  1. Well, I vented, unloaded, or whatever you want to call it, but, on another forum. I think maybe my post belonged here, but, alas, people here still helped me. My wife is a great support during this time. Of course, I know that Celiac is a life sentence so to speak. She helps me remain gluten-free, but, at times, messes up. She reads all the labels...
  2. Thanks very much for the tips! I have always tried to have the attitude that the AVOID list is shorter than the GOOD list, but, there is some depression in this whole thing. Is there a source that would list an inventory of gluten-free items in the grocery store? I asked at my Schnucks if they had some sort of inventory of the food grocery items so...
  3. I read on another forum a post regarding some study on oats. Here is the link: Open Original Shared Link In the beginning of my quest to investigate why I was always sick after eating, I found my way here when my Dr. suggested bread as the source of my problems. Further investigation revealed Celiac or gluten intolerance. I had only eliminated...
  4. Okay everyone, I was just wondering something here. I know they have a pill available for people who are lactose intelerant to be able to consume diary problems. I use this pill almost daily. Is it possible for there to be a similar pill that would take care of accidential gluten ingestion? I'm not talking some pill that would allow us to eat a loaf...
  5. In doing a Google search, I found that items were discussed that were supposed to be gluten-free that contained the two substances you mentioned. I would guess from that search, that if items containing these ingredients are gluten-free that they would not be a problem. This is no guarantee, but, I would contact the company or even put the name if the...
  6. Yes, Lactaid is gluten-free. Open Original Shared Link Above is a website that I found that you can look up things usually found in OTC drugs to see if they are gluten-free. This site also tells you if it is Vegeterian free also. We always buy Equate brand. It is actually called dairy digestive supplement. Seems like it is about $10 for 120 caplets...
  7. I will be traveling to China to adopt a daughter, but, it will be some time into the future. What I am interested in is staying gluten-free in China. It is going to be really hard anyway, because the babies usually cling to the fathers first. So, I will be the one not getting much sleep, and the one the baby will probably be all over. She will probably...
  8. Yes, I too have ran into the statement, NO WHEAT, but, YES we use FLOUR. FLOUR isn't WHEAT is it? I also find that people just don't realize how dangerous it is for us to consume wheat! I have the same problem with Equal sweetener. It will give me a massive migraine headache. I cannot tell you how many times we have gone to SONIC (not much anymore...
  9. I am not ashamed at all to ask, but, the overall response I have found is one of NON CONCERN. Maybe that is the wrong way to put it. I have gone to restaurants that are supportive, but, many just tell me that they cannot assure me that I can find a menu item that I want that is gluten-free. So, more often than not, I would rather just stay home and...
  10. Is the full name of this place called Nothing But Noodles? I looked that up on Google, but, the online menu has no mention of gluten-free menu items. Thanks!
  11. I would have to 2nd the fact that TB is not a safe place, the Taco seasoning that you buy in the store has wheat flour. However, the Taco Bell Fajita seasoning (in the grocery store now) appears to be safe. TB is one thing I really miss.
  12. I would like to know about molassas. Is it gluten free or not? It is not on either list, however, it seems to affect me in the same way that gluten does. Is this it, or did I miss some other ingredient that may be been the cause. Specifically, I narrowed it down to BBQ sauce that made me sick. Thanks!
  13. Chili is dangerous anyway. Look on the can. Brooks chili beans have wheat flour as do most other beans that I have found. Steak-N-Shake chili is safe as far as I can tell. Thanks!
  14. COST?????? They really have to be kidding!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Cost. Let's see.........how much can it possibly cost to add the line "CONTAINS WHEAT INGREDIENTS" which I think would be adequate, to each package? I mean, I don't have any idea how each box is printed, but, surely it cannot even really cost that much....
  15. Yes, me too! I have noticed that some companies are doing this on their own!
  16. Okay, now I have not read EVERY post in this topic, so this may be repeated later on, but, my wife is a type 1 diabetic, so I have some exerience in this subject. My wife is on Metaglip 2x daily plus insulin as needed. My wife is also disabled, and exercises often. She has to use a pool to exercise because of some injuries she sustained, but, exercise...
  17. I have become very good a reading the sides of cans, packages, etc. and I have come to at least one conclusion. IT SHOULD BE ILLEGAL TO MAKE PRINT THAT SMALL!!! Seriously, some of it is hard to read, but that is not my question. How do you deal with the term "spices"? That is just one of the things I have been wondering about. It would...
  18. Hello again. I am a newbie that has been gone for awhile. Just been really busy. I have a question that I was curious about. I have found that being gluten free has made dining our rather difficult. Most places that I go, they are very concerned, and bring out a chef, or a person in charge who will check ingredient lists for me. One thing that comes...
  19. Yes, lots of foods. I was sharing with my Aunt today what my findings have been about Celiac. I have decided to look upon this as positive as I possibly can, and you seem to be doing the same Adam. I am looking at this with the attitude that there are lots of lots of things I CAN eat. I am not seeing this as looking at all the things I cannot eat...
  20. I wish I had made note of the issue, but, I was in a Dr. office yesterday with my wife and thumbed thru the Readers Digest in the waiting room. Celiac Disease was discussed in that issue in the story Top 10 Disease's Doctors Miss, or something very similar. I checked the website, but, nothing came up under a search for Celiac. It didn't offer much...

  22. I posted earlier in one of the forums here about not being sure if I was born with celiac disease or if it developed later on. I can say for sure that I have had headaches some very severe for as long as I can remember. Some of my earliest memories are of terrible headaches. I can remember being in 2nd grade. The neighbor kid was facinated with being...
  23. I would say go for the biopsy since the blood tests were abnormal. Another thing, I had a bad gall bladder and many of the tests were "normal" or inconclusive. Ask the MD to order a hitascan. Ask him to do the whole test. They will do some sort of scan, then, thru an IV that will be placed at the beginning of the test, they will inject this fluid...
  24. Well, I for one know that consuming less gluten has caused a radical change in how I feel. As far as being symptomatic or asymptomatic, I would have to say that I have far more symptoms of Celiac than not. It has not always been that way though. I don't know if celiac disease is something that you are born with, and it keeps growing and growing and growing...
