  1. Hi all Thanks for the advice. Reason I got tested is I was bedridden for 6 months following mono. A cousin had the same symptoms and was diagnosed celiac. My test (pre gluten free) was negative but I thought I'd give it a go at the time because I was so desperate. I did have some digestive problems before the diet but they've pretty much remained...
  2. So is it fair to say if someone is not celiac they can reintroduce a lot of wheat at once without many/any symptoms?
  3. Hi all Not sure if I'm celiac or not. Blood tests were negative. I had chronic fatigue following mono which was improving before the gluten free diet and continued to improve during. The recovery has sped up but my doctor said this is normal for a chronic fatigue recovery as you get stronger. Obviously I'd like to know if I can eat wheat. When you reintroduce...
  4. Hi all I haven't been diagnosed with Coeliacs. My chronic fatigue following a bout of mono is improving steadily but it was improving before I gave up gluten. I'm trying to reintroduce dairy. I've been gluten free for three months now. I was a bit stupid with it and just tried to reintroduce milk and had diarhoea. I didn't ever have this reaction to...
  5. Celiac is often associated with hard stools that can cause tiny cuts. Cuts itch when they heal and this is what i've always put mine down to. I've only been gluten free for 6 weeks and still have very hard stools.
  6. Just FYI, maltodextrin and dextrose are on the safe list .... ? I think? I too get cramps when I get diarhoea and when I get my period. They feel exactly the same!
  7. Hi all I know spices and mixed spices especially might have gluten as an anti clumping agent in them, but do herbs? My father thinks not and made some food with them in, and I'd love to know what you guys think! Reason I ask is that I've been gluten free for a month now. My Celiac test was negative (but not REALLY negative, my doctor said!) so i'm trying...
  8. I had similar results since I have basically unexplained fatigue and dizziness. I've been gluten and dairy free for a few weeks now and I am feeling steadily better I think a) it could be a false negative. Remember it's FALSE so I suppose it doesn't matter that it wasn't a borderline positive kind of negative, if you see how I mean. Sometimes the tests...
  9. Hi all See my other posts for my history. Shortly after I had the blood test I went gluten free and I feel I have marginally more energy but I was steadily improving anyway so I can't say whether that's because of the diet. Anyway it's only been 7 days. My lab test results were apparently negative, but I asked for the numbers anyway. IGA - 1.9...
  10. My friend had excruciating unexplained stomach pains and the public health service here tested every organ around that area and shrugged and sent him home. He went private and they diagnosed a slipped disc in his spine. He's well now.
  11. Hi all Mine's the 'chronic fatigue and coeliacs' post below. I thought I'd write a new one here since there have been some developments. I had my blood test a week last Friday and rang up the following friday to be told the doctor was out. The receptionist told me 'the results were all within normal range.' But she wouldn't tell me which test they did...
  12. Well my doctor's receptionist told me today that the doctor was out and wasn't therefore available to tell me my blood test results. However the receptionist (not to be trusted, surely!) told me they were all within normal limits but none of the numbers or anything and said the doctor would speak to me on Monday. God it's so difficult to get answers...
  13. thanks for all this information, it's invaluble that I can tap into your 10 years of trying things! My problem is that i don't feel chronically fatigued. I used to, back in jan/feb right after I had mono, I felt like I was dragging my body around and was too tired to think. But now I just feel dizzy. However my doctor said my blood pressure's normal when...
  14. What are your energy levels like? I currently cannot sit up for more than 10 minutes - I trust you are not this bad?
  15. I don't know anything about viruses, but I thought epstein barr causes mono?
  16. Hi I don't really have much advice but can offer some empathy. Mine started with a virus but have basically been bed ridden ever since. My doctor's fobber me off with chronic fatigue but I don't really see how it could explain my host of GI symptoms. I too can't walk to the shop (dizziness and fatigue is awful!) and I have to repeat my college year...
  17. Can celiacs be triggered by a virus then? I am quite hopeful. The test is tomorrow. been eating loads of gluten in preparation. now mouth is full of ulcers, glands have gone up, throat kills. It's like having mono again! Not sure where I caught this bug from (if it is a bug) because I'm housebound and don't see anyone!!
  18. Thanks, guys. Went to see my GP today and she was 'amazed' my specialist didn't test for it. I woke up in the night ravenous as well and have lost weight so am really hopeful it's this. otherwise I'm not sure what will explain my symptoms and going back to plain old chronic fatigue will be a bit of a come down... 20. Hi all I'm new to this so not sure if I'm writing in the correct place. Basically just looking for some advice on whether I should get tested for Celiacs. Bear with me, my symptoms are varied and strange! Last summer I got food poisoning and most days since that I felt sick and on a few occasions vomited. I was previously fit and healthy so it was...
