  1. Happy birthday and may God bless you today!

  2. my GI symptoms are the absolute worst in the morning too. i think i am going to start drinking my breakfast...a nice smoothie with yogurt or something. we will see how that goes.
  3. I think you should find a new doctor!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What a bum. My first GI doc told me to look on the internet to learn about what the gluten-free diet is. Then when I told him it's harder than he thinks, he said "well that depends on how gluten-free you want to be" And if that weren't enough, when I came in to his office desperate for...
  4. i just got diagnosed with osteopenia as well. it's not fun to be 23 and have to worry about this. BOO. i think they gave me the body of an 80 year old at birth. i always have health problems beyond my years oscal with D says gluten free right on the bottle....YAY!
  5. sometimes it is just rectal bleeding. i've had that related to colitis. definitely talk to your doctor, but in the meantime don't freak yourself out too much! good luck.
  6. If you get these visual symptoms before a migraine headache it is an "aura" or "schatoma" ( i can't spell today) You can get these symptoms independent of a headache, but they are migraine related most of the time. Of course get an MRI if you haven't recently. You should see a neurologist because there are lots of medicines that can make the auras...

  8. Do you take NSAIDs (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs) like Advil/Ibuprofen or Aleve? That class of drugs can trigger colitis flare ups. You probably already know that, but I was clueless. I was taking indomethacin and then Celebrex for rare headaches and that's what triggered my microscopic colitis that gave me all the GI symptoms that led to...
  9. My dad and I both get nosebleeds. His are far worse. He doesn't have Celiac though. So your nosebleeds may, in fact, be totally unrelated to Celiac. Some people are just predisposed to them. I think we all have a tendency to blame every health problem we get on the Celiac...don't you? haha But Vitamin K is involved in blood clotting, so maybe...
  10. I have a really helpful dietician who gave me the same advice she gives people with morning sickness. Eat a few salty crackers or pretzels (gluten-free of course) and drink a few sips of water while still in bed. Then lie back down for about 10 minutes. You just have to do it before you get out of bed in the morning. The mornings I feel really nauseous...
  11. On the topic of supplements..... Has anyone heard of/tried this? www.celiacdoctor.com I saw it in Living Without Magazine.
  12. All of my bloodwork is fine. No anemia. B vitamins are fine. I've definitely still been taking a multivitamin and calcium everyday to keep that up. It's good to hear other people talk about how long it can really take to start to feel better. I guess you can't be sick for 23 years and expect to be better in a few months. I think massage and yoga...
  13. You say you don't see any effects from eating gluten....well, my dear, being 5'8" and 103 pounds is most likely because you are not absorbing much of the food you eat. Being that underweight is not good for you. Even though you are eating, you're essentially starving yourself. So all the reasons that it's bad to be anorexic, those still apply here. ...
  14. well, from what i understand...flexeril is a muscle relaxant and works on pain-nerve impulses. so, depending on your symptoms, it probably just reduces your experience of pain on a daily basis.....
  15. Hi All, I am new to the boards, even though I've been reading since I got diagnosed in January. My major symptoms my whole life have always been fatigue, migraines, muscle and joint pain, and generally feeling awful - I never had any GI symptoms to speak of until a month before I was diagnosed and those were from colitis, not directly because of Celiac...
