ARCHIVED Think I've Been Glutened, Please Check My Menu :)
Billygean replied to tygwyn's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Butter from the marketplace. They will undoubedtly have spread butter on bread and dipped the knife back in. Our butter is full of my boyfriend's crumbs so I have my own! -
Fatigue was my only real symptom, I didn't sit up for 6 months after a bout of mono, I was so debilitated. It took about 3 months of gluten free to get back to anywhere near 'normal' and even now, a year after gluten free, I still sleep for ten hours every night and nap sometimes too! it does get better though, a baby step every day BG

Are you feeling well? If you are, I wouldn't worry about things like this, especially if you only noticed it on your days off - if you are feeling okay try not to stress. You cannot have absolute control over your environment and arguably having a few molecules of gluten here and there will help you if you ever want to eat out and there's a risk of CC>...

ARCHIVED Glutened At A Wedding?
Billygean replied to Billygean's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
On Sunday I ate gluten-free bread that I took myself to the hotel, with cheese and onion at my dad's house which is not gluten-free but i used a fresh knife and put my toast on some new foil under the grille. Then we had steak, potatoes and salad and the only dressing I had were mayo and ketchup, which are both certified gluten free. -
Hi all I've been gluten-free for almost a year. I reintroduced dairy successfully in about December 08 and I've been feeling pretty well lately. I suffered with quite bad chronic fatigue prior to giving up gluten. I went to a wedding on Saturday. I felt fine on Sunday but possibly didn't get enough sleep, although my body hasn't rebelled this much in...

ARCHIVED Has Any One Experienced More Effects From Caffeine After Going gluten-free?
Billygean replied to mattathayde's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I gave up caffeine when I gave up gluten in June 08. I tried to reintroduce it and every time I did I had basically panic attacks. It has a MAJOR effect on me! -

ARCHIVED Anyone Purposfully Eat Gluten Before To Test?
Billygean replied to loxleynew's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I ate a slice of bread a day for four days and only experiences any symptoms on the fourth day. They were severe and lasted 6 weeks and I wish I had never done it (though at least I know now as I too tested negative). I think everyone has a level which they must reach before their body reacts. -
ARCHIVED Help! Gluten Challenge - Symptoms Better
Billygean replied to Defkid's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Hi I thought the same. For me it took 8 days of eating gluten before everything came back in abudance and I abandoned the challenge... BG -
Hi there Well today I am absolutely exhausted - bedridden, which is such a shame as I don't understand it. On a daily basis I eat, F bread for breakfast. Lunch I eat the night before's left overs, and dinner we usually have stir fries with rice, potatoes, pork and chorizo, lots of fresh veg... Quite healthy really. I gave up caffeine last June and...

When I first reintrodued dairy, too soon I think, I got cramps and the D. I've been on the same 'dose' of dairy for about 4 months now with no problems of that ilk hence why I'd be surprised if it suddenly started making me hungry these past few weeks. This morning am light headed even though just had gluten-free toast with nutella, a banana, a yoghurt...

I've booked myself in for a diabetes test. The ravenous-ness has got much worse, am eating near constantly. carbs wise i eat a lot of rice and gluten-free bread and corn pasta, could this be it? I have been on dairy since october with no problems so i'd be surprised if it was that?

Hi all Thanks for the help you've given me here in the past. Basically I am undiagnosed but due to a gluten challenge that I gave up after 4 days in November I am pretty certaintly Coeliac. I got chronic diarhoea and the chronic fatigue I used to suffer with came back in abundance and I ended up in bed for about 4 weeks. I thought I was over it...

ARCHIVED Whole Family Took Enterolab Tests - Overwhelmed - Help!
Billygean replied to gfreston's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
A milk intolerance is not like celiac. It won't, as far as I know, damage your intestines. I gave up milk and then obviously stopped producing the enzymes and it took ages to reintroduce it properly, and I don't think I've gained anything from the whole experience! -
For me, celiac caused dry eyes which affects the vision, basically the amount of fluid on the cornea affects how the light is refracted. Symptoms of this are obviously dry feeling eyes, problems with contact lenses, feeling like looking through a misty window, blurred vision that doesn't correct with glasses, changeable vision. Eye drops and gluten free diet...

Urgh I thought my family would be better than they are being. My sister's a doctor and she's pretty good; she does what she's told but my dad has notions that a crumb won't hurt. He says there's no way I can be completely gluten free and I have told him 7 or 8 times just this week that it is not to do with the amount... Am I the only one thinking we get...

Might This Be Celiac- Not Tendinitis?
Billygean replied to SMR814's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
It sounds very celiac. You might want to try the gluten free diet even if the blood test was negative. I tried the diet after a negative test and my chronic fatigue and joint has all but gone -
Well you can probably see from my other posts that I had mono followed by chronic fatigue and a lot of digestive issues. My coeliac test was negative but I went gluten free on the advice of a coeliac relative and got almost better. Since I still had a while before returning to college I decided to try a gluten challenge. I had four slices of bread in four...

ARCHIVED Celiac? Left Side Abdominal Pain, Sharp Chest Pain And More >>
Billygean replied to jb1119's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Oh mono and celiac - story of my life! I too have the left side pain, behind my ribs, just feels like something's pushing against the ribs. It pretty much went away and came straight back when I did a gluten challenge... BG -
ARCHIVED gluten-free 9 Mo. But Still Not Improvement - Should I Go To Mayo?
Billygean replied to Blitz's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I completely agree. Doctors do not understand CFS and therefore make stuff up. I had mono, it triggered celiac, I got horrendous CFS that has almost disappeared on a gluten-free diet. There seem to be so many people who have had mono and celiac. Ferratin is iron so get some iron tablets - a little bit of anaemia can be quite bad to someone who is already... -
ARCHIVED Reintroducing Wheat
Billygean replied to Billygean's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Well - I reintroduced wheat. I was bedridden for a month after that slice of bread and a burger. I think we have our answer. I went to doctor and told him this as a celiac family member of mine told me he should diagnose. He's ordered a blood test and biopsy even though I'm gluten free and unwilling to eat gluten for the sake of a diagnosis! Siiiigh... -
ARCHIVED Misdiagnosed-legal Recourse?
Billygean replied to hadabaday2day's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I'm a lawyer in the UK (well, on sabatical while I recover from celiac-induced fatigue!) and it's my understanding that you can't sue on 'loss of a chance'. There was a case where Dr didn't diagnose cancer until too late and it became terminal. There was a chance if diagnosed earlier the claimant would have survived but they are not sure. Since you do not... -
ARCHIVED Reintroducing Wheat
Billygean replied to Billygean's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Thanks for all the info. I suppose the big thing for me is that there is no evidence I'm celiac. Chronic fatigue following a bout of mono is pretty common, which was pretty much my only symptom. So far I've had two slices of bread and a burger and I feel fine. I did get a headache and some wind but I think I was sort of on high alert looking for my...
