  1. I was where you are now about 10 months ago! The best thing that I did after my daughter was diagnosed, is I made a trip to a local co-op grocery store. I cried as I walked through the parking lot, but after I saw the amount of gluten free foods that were available for my daughter, I smiled as I left the store (with a cart full of good food for my very sick...
  2. Its funny you should post this. My husband and I were just looking at our 22 month olds pictures of when she was first diagnosed at 16 months. The stomach on her was incredible, and if your child resembles, mine, it will take a while. It was about 4 months before my daughters full tummy went away. Good luck with this new way of living!
  3. Does anyone know of a goldfish cracker that is gluten-free? Also, is there a one stop shop for good foods that I can't buy in stores near me, specifically chocolate donuts, blueberry muffins, pretzels, and goldfish crackers. Thanks!
  4. My daughter is getting bored with our usual snacks that I can get at a local co op. I have been looking for specifically gluten free pretzels, a fruity cereal like Fruit Loops (not fruity pebbles), and kinnickinnick donuts and blueberry muffins. Do you know of a one stop shop that has a good selection of this stuff, so that I don't have to pay shipping for...
  5. I am glad you guys are here! I will call back the co op and let them know that their spelt pretzels are not good enough for my girl! She tried the Ener-g ones when we were on vacation in San Diego. I found them at "Sprouts." She ate them up so fast, and since then, I have searched everywhere for them. We don't have those 2 stores that you mentioned above...
  6. I have been on the lookout for a gluten free pretzel that I do not have to buy online. At our local Co-op, they say they DO carry gluten free pretzels, they are "Vita Spelt" and also they have spelt pretzels from Newman's. So, is spelt gluten-free?
  7. My daughter has been prescribed "Omnicef" for an ear infection. I have contacted the pharmacy, and they don't have any info on whether it is gluten-free and I have checked the website and they don't have any info, or a contact phone number. Now it is Friday night, and I am at odds, trying to decide whether I should give this med to her, and hope it is not...
  8. Somebody wrote "my favorite poster" and I agree! It seems that when I see his name on the post, I feel good about it being accurate! You seem like a nice guy! Glad to hear they found a solution! Good Luck in recovery!
  9. Yes, it is! I called the company about 2 months ago on this, and their reply was "YES!"
  10. Jess, I was there about 6 months ago with my 14 month old! I also hesitated the biopsy, and almost left the hospital during her appt. It was a very tough thing to do, but I am so glad we did it! We have proof that this is what she has. My GI Dr. is treating a 5 year old now, that his parents took him off gluten, and now they find out he never had Celiac...
  11. I love it! Anything that I can make ahead of time, freeze, microwave, and serve for an easy lunch...I am all over it! Can't wait to try them!
  12. I recently bought a box of this for my daughter, and nothing on the label indicates that it has gluten. Now, under the ingredients list, it says, "may contain traces of wheat." Now, does the company just post that, so it can cover its butt, or should we stay away from it.
  13. Thank you for the replies! I am sitting here crying (happy tears) imagining the first time my daughter can eat off of a plate in a restaurant, with food that has been prepared especially for her. I am afraid the first time that happens, I may have to hug the server...hopefully I will be able to refrain myself from embarrassing my family! I have found the...

    ARCHIVED Red Robin

What is HVP and HPP? I thought that anywhere that uses a seperate fryer would be safe to eat their fries? This is a bummer! What kind of questions would I ask next time, when I want to see if the french fries are gluten free?
  15. Update! Her tests came back normal! She must be moving so much lately, that she has lost the weight that way! We go back in 2 months for another check up...I am sure everything will be fine! Thanks for the replies.

  17. I looked back at a thread in August, but it really didn't have any info on Disneyland. We are going there in June with our 20 month old Celiac daughter. Can anyone give me options of where to take her, or how I would find out who to talk to for a gluten-free character breakfast? Any info would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!

    ARCHIVED Red Robin

Recently we visited our local Red Robin restaurant, and asked the server to see if the french fries are fried in a dedicated fryer...after the wierd look she gave us...we explained what we meant, and our purpose for the question. She checked, and said yes! Our 18 month old devoured a basket of fries happily, and we happily ate our dinner. WELL, 2 weeks later...
  19. John, I am sure you know already, but the people on here are amazing, and have a great wealth of information to share! Sometimes I feel that getting an answer on here means more than talking to my daughter's GI Doc! I just wanted to welcome you! We joined (reluctantly) 5 months ago, and I remember it to be a very scary time for us. My daughter was "wasting...
  20. Basic? I will give you basic! My 19 monthd old Celiac daughter loves cut up tofu, heated in Miso or Chicken soup broth. My 4 year old enjoys cut up tofu, with wheat free soy sauce poured over it. That is all I make with the tofu, and they are the kids favorite meals! Good luck!
  21. Go fruity pebbles! I, who am 30 years old, and my 4 year old enjoy them as a treat on the weekends! I am glad to hear they are gluten-free!
  22. Great information! Thanks! My brother lives in Portland! We may have to pay a visit, just to check out the food gluten free menus!
  23. Thank you all for your replies! It puts my mind at ease in one sense, but freaks me out in another! It is very likely she is getting some form of gluten somewhere, and now I guess it is my job to locate it! She is only 19 months, so everything ends up in her mouth. Her sister routinely drops cereal on the floor, and neglects to pick it up (a 4 year old)....
  24. We had a checkup at the GI Dr. and found out she has lost weight again. She has fallen off the charts, like during her diagnosis phase. She is acting happy at home, developing fine! I am not sure what to think of it. The Dr. ordered blood tests to check her IGA levels, and she said there is a small percentage of Celiacs that are "non-responsive." I didn't...
  25. I was reading other topics, and they reminded me of something that happened shortly after we had found out that my 14 month old had Celiac Disease. She was going to stay at our friends house, to give my hubby and I a date night. I told my friend that I would pack ALL of my daughters food, so there would be no questions. Well, my friend called me while...
