one whole year today.......wow! It seems like just yesterday I was eating bread that doesn't coast 5 bucks a loaf. I have to say that in three or four extreme moments of weakness I may have taken a bit of my daughters food without her looking. It's hard being the only celiac in the house, especially when I do ALL...
  4. I just feel the need to tell everyone when I come accross a wonderful gluten free product! My Giant just started selling Schar ladyfigers, and I tried them for the first time yesterday. They are awsome! Yummy.........
  5. Three years after I had my daughter I noticed my GI problems were becoming a big problem. After I would eat I would feel bloated and have pains in my stomach. It got to the point where I would only eat once a day, at night, then go right to bed. After hearing a bunch of sh!t from all different Drs, I was dx with Celiac 5 years after my first symptoms.

    ARCHIVED Thyroid

I have a nodule, and my thyroid is enlarged. I was dx with Hashimoto's in November I think. I agree that it is somehow related to Celiac. I didn't start feeling the effects of the thyroid problems till 3 or 4 months after I started the gluten-free diet. I think my immune system had nothing to do after I stopped eating gluten.....so it moved on to something...
  8. I was shopping at giant yesterday....I saw honey nut chex says NOW GLUTEN FREE right on the box. They were gooooooood!
  9. okay thanks.....does that include Unithroid or is it limited to Synthriod? I guess that means you are taking Levothyroxine.
  10. wow....that is really nice of you . I think my body just needed time to ajust to something new. I am still on half a pill every other day, but the swelling has gone away. Next week I will bump myself up and hopefully I will start feeling like my old self again. Thanks.....
  11. My daughter wants to start taking vitamins. She can't swallow pills yet.....so I am looking for a chewable. What kinds do your kids like? Thanks!
  12. I want to start taking vitamins, but there are soooooo many different types and brands. What do you think are the best celiac friendy kinds? I took centrum pre-gluten free diet, but I stopped cause my stomach would hurt bad after taking them. I don't know if that was due to all the damage gluten was doing, or if I just have a weak belly. Anyway....what...
  13. In november I was dx with Hashimoto's and started 50mcg levothyroxine. After three days on the med I felt bad....constipation, edema, and what felt like a heavy heartbeat. I stopped and all went back to normal. I tried again 2 months ago, 25mcg unithroid, and it happend again. I took another break, and Monday I started with half a 25mcg pill...and I am...
  14. I did not cool the cake upside down, and I did use a non stick pan. I will follow all this wonderful advice and try it again (as soon as I get an aluminum pan). Thanks again everyone.
  15. I get cream of tartar right in the spice section. By the way.......I made my angel food cake, I was really disappointed with how heavy it was. I was hoping for something light and fluffy. The flavor wasn't bad, but it wasn't what I hoped for. I did not wait for the egg whites to reach room temp, maybe thats where it went wrong. I did use a baking mix...
  16. Do you think I can substitute all purpose baking mix for the flours and xanthan gum in an angel food cake recipe? I am not much of a baker, just have a craving for angel food cake. I would hate to buy all those different flours and stuff. The baking mix has guar gum in it already.....that is the same as xanthan gum, right? Thanks!
  17. just wondering if anyone gives whole foods 365 organis cocoa balls cereal to your little celiacs? I know they don't contain gluten, but they have that prossesed in the same facility statement on the box.
  18. I love a good deal.....especially when it's a gluten free good deal!!!!!! I was just at Genuardi's and in the seasonal section ther were gluten free loaf cakes on sale for $2.65. I got chocolate chip cake, but they also had vanilla, marble, chocolate coconut, and chocolate chocolate chip. I assum all Genuardi's carry basically the same seasonal stuff,...
  19. I have had honey kix, strawberry chex, frutty and cocoa pebbles, and trix all without any problems. I would also like to point out that I never had any gi issues before I went gluten free, just high liver enzymes. So if there is a cc issue, than don't go by me...go by someone with a sensitive tummy. This whole situation sucks if you ask me. I want...
  20. I got a box of Honey Kix today......no gluten listed in the ingredients! Yum
  21. I ordered seasons 1-4 and I'm half way through the 2nd. I got the complete series on e-bay for $120. My boyfriend, daughter and myself are just addicted to this show! I read that David Tennant wanted to be "The Doctor" since he was three, and is leaving the show to play Hamlet in a play. Also, he is Scottish and fakes his accent for the show. I also...
  22. so....who would win in a fight.....Rose or Martha? Donna dosn't look like much of a fighter. My family is also bummed over the change in doctors, but we were also bummed the first time and that turned out great.

I'm not asking if anyone thinks it's okay to eat gluten if you have Celiac Disease. I'm saying for the past 9 months I have felt horrible, and after eating gluten every day for weeks I am Feeling great...
